i lied to y'all, after writing for 9 fandoms i can assure you nothing hits as hard as mystic messenger

it's 6 am and i'm thinking about jumin han. small, probably in the austism spectrum jumin han that was locked in his basement because he didn't act like a "normal child". how he's mocked for his "robot-like" behaviour and his hard set of rules, and since he has money to spare, nobody gives him a second glance. jumin, who finds comfort alongside the girlfriend of his best friend and even if he knows she'll never return his feelings, he's happy to be by her side. until she takes her own life, and he desperately clings to the only reminder of her, a small, white cat, while he listens to his friends mock him for the way he's coping. jumin, whose head is full of messy thoughts he can't quite understand or detangle until he meets you. you, who teaches him love is warm and kind and that yes, it was possible to love him just as he is.

i'm thinking about saeran choi. the youngest and constantly sick saeran that lives with an abusive mother and loves his brother more than anything else in the world. saeran, who is tricked and forced to believe said brother abandoned him, and endures physical abuse in the form of beatings and forced drug-intake. his psyche is so deteriorated he's forced to create other personas to protect himself. saeran that is taught he's useless, unworthy of love and just a useless airhead. and yet, even in his worse times and after being literally tortured, he can still find the beauty in flowers. saeran, who is in such a fragile mental state and yet he finds warmth in your touch and eventually takes your hand, escaping his chains with the promise of a new beginning.

i'm thinking of hyun ryu, our lovely zen. how he escaped from his house after enduring emotional abuse and (presumably) predatory behaviour in his school. how people have made him believe he's nothing else but his looks and he tries, he tries so hard not to believe them. zen, who has been taught that even your family can betray you so it's better to do things on your own and don't depend on anyone. shit, zen who heals up quickly because he's never had anyone to take care of him before. and yet, when you show up he starts to believe maybe, just maybe, he had finally found his happy ending by your side.

i'm thinking of saeyoung choi. happy go-lucky saeyoung who is forced to perform as the clown of the group, the comic relief and yet no one realizes how much pain he's actually carrying. how he's been emotionally and physically abused since he can remember, but also how he's denied the possibility to see the person he loves the most, his brother. how he has earnt so much money and yet he can't even walk down the street, forced to live in the shadows and never emotionally connect with anyone in order to protect them. saeyoung, who is so scared of love that he distances himself the second he notices his heart beats faster when you're around. saeyoung, who eventually is given a second chance to start a new life with you and his brother.

i'm thinking of jihyun kim. elusive, mysterious jihyun that was manipulated in order to despise everything his own mother represented. jihyun, that is left a mess of guilt and sorrow when she gives up her life for him, and he realizes he was in the wrong too late. he wished he could have saved her, so when he finds another young, broken girl, he decides he'll do anything in his power to love and save her. jihyun, who is physically and emotionally abused by the same girl, and yet his vow to protect her remains still, distancing himself from his friends and putting himself in second place. fucking hell, jihyun who didn't remember how it felt to be hugged until you did so. jihyun, who messed up but deserves a second chance, one he finds with you.

i'm thinking of yoosung kim. sheltered yoosung, top of his class and grade a student until the person he looked up to and loved the most dies out of the blue. how everyone thinks he's lazy and just addicted to games when he's trying to cope with probably post traumatic stress disorser or depression after the death of his beloved cousin. yoosung, who is desperate for someone to understand him, to be patient, to let him grieve in peace. yoosung who is lost in life and yet is the bravest of them all, coming face to face with anything that dares to put you in danger. you, the one that was caring, loving and understanding with his grief.

i'm thinking about jaehee kang. jaehee, who lost her parents too young and was forced to grow up sooner than she had wished for. jaehee, who was denied of her normal teenage years and was taught her job determined her worth as a person. jaehee who finds solace in supporting a new artist because she sees so much talent, passion and raw feelings in his eyes, it makes her feel something, even when she's had the worst of days. lovely jaehee who just needs someone to supoort her, to tell her that, even if she can do everything alone, she doesn't have to. jaehee who starts experiencing love and, while she has trouble putting it into words, you know that every part of her soul is filled with thoughts of you.

You sit on the pristine leather couch in the middle of the spacious, sunlit room and consider the sound of your own voice: stiff and strange, too loud and too sharp and—as far as you can tell—horribly out of place.

Your bare feet are tucked up under your body and your hands are clasped in your lap. You’re a funny little pretzel, you think: all tied up in knots (and tongue-tied, too—twisted and turned inside out). You can’t seem to remember how it is that you normally use your limbs.

He watches you with an unreadable look in his eyes and you wonder if he feels the same way.

“So,” he says. He’s perched on a chair opposite you with his legs crossed in front of him—like he, too, isn’t sure how he’s supposed to act.

“So,” you say back. Over the phone, speaking to him felt as natural as falling into bed at the end of a long day—but now you are in his home, and you’re looking into his fathomless eyes, and you’re suddenly aware that you hardly know him at all.

“I’ll order food for us,” he says slowly, rising from his chair (and you suspect it’s because he wants to give himself a task). “Anything you’d like.”

