important announcement

I HAVE MOVED SEVERAL OF THESE MUSES TO MY LITERATURE MULTIMUSE.

For ease of not having too many blogs to split my time around and all. I love this blog (and url) but I haven’t been able to focus on these muses because my head is split too many ways. And this is just... IDK, easier.

lokelani doesn’t know how to feel about the sun summoner. but then again she’d been so caught up with getting in trouble for sneaking on the skiff that she hadn’t had much time to think of the other woman. now…well it had been a few weeks since her discovery and she couldn’t help but feel as though her family had left her behind. everyone was so busy (not to mention the complete and total disappointment that radiated off of them lately) that kel couldn’t help but feel a bit alone. plus, she didn’t see what the big deal about the sun summoner was, it wasn’t like the fold was going to come down tomorrow.

running a hand through her hair, she made her way to the gardens of the little palace. everyone knew it was the best spot to find her in her down time and lokelani often went undisturbed there. it’s why she was shocked to see alina there. pausing in her steps, she took a breath and greeted the other woman softly. “i wasn’t expecting to see anyone else out here this morning,” she says, moving to sit on a bench. “i don’t think we’ve been formally introduced, i’m lokelani.” she doesn’t hold her hand out to shake. instead the teenager turns to the hedge she’s sat in front of and with a few movements of her hands it has shifted to shield her from the sun.

𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐋𝐒 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄, like she thinks it’s partly a dream and she’s just waiting to wake up in the army barracks, back at her station. Or goofing off with Mal before they inevitably get into some trouble-- She doesn’t feel Grisha, even if she knows the light comes from her. The General proved it, many times.

Even if Alina can’t seem to make it last long right now...

She finds herself wandering the grounds, when she comes across a peaceful spot--and very soon, another girl comes up to her. Alina shrugs. ❝ I was looking for somewhere quiet, ❞ she admits. She has been avoiding training, and is loathe to say that she hates it. This feeling of failure. But what else can she do, with everyone looking in her direction for this?

Alina knows of this girl, yes; everyone does. She’s the one the General rescued; she’s the one Ivan and Fedyor basically adopted! She’s just--never met her, not really. ❝ I’m Alina, ❞ she says, but she’s sure the girl already knows.

❝ Do you come here a lot? I like it, it’s... ❞ she looks around, trailing off as if she’s still searching for the right way to describe this tranquility. But she doesn’t find it, and so only shrugs.

@youaregrisha a birthday starter for kel!

lokelani was excited. well…she was kind of sad too because this was the first birthday without her mémé, but it was also her first with her new papas. she turned eight this year and for once she actually felt like a big girl. some of the other children at the little palace had talked about their birthdays and even the night that she had met the general had been the prince’s birthday. the traditions her family practiced were a bit different though.

her parents wouldn’t get her gifts like some of the other children, instead she would get a small sweet and typically go on an adventure with her mémé. but this year she had papa and baba, and she didn’t even know if they knew it was her birthday. uncle sasha knew, but he was the general so he knew everything about everyone.

waking up before the sun did, she didn’t bother to change out of her pjs before running from her room into the one ivan and fedyor shared. jumping on their bed, she wiggled until she was beneath the covers and sandwiched between them. turning to her baba she giggled and held up eight fingers, “i’m eight today,” she cheered, before turning to ivan and showing him her fingers as well.

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐋𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐘, but the sounds of pattering feet are heard and they stir. Fedyor is the first to smile; Ivan tends to be one that isn’t fond of rising before the sun, but for their ‘adopted’ daughter, he manages not to gripe (too much). He merely turns over in the bed, as Fedyor smiles at her.

❝ That means you’re all grown up! ❞ he comments, as she holds up her eight fingers. He goes to pull her closer. Teasing her, he looks to his husband. ❝ You know that, Ivan? Our little girl is growing so fast! ❞ Ivan grouses, but does eventually turn to face her and Fedyor, forcing a smile on his face until he sees them--and then the smile turns far more genuine.

❝ I think a celebration is in order, then, don’t you think? ❞ They’ve already bought her some gifts, nothing too fancy but clearly something that she can play with and enjoy here at the Little Palace. The General had ordered a big breakfast--just for her--to be sent to their room later in the morning, too. Along with candies.

❝ Indeed, yes. We’ll have to go into the town, and you know what? You can pick out anything you’d like, how’s that sound? ❞

Normally such a comment wouldn’t bother him, but the fact that it came from Zoya had bothered him. It seemed not that long ago that the two were close, sharing intimate moments together. “I’m sorry about what happened at the fold. To your family.” He knew that she had family there, but proving a point had been more important to him. It still was, but the hurt and betrayal in her eyes struck at that small sense of humanity he had left in him. “I’m not sure what you want me to say.” It wasn’t like he could undo what he had done.

He’d been so much to her, someone she’d gathered strength and power from, someone who she looked up to--maybe even loved, in as much as she could find it in herself after her childhood.

❝ You’re sorry? That’s-- ❞ Not what I expected, she thinks, the shock surely showing partly on her face. ❝ Somehow, I didn’t think you had such a thing in you, to feel any sort of human remorse. ❞

And the question she wants to ask, but doesn’t:

Was there no other way to prove that point?
