My name is PHI and I created the blog to celebrate fashion and some of my favorite KPOP artists. I feel like fashion wise, YG artists are the most forward and daring. CL in Dior Pre-Fall 2013

Sorry I've been away for a while... quite a hiatus now that I think about it. Hope you guys still remember me!

Now back to business, in a recent issue of Vogue Korea, CL was featured wearing this gorgeous peach Christian Dior skirt- styled fairly risqué I might add. I love the edginess of the editorial: the clothes were very feminine, but styled in a rather punk-inspired way. The color of the skirt is refreshing, brings a touch of fresh air to the hard edge clothes that CL tends to wear, but I do see that her personal style came through in this editorial; the bra with the leather straps add a bondage quality to the photo  - Versace circa 1992 anyone? 

I don't have much to say about this Resort collection of Dior from Raf Simons. There were nice clothes: clean, perfectly tailored, and very wearable. Obviously, the era of the Galliano drama is long gone; now, we see a much more modern interpretation of the Dior silhouette. I still see a little Galliano spirit in this Vogue photo of CL; I mean the hair - Dior Fall 2009? 

 I guess the idea behind this photo is a rebellious barbie doll...Is that why the plastics were there? Anyway, I'm glad to be back and will be posting regularly now. I will for sure be catching up on the YG Fashion that I've missed, so some of my posts will be about things from months ago.

Hi! I've always wanted to know about fashion, but I don't know how to start. I guess I just like looking at the clothes. I'm not creative in the aspect of designing nor am I in position to critique. But I want to know more? Anyways, I just wanted to know how you started learning and what are your goals. Thanks. :)

You can start anywhere really. For me, I started to look at the clothes then look into more about the designers...which led me to want to know more about the history of the brand if it's ben around for a while. Then I explored magazines: the photographers, the stylists, the editors, the models. There isn't a step by step way to learn about fashion; it's something you pick up along the way. It doesn't come over night, but learning about it and updating yourself about the industry will get addicting so you definitely won't get bored. Sites like Models.com, Style.com, ect... are great places to start. Don't rush it, there was a time when I didn't know how to pronounce Yves Saint Laurent. Once you learn more about the industry and know how to look at fashion in an artistic sense and a business sense, then you will develop a point of view, which will enable you to critique fashion in a professional way. It's a learning process and you will love it!

GD in Prada Spring 2013

In the March issue of Vogue Korea, GD appeared in an editorial with Taeyang wearing pieces from the season's best collections. Prada, for instance, was one of my favorites. At first when I saw the collection, I must admit that I question it a little, but as I look at it more, it started to make sense to me. I know the shoes are pretty out there, but the whole collection was just absolutely whimsical and dreamy...and sexy! Those are not the three word I use together to describe something often, but Muiccia Prada's interpretation of Japanese influence was something new and exciting. 

The rebellious geisha look worked so well. The floral appliqués were simple, but gave the collection such a dramatic spirit. Muiccia is so great at turning something so simple and mundane into creations that are clever and gorgeous. All the pieces in this collection can be done in so many colors, and believe it or not, you can actually incorporate them into yur everyday wardrobe quite easily.

GD didn't exactly wear runway looks in this editorial. First off, I don't like this editorial to be honest. It's not a fashion editorial to be, and absolutely not something I would expect to see in Vogue Korea...or any Vogue for that matter. The Prada pieces, although they look nice in the editorial, appeared to be flat; they looked like they were just placed there with no composition purpose, but that's just my opinion. These kind of editorials are not exactly my taste, so I'm obviously being bias here.

As you probably know, every 2NE1 member are each gracing the cover of distinguished magazines for their March issue. I am very excited for this, and I will keep you all updated on all the fashion in the next couple of weeks or so.

In your opinion who do you like in BB when it comes to their style? From most to least and why?

I love T.O.P the most when it comes to style, since that his style is the closest to mine. My least favorite is Daesung probably, just because he hasn't really been as fashion forward as the other.

Since you love fashion and like to talk/analyze about it, what do you think of @katemess tumblr opinions on fashion etc? Haha I think you're both vietnamese too!

