Classic Danny Lyon photo from the Bike Riders book. I was lucky enough to stumble on an exhibition built around this book/these photos at the Milwaukee Art Museum in the mid-aughts. It was amazing! At the back of the book are a bunch of interviews with various characters from the book--mostly Chicago Outlaws that Mr. Lyon ran with. At the show at MAM, they had original audio recordings of these.

Been seeing some interesting OWS-related posters around town, so I thought I'd start documenting some of these rousings of the rabble. Also, been seeing "Teeth" around and I'm digging that lettering! Swoop!

I picked this up at a flea market in Manhattan this afternoon.

At this flea market I spoke to a gentleman who said that the rings, marbles, watches, lipstick tins, and ancient military insignia that he was selling were "gotten out of the sewers at various times." He has a connection whereby he is able to peruse said refuse for gems like a Superman "Supermen of America" ring that later fetched $9000. Or so I'm told.

I love this photographer, Danny Lyon... I had never seen this photo before, though. I also love how the grey-painted wooden fire escapes give it away for Chicago. (From the Atlantic.)
