⎯ Three Voices
I’m not making a scene! (/has gotten so engrossed in his fake-anger that actual, genuine tears are springing to his eyes. perhaps he’s too good of an actor? smiles inwardly, still trying to milk this for all it’s worth) This isn’t a joke! I thought you really were cheating on me! (/rushes towards Youngkwang, draping his arms around the man’s neck and pressing his face against the man’s shoulder) Tell him that it’s over between you guys, hun. Tell him that whatever fun you’ve been having means nothing. (/squeezes the man tighter, using the fact that his face is pressed against the other’s shirt as an opportunity to smile, to laugh. thankfully, his laughter sounds like choked sobs) Tell him you love me, hun… not him! Tell him I’m the only one for you… please? For me?
(/looks back and forth as the two - do whatever they call that) (/gives Youngkwang a genuine look of acceptance, not honestly sure of what to do) (/jongsuk, that was his name- here goes nothing)
(/before saying something- he can taste the happiness coming from Jongsuk) (/no wonder, Khun tasted a mix of sarcasm, happiness and most likely aggrivation- which was coming from Youngkwang) (/so instead of saying anything, Nichkhun feels the need to simply give the two a reason to just chill) (/looks out at the water, he had the option of walking away, swimming for the hell of it, or just watching the Korean Drama)
(/turns back around and looks at the two, then down at the water he was standing in, then sighed) (/scratches his head awkwardly, and points to the tent) Should I just- (/kicks the water lightly) - go?
(/ runs a quick, frustrated hand through his messy hair, still choosing not to give into jongsuk's little act) no, you don't have to go. (/ glances down at the younger renegade laughing into his arm) if anything, i should be the one to leave. after all, i'm somehow responsible for this brat. (/ his voice is exhausted and there's no real sharpness in his insults towards jongsuk, but there's still a desire to learn more about the other for the sake of the mt) shit.. (/ collapses back into the sand with a hard thump, pulling one leg up to rest his chin on) jongsuk, sit here. i promise i'm not cheating on you. (/ pats the spot next to him while staring out at the ocean again)
calling for help
At the sound of her name being so frantically called out, Jiyeon knew that she hadn’t been thrown out. He had actually decided to stay and help her in such desperate needs. It didn’t necessarily change her perspective on the Renegades as a group but it did change her first impression of him. The way that Youngkwang didn’t dare to spit out at least a collective bundle of words during their first meeting had staggered her a bit. Jiyeon hadn’t really had the chance to figure out his motives until now and it seemed as if reality had given her a good slap on the face.
“I’m f-fine,” she said through gritted teeth. Stubborn answer, as usual. No matter in which angle someone viewed this particular situation, things weren’t okay on her part. Her leg was slowly beginning to trace back to the wound, sending internal pain up her hip. In conclusion, there was no way that Jiyeon was going to get out of this one alone. She tilted her head upwards at the hazy figure that was still lingering around. Jiyeon cast her eyes down at the ground as drops of water started raining down on her. “Shit…”
The brunette moved around in a silly attempt to break free. Her whole body was savagely shaking in response to the humidity. “Can you— just get me out of here? We’re both going to die out here in this weather,” she tried to keep herself the slightest bit calm and collected. It was at times like this where you really had to narrow everything down to the real problem in this all. Besides, even with two secretive alliances that housed professionally trained mutants— they were both pretty fucked with her leg stuck under such a heavy weight.
Somewhere in the pit of her stomach— she wanted him to hurry.
I'm fine. It was a phrase that echoed in the back of his memory like a broken record player. The younger Renegades had always repeated those two words over and over again when they were badly injured or upset. He figured that the Brotherhood members endured the same kind of internal battles as they did, and Jiyeon was no different. His lips pursed into a thin line as his mind raced with very few ideas. Even with the lack of options that presented themselves, he was still running on fumes at this point. He definitely wasn't in his best shape right now, and with the pouring rain, he knew he had to rush this rescue mission despite the new dangers.
"Just hold on! I'll be right there." He raised his voice another level so she could hear him over the rain. Shooting back up into a standing position, he scanned the perimeter and spotted a few sizable vines tangled up in a cluster of wide branches. Luckily the towering tree had been close enough to the ledge of the cliff to throw the makeshift ropes over the edge.
Of course, everything was slick with rain, and some random vines weren't exactly the most reliable climbing tools. Still, Youngkwang told himself to take it one step at a time. He took one of the vines and tugged on it with all his strength. He could feel it give a little and he immediately let go of it. He tried another, and this time, it seemed to suffice.
Shouting over his shoulder, he wrapped it around his wrist and arm several times and planted his feet half off the cliff. "Watch out! I'm coming down fast!" With a fast beating heart, the older moved to dig his feet into the wall of soft soil. His weight quickly propelled him downwards and the vines gripped his arm tightly. In a few seconds, his body bent forward as his feet hit ground again and the resulting force sent a slight pain up his legs.
Something I Can Never Have
Chuck scrunched up his face in disbelief. At first, he simply thought Youngkwang was purposefully messing with him, but the more he watched the older man, the more he realized that Youngkwang was simply only half-listening to him.
How rude.