I just checked her out. I think it's a great blog. I read some of her posts and she seems to know what she's talking about, which I really appreciate :)

This is just my opinion but I really haven't been enjoying CL's fashion choices lately. I feel like her stylists pair such amazing pieces with incompatible prints that it cheapens the look or it ends up looking like a mess. :-/

I can see what you mean and I do kinda feel the same way. Recently, she looks like she's trying too hard. Her style used to be so effortless, but now it's kinda pretentious. I'm not bashing on her; it's just that lately, like you said, the styling is so off: the make up, the hair, the clothes... they just seemed a little all over the place -too many idea at once I think.

Hi Phi! I was just wondering...who are your favorite designers (whether they pertain to YG artists or not and male designers included)? Also, what young and upcoming designers would you say you would look out for?

My favorite designer changes like every week lol at the moment, I love Erdem Moralioglu of Erdem. I would definitely you should look out for him; he's fairly new, but I don't know if he's still considered upcoming, since he's been gaining more prominence in recent years. He creates just beautiful clothes. In a time when most designers want to make women look strong and sexy, he offers an elegant, soft, and feminine approach to womenswear that hasn't really been around for a while, especially in the young crop of upcoming designers. Regarding menswear, I absolutely love Massimilano Giornetti of Salvatore Ferragamo and David Neville and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bome. Every time I see their menswear collections, I want everything from it. When it comes to young and upcoming designers, Prabal Gurung and Anthony Vaccarello are for sure the ones you should definitely look out for. they're pretty well known now, especially PG but I feel like it's only they're gonna become a lot bigger in the future.

Lee Hi in Versace Fall 2012

Well first and foremost, Happy New Year my fellow followers!!! I wish that the best things in life come your way this year. Since this is the first post of 2013, I thought why not have Lee Hi makes her debut on YG-Swag? She's definitely going to blow up in 2013, so I expect a lot of fashion moments from her. 

In her performance at Gayon Daejun, Lee Hi stunned in a Versace Fall 2012 dress. The print was one of my favorites from this season: it's so strong and sexy; the crosses made the girls look like they're not to be messed with. The cut of the garments and the metal detailing gave this collection a bondage vibe, insinuating a Christian girl gone bad. \

Even though I love the prints and Lee Hi looked amazing in the dress, I'm not particularly a fan of the baby doll/princess silhouette, especially when it's done with this print. I know that she's young and they want her to look edgy and youthful at the same time, but that can be achieved through the silhouette shown on the runway; if they just remove the sleeve on the runway look, that would've been the perfect dress for Lee Hi. I might be a little too critical, but the silhouette of this dress is a miss for me. But don't get me wrong, I love her whole look: the hair, the make up, the shoes -everything just complemented each other. Overall, I think it's a pretty successful ensemble.

CL in McQueen and Blumarine Fall 2012- Ok, I lied... this is the last post of 2012. 

In a performance at Gayo Daejun, after sporting the not so flattering Fendi outfit, CL sported a more futuristic look with an ensemble consisted of a pair of Alexander McQueen glasses and a purple Blumarine coat. I happened to love both collections; McQueen has always been daring, and since Sarah Burton took over, that hasn't changed. Blumarine has always been my favorite when it comes to fun fashion; Anna Molinari knows how to make a woman look strong without compromising her femininity. Both Burton and Molinari took a futuristic direction with their Fall 2012. The Blumarine collection looked like space astronauts, while the McQueen collection looked like space aliens. 

Although it's not my favorite look from CL, I like this outfit a lot more than the yellow Fendi fur coat she wore. This coat looked light and it moved well; it bounces and she performed, so in my opinion, it's a great choice to wear it during a performance. The color is great too; I love the bright colors with the white from the Blumarine collection. I wish that coat could've been styled like that instead of the predictable black. However, the McQueen was a genius touch. With the graphic feature, that pair of glasses were meant to be worn onstage; it complimented the outfit beautifully. Overall, I like this outfit, but I don't love it... I also don't hate it.

I preferred Bom's Emilio Pucci suit to CL's Fendi fur. The stylists could have given CL something more bad-bitchy like a spiked/studded Burberry trench or something Balmain (even though I'm kinda of tired of YG and Balmain). The only thing I liked on CL was her Lanvin necklace. I'm glad that Big Bang wore Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane. I also loved the vintage Versace jewelry that both Big bang and 2NE1 wore.

