As Gyokuen was trying to make heads and tails of the familiar appearance of the arrogant king, she noticed that he had looked her way. They made eye contact and, try as she might, she could not glance away. Perhaps it was for a second or even a minute, but no matter the length of time, she felt that it was one moment longer than it should’ve been. Yes, for as soon as she blinked, the man began to make his way through the crowd in her direction.
Though she looked away, it was far too late. The thought of making her way along with the crowd to another area did cross her mind, but she knew that would only make herself stick out more. Being who he was, he would just grow more interested and follow her. Worse yet, he might begin to believe that she knew him.
That she could not have.
Yes. It was absolutely not allowed. He could not possibly know who she was. Every part of her was different from that of the appearance he was familiar with. She had the element of surprise.
That was… if that was the true arrogant king, Solomon.
For the moment she would find out. Looking back over in his direction, he had finally reached her. She gave a soft smile, “Hello. How may I be of assistance?”
He knew he recognized her from somewhere. Where it was, he didn’t know. He wanted to know, he needed to know. This woman looked so painfully familiar. As painful as it was, he couldn’t take his eyes off her or let his mind think of anything but her.
Everything about this woman seemed familiar, right down to the way they stood there looking expectantly at him.
He wanted to ask her if they’ve met before, but he couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth and ask those words. He thought that it might be better if he avoided knowing who she was rather than opening old wounds.
“Um..what exactly is that thing?”
He gestured to the building still causing an uproar among the citizens.
“It’s beautiful! Why does everyone run away from it?”