“Mission stuff sounds boring,” he huffed, folding his arms over his chest as he slouched in the chair. “Working on that has to be shaving years off of your life, hun. Work on me instead. I give life.”
Chuck figured he could say or do anything at this point since the man wasn’t truly listening to him… well, except for right now, his beautiful dark eyes meeting Chuck’s and making him sigh in admiration.
“Things… are just… just okay…” He admitted, his usual attitude shaken up completely by the man’s tiny smile. Chuck shook his head, freeing himself from Youngkwang’s spell. “I’ve been working on my power a bit more these days. I thought I had mastered it, but I’m discovering brand new ways to use it. It’s actually just a little frightening.” He let his own lips curl up into a smile. “I’m scared. You should hold me, hun.”
Youngkwang finally seemed to paying full attention to the younger's words, propping up an arm and resting his chin on top of an open palm. "Do you ever get tired of saying stuff like that?" His voice was generally curious; his eyes, piercing.
He wasn't exactly calling out Jongsuk for being inappropriate or immature. Even if he was, he could be sure that the other wouldn't care either way. It was just something about the constant pick up lines that made everything feel more like home. It was strange, in a way, but almost welcomed.
"Just okay?" The phrase pulled Youngkwang's attention away from his work even more. If there was one thing the older Renegade placed as his top priority, it was the well being of all his dongsaengs. It was probably considered lame, and certainly a symptom of early ahjusshi disease, but it was a habit he could never exactly break free from. "It's natural to be scared when you discover new abilities to your powers. But it won't help anything if I hold you, Jongsuk-ah." A laugh bubbled up out of his chest as he clasped his hands together in front of him now. "Look, if you need any help with training, you know where to find me."
one sunday afternoon
At first, it had been difficult to adjust to his sudden change in surroundings and routine. It wasn't just the jetlag and change in timezones. For two years straight, day in and day out, it had always been him working alone -- tirelessly -- in a foreign land. Coming back home was more than welcomed, though, and slowly but surely, everything began to become familiar again. Instinctually, he began to visit the same places he always use to frequent before as he wandered around downtown. Although he had lost or forgotten bits and pieces of his personality along the way, they always found a way to come back to him in the end.
One particular aspect of his weekly routine was found at this quaint bookstore. It was owned and run by a man who had always seemed to teeter on the border between an acquaintance and a confidant, never one or the other. Youngkwang had only hoped that he would still be recognized after all his time away. His cheekbones had become sharper with a loss of weight he had yet to gain back, and his complexion was darker than usual from the searing heat waves from a desert sun.
Opening the door easily, he could hear the small tinkle of a bell above his head. It was a sound that brought a bit of nostalgia to him as he walked up and down the aisles, perusing their contents for a few minutes before heading over to the front desk. A soft smile graced his face as his hands were buried in his pockets. "Miss me, Ahin-ah?"

(/ a small wave of relief washes over youngkwang when he realizes the last two seemed to find the group almost effortlessly. nods a silent greeting to both yuri and jiyeon. turns to the last girl to arrive, putting on a soft smile to show her he meant no harm or disrespect) i’m youngkwang, your fellow supervisor for this trip. (/ looks around at everyone gathered in a circle now, the corners of his lips falling into a more serious demeanor) well, now that we’re all here, how ‘bout we go set up camp? Something I Can Never Have
For a fleeting moment, Chuck thought he had it made. He thought that, just this once, he’d hooked the man and was about to get-
“Water?” He repeated, skeptically. He rolled his eyes, not even bothering to hide his sheer disappointment. Talk about a let down. He glanced from Youngkwang to the fridge, noticing immediately that the dark haired man was, technically, closer to the machine than he was.
He was about to tell the man this, but his never-ending quest for sex quickly reminded him that favors usually needed to be returned.
Reluctantly, he stood up and fetched a tall glass from one of the upper cabinets, then walked to the fridge to grab the pitcher of water. “What are you even working on, hun?” He asked as he poured. “Our wedding plans? The invitations and stuff?” He glanced over his shoulder to gauge the man’s reaction. “We have to decide on a color scheme, right? I’ve always like pink.” He closed the fridge door and sat the glass down on the table before returning to his chair. “Where are you taking me on our honeymoon? I’m not all that big of a fan of surprises, so tell me now.”
As soon as Jongsuk stood up to do as he requested, Youngkwang scanned over his work again, already picking up where he last left off. "Hmm...?" The small noise resonated from his throat as he half listened to what the younger was asking and half concentrated on the report in front of him.
"Just finalizing some things for that mission I just came back from..." His voice trailed off into the air like a thin stream of smoke as he scribbled something else on the paper. "Pink--? Ah, thank you." His train of thought was cut off momentarily while he picked up the glass and took a modest sip. "I kind of like classic black and white weddings." Once again, he was much more concerned about the work at hand but he kept up with the conversation quite easily. "And I really want to go somewhere quiet for vacation. Maybe take a trip by myself sometime soon."
The whole joke seemed to be lost on Youngkwang, his brain only picking up the main idea and thinking nothing more of his questions. "By the way, how's everything going with you? You've grown a bit since I've been gone." He finally glances up at the redhead across the table, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