Bom looked so good in that suit. I was beyond happy to see her out of that mini dress thing. Cl's outfit was just questionable overall. And I agree, I'm tired of the YG and Balmain thing too, thats why I never blog about it. Hedi Slimane is my current obsession right now. The vintage Versace does look pretty badass.

CL in Fendi Fall 2012 - Here's to the last post of 2012!!! 

In a recent performance, CL made a big color splash in a yellow Fendi fur coat. This to be has to be one of her most daring looks so far; the colors are very bright: the combination of the neon yellow with the moss green and white in the front made this fur coat a hard one to pull off. When I saw the collection, I have to say that it's not my favorites; Fendi have had better in recent collections, and I commend Karl Lagerfeld for not holding back with the rawness of the collection. The collection is a cross between pure nature and artificial fabrication: there was even a outfit that resembled a springbok and this fur coat CL wore completely contrasted that; the colors of the fur are not colors that you would find in a wild animal. Somehow Karl Lagerfeld warped these two aspects into one collections. Even the hair was daring; there was definitely no holding back.

Fendi is a brand that has a name for fur goods, and this fur piece is definitely a unique one. Remember in 2008 then fused fur with gold particles? Yeah, this season instead of experimenting with science, they decided to go in a more artistic and amazonian direction. 

I'm not sure if I like this look or not. Like I said before, this is a coat that is hard to pull off. I know that CL wore this style of coat before, but last time it was in black and white. The styling of her outfit in this appearance is really weak I have to say. Even though I love the bold color choices of the fur and I know that CL is a daring girl, but to pair this edgy coat with a leather undergarment is a miss for me; it made her look a little matronly... dare I say a little cheap? The fur is such a statement already; therefore, I don't think the leather is necessary, and I failed to see how those Chanel earrings belong in this ensemble. I would just like to see the fur coat closed and styled with either some platform shoes or a pair of thigh high boots. This whole look overall was either trying too hard or not even trying at all; it doesn't look as effortless as CL usually looks. However, I do like the fact that everyone in 2NE1 looked different in this performance; they looked like they wear different designers, instead of the same collection from the same designer like they usually do.

Park Bom in Anthony Vaccarello Fall 2012

At the Melon Award, Park Bom strutted the red carpet in this sleek Vaccarello number; she never looked as much of a bombshell as she did at this award show. As far as I know, no YG artists have worn anything from Vaccerello yet; he's a Belgian designer who's based in Paris, who received recognition a few years back. He's know for designing clothes that are unapologetically sexy: high thigh slits and strategic placements of minimal fabric are stables in his designs. Although he uses a lot of black, the way he cuts the fabric makes it slithers with sex appeal; his provocative aesthetic made him a stand out in the Parisian fashion circuit. Despite the the dress being black, I recognized it right away just from the cuts and tailoring of the fabric; it makes Park Bom looks like a provocateur. 

I think that as far as 2NE1 is concerned, only Park Bom can really pull of this dress; even CL in my opinion, doesn't have the right attitude that would do this dress justice. Short, sleeveless on one shoulder, and a tuxedo sleeve on the other: these details make the garment look extremely sexy, but no vulgar -even though Vaccarello's designs can sometimes tread that very fine line. You can see that Vaccarello incorporated a menswear inspired vibe into this design, but he executed it in very feminine way; it has the right amount of jazz and accentuates Park Bom in all the right places. She wore this dress so effortlessly and to pair this sexy dress with a pair of Christian Louboutin is perfect.

G Dragon in Kenzo Fall 2012

Recently GD was potted in an airport wearing this Kenzo sweater from the Fall 2012 collection. This sweater is no doubt one of the "it" items of the season. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim just joined Kenzo very recently and within only a few seasons, they've turned Kenzo from "one of the Paris shows" into "one of 'THE' Paris shows." With traditional Kenzo signatures such as the tiger, they've reinvented the brand with a modern and chic atmosphere. This sweater was the opening look that was wore by Karlie Kloss; it's definitely a showstopper. Rarely do you see pieces that are interesting, but also extremely wearable. 

I wish GD would've wore this sweater for a performance of Crayon, that would be so perfect in my opinion. But he looks nicely here, too. I love the green color; this sweater has been literally everywhere during Fashion Week. It's definitely a fun piece of the moment and GD is always about the fun.
