Tentacle Pot, Porcelain, 2022

The semi-random nature of the tentacles is what makes these pots so alive. I don’t know right until the final firing how these vessels will actually stand up as the heat of the kiln makes the porcelain tendrils move somewhat. With each unloading of a glaze firing its a magical moment to see how my pots stand up and what their character is. They really are my disturbing pottery babies.

there's only a set number of sunsets that you will experience in your life, a set number of kisses to give, kisses to receive, truths shared and bird songs listened to. wrap them all in your arms and hold them safely and fondly in your chest as often as you can remember to. there's no point in not speaking from the heart, no point in not leaning into love and life with all that you are. there's only a certain amount of starry skies you can be truthful beneath, why not all of them and why not in every way?