You watch him instead of answering. He crosses the living room with a sort of purposeful stride, and it’s easy to imagine the way crowds must part for him when he’s out in the world. You glanced back at him. You immediately wished you didn’t.

Jumin looked… utterly pathetic. Not in a way that you meant to insult him, but his eyes looked larger than normal and dripped excessively with almost every vulnerable emotion you could imagine: hurt, confusion, fear.

His arms hung by his side, not crossed over his chest or dominantly placed on his hips. His chest and shoulders, full of strength and pride, were slumped and defeated.

He wasn’t the same man you met when you walked through the the threshold of the penthouse… and it struck a chord with you.

“Jumin,” you smiled sympathetically, adjusting the strap of your purse against your shoulder. “We’ll meet again tomorrow. It’s just one night! You can survive without me!”

“No.” Jumin spoke bluntly. “I can’t. I don’t know how I’ve managed to survive without you thus far. I’ve realized so many things with you by my side. Now with you gone…”

“Jumin.” The tone in your voice made him jerk ever so slightly. You needed to be firm with him now. “Please understand. As much as we care for one another, we can’t smother one another either. I promise I’ll take extra precautions at Rika’s apartment because I want to see you tomorrow.” You inhaled - now you were the vulnerable one. “I want to dance with you, drink with you, talk to you all night long. I want to do so much with you.”

“And I with you.” A bright light glimmered in Jumin’s eyes. “I have so much I want to discuss with you. So much about us and our future.”

You felt your heart skip a beat. No - you had to control yourself this time. “So do I. And we’ll have plenty of time to do that.”

Jumin blinked. “Now?”

“Tomorrow.”

Jumin huffed and looked away. “I know I’m being clingy. I know I’m being unreasonable and unfair.” His eyes traveled back to yours - and a soft smile graced his lips. “It astounds me. How you make me feel.”

You felt a blush creep against your cheeks. “Stop trying to charm me. I’m leaving now.”

Jumin moved closer to you. “Are you sure you have everything?”

“Yes, Jumin.”

“Your contacts? Your reading glasses? Your hair ties?”

“Yes, Jumin.”

“Your sunscreen? Your lipgloss? Your lotion?”

“Jumin!”

“Fine,” he murmured, blushing just as much as you. “I won’t keep you any longer, dear. Go ahead.”

You paused. Then turned around and rushed towards him, hugging him close to you.

He let out a soft gasp - unsure of what to do. You giggled and softly rubbed his back. “Don’t think. Let your emotions guide you.”

He softened instantaneously and wrapped his arms tightly around you, bending slightly to rest his cheek atop your head. “I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”

“Neither can I,” you whispered, closing your eyes.

Neither of you wanted to let go of one another. It was Elizabeth the Third’s gentle mewl that brought you back to reality, and Jumin as a consequence.

You reached up and cupped Jumin’s cheek. “Promise me you’ll take care of yourself until then.”

He leaned his cheek against your hand and turned to kiss your palm. “You have my word, lady.”

“I…”

… no. That could wait.

Jumin looked at you expectantly - you patted his cheek and smiled. “Good night.”

“Good night,” he whispered as he opened the door for you and watched you walk through.

Emptiness immediately filled him as soon as he shut the door. His distressed groan alerted Elizabeth the Third, who rubbed herself against his ankles as a response.

“I miss her so much already, Elizabeth,” Jumin moaned, his brows deeply furrowed. “What am i to do for the rest of the evening?”

Elizabeth mewled and flicked her tail towards the bed. Yes - perhaps going to sleep would speed time.

Jumin dragged himself to bed and flipped uncharacteristically against the mattress. He felt sleep’s lullaby caress him… until he noticed it.

You had forgotten the dress you were supposed to wear.

His heart leapt through his chest. Any excuse to see you was the best excuse he could imagine.

“MC!!” Jumin shouted as he stumbled his way to the door.

Jaehee Kang: Jaehee was doing her paper work without a rest so you decided to make a tea, you walked up up to her and gave her the tea you makes "oh, thank you hon" she gave you a heart warming smile then you suddenly sat on her lap. She was confused and surprised but shrugged it off, all it matters now is you taking all of her stress away

V/Jihyun Kim: he was looking for photography that he took, he got tired so he rest on the couch. He saw you approaching him so he smiled brightly "hi sweetheart" you saw an opportunity to sit on his lap, so you sat on his lap. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around you "You're so cute"

Saeran Choi: Saeran was waiting for you to return to the living room, when he saw you entered the living room he spread his arms widely for you to hug/cuddle. You smiled and sat on his lap, he expected for you to just hug him but you sat on his lap instead. He blushed and hums in satisfaction "I love youuu~"

Yoosung only acts innocent and clueless. He knows exactly what people want, what they talk about. He knows when Seven is playing a joke on him. He acts along.

Why?

He sees that Seven is clearly happy when making a fool out of Yoosung. He notices that also the others find certain entertainment in it.

After Rikas 'death' he was really sad. And he hated the feeling. So he didn't want his friends to feel sad. And if he has to make a fool out of himself and act clueless and childish, that's ok for him.

As long as his friends smile and laugh.
