I'm going to second the post I reblogged. Yes I've spent a shit load of money on the boys, yes I have a tattoo, yes I have that one photo with the whole deeply embarrassing encounter around it. I don't really think the present can make the past unimportant to me. B.A.P is as much the music and its makers as it is the fans to me. I've met some of the most incredible and important people in my life in this fandom, also some bad eggs. There's five lads who I feel I can continue to support and adore and one I can reasonably say "absolutely not" to.
I think its healthy not to pedestal people to the point that when they do harm, you're not incapable of moving on from them. It's important to see all idols and celebs as humans with faults and failures, some more obvious than others. If you need to talk out your upset or frustration it's important to do it among friends who can help you come to peace with it all. You are not bad or wrong or a failure for having enjoyed a musician you believed to be a decent person. It's reasonable to still have complicated feelings after ovee half a decade of dedication. You'll move on, it'll be fine, I promise.
There's a lot of posts on this blog that have aged badly. There's a lot of content on this blog that makes me wince now. I'm sure many other fans who put the effort into making fan content of him can understand. But I, and by extension they too, made it in the understanding that the members of B.A.P were respectable people who made slip ups and mistakes. Knowing Himchan has done something I will not defend does not take away from how things have been in the past. But in the future I have the choice not to engage with or support him.
I'd also like to say, it's good that for once idols receive actual punishment for their crimes. Too many get away with it. In saying that, I'm also aware that it's because he's not a popular nor active idol that it wasn't brushed under the rug. If nothing else I hope this case encourages a general push towards "victims aren't shunned and forgotten" in the future.
