Hi there! Can I request parenting headcannons for Superboy? Like, what would he be like as a parent?
-He really doesn’t have a reference on what to do because Clark didn’t treat him like much of anything when he was younger, and when they were able to get along he was treated in a different type of brother way.
-He’s so scared of doing something wrong and messing everything up. Conner doesn’t want to hurt them, it looks so fragile and… squishy.
-What if he touches them too hard? What if he hurts them? What if he isn’t what they wanted? What if he can’t be what they need? What if he isn’t enough? All these thoughts are running through his head as he looks down at this small child.
-Through the first year with the baby he is a hesitant mother hen. He doesn’t let anyone go to close to them or have them stray too far from sight.
-Conner refuses to hold onto them for the longest time because of his super strength and what he could do if he hurts them.
-Though, when the baby looks up and says ‘Papa’ for the first time he smiles hesitantly and lets the child hold on tightly to his pointer finger and giggle happily. (Ah my heart melted a little while imagining this)
-The 4th year of the toddler is better than the 1st-3rd years because he’s getting better at knowing what to do.
-It still takes him researching and asking others what he should do to get him comfortable with holding them.
-Awkward Conner with a toddler climbing all over him.
-He turns into one of those parents that goes to every and all school productions. Through all of these he can’t hide his smile as he watches his kid.
-During one of the schools play productions the kid waves wildly to Conner from the stage. They can’t stop saying ‘Hi papa!’ or ‘Papa, look here!” the whole time. The whole crowd finds it endearing and Conner waves back at them.
-Conner is not immune to the puppy eyes
-It’s for this reason that the kid gets everything they want. (To a point that is.)
-The Young Justice team is a big influence on the kid as well.
-Dick is there to help them pull off any and all mischievous plans that they want to try, as any brother would do.
-M’gann, the bubbly big sister, bakes them all kinds of sweets and watches the kid’s favorite shows.
-Artemis is the embodiment of a BAMF big sister. She teaches the kid all they want to know about archery and self-defense moves. She also lets them play with her hair.
-Kaldur is the patient older brother. He teaches them the virtue of patience and helps them understand their mistakes in a way that doesn’t make them feel bad about messing up once in a while.
-The kid loves swimming with Kaldur because he plays jaws with them. (But instead of pulling them in the water he jumps up and lifts them out of the water. They shriek with laughter as he does this and demands to have it done again.)
-Wally is and always will be their geeky older brother. He teaches them science and actually /makes it fun/. He also speeds them places (in the base) that leave them wide eyed and giggling like a maniac.
-Zatanna is their ‘magical super sister’ that lets them watch her practice her magic. She loves showing them what she can do, and even lets them try with her. (Sometimes Zatanna helps a bit and lets them think they got it right. The kid knows this and appreciates what she’s doing.)
-When Roy comes in to visit everyone he’s bombarded by a tiny tot that’s squeezing his legs and looking up at him with a smile.
-Roy lowkey melts at this, but plays it off like he’s not /as/ annoyed as he usually is.
-The kid knows that they have Roy wrapped around their finger, this is why Conner lets Roy babysit when the whole team has a big mission.
-Roy at this time not so surprisingly has a way with kids.
-He gets them to go to bed at a reasonable time and has set rules at his apartment that the kid knows and respects. (At times. Sometimes they set up a prank or two around the house for him. Roy always ends up chasing a giggling kid, trying to swoop them into his arms for tickles.)
-When he first watched them he left out some of his dangerous arrows and found them playing with them. He yelled at them for playing with them, but realized that he shouldn’t take it out on them when he left it out. Roy apologized and explained to them it was dangerous. From then on he made sure that his apartment was child proof.
-Raquel teaches them to be confident with who they are. (Seriously, this kid becomes so sassy with her help)
-Barbara likes to play games with them, this means dressing up in costumes from their favorite show. She also teaches them stuff about computers when they ask or asks them to help her with a job she’s doing. (Babs just loves having the kid on her lap as she works. They make jokes and giggle together.)
-Beast boy changes into any animal form the want to see. This results in the kid riding around on the back of a giant green lion.
-Jaime loves watching after the kid with Bart. They get to see the beetle on his back and pet it, which Khaji Da doesn’t mind surprisingly. Bart likes to speed around with the kid wrapped around him as they try to take Jaime’s chicken whizzies. Dios mio, you’re not supposed to teach them to do /that/ hermano!
-Bart and the kid just laugh while Jaime tries to hunt them down.
-Bart also got them into watching anime like Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura.
-The kid dresses as Tuxedo Mask while Bart dresses as Sailor Moon. (The kid says it’s because Tuxedo Mask can do anything and they have to always save Bart from the wrath of Jaime anyway.)
-Sometimes, when the kid can’t sleep and the others have to go on a mission, Jaime sings them his favorite lullaby that his mom sang to him. He also does this to Milagro, and he knows how effective it is in getting them to sleep.
-Karen and Mal take the kid in sometimes when they aren’t busy. They both adore the kid to pieces and it helps them with deciding if they can handle having kids together too.
-Strangely enough, La’gaan doesn’t /not/ like the kid. He calls them a stubborn lil guppy. Others think that it’s because he finds them beyond annoyed, but the kid knows otherwise since he smiles a little when he says it.
-The kid also likes to play with La’gaans fins because whoa that feels funny!
-Tim lets the kid hang off of him while he’s working on cases. It’s the most adorable thing that the team has ever seen. (He’s the snuggliest with the kid. The guy needs his hugs and the kid doesn’t judge him to make him feel like he has to be perfect.)
-Cassie introduces them to everything Disney and soon they both start reciting lines. The kid dresses up as they’re favorite characters, regardless if the character is designated as male or female.
-Conner becomes more confident with his parenting skills and start playing with them more. (It’s not like he didn’t before, it’s just he was too scared to play with them like they wanted.)
-He also hasn’t had an outburst of anger for a long time and has been learning how to deal with his rage after being confronted by his teammates and explaining to him what could happen if he didn’t.
-The kid is always worried when they have to leave for a mission and asks them to stay.
-Conner tells them that they’re saving the world, just like the characters in their shows.
-Starry-eyed child looks at them with awe and wonder.
-While they have a mission the kid is taken and babysat by a JL member. (If anyone else isn’t available.)
-Clark, since Conner and him are finally one better terms, mostly babysits the kid.
-He takes them to visit their grandma and grandpa in Kansas.
-They’re absolutely taken with the kid and show them the ropes of the farm. This is where they go and visit during the holidays and summer vacations.
-Kent family reunion \^o^/ (plus the whole team + many JL members)
-Smiley Conner is what everyone needs. He’s never been happier than he is surrounded by family.
