Before I started dating my ex, I had a feeling he liked me because I would always catch him staring at me. We dated & recently broke up. Now, I always catch him staring at me again. i don't think it'd be the best choice to jump to conclusions yet. either way, talking to him is a good thing to do- especially because of those unresolved issues. people need closure; without it, things are left uncertain and hanging in the air. but take things steadily.

I feel as if my boyfriend lowered his standards and chose me to be his girlfriend. Every time I see his exs, they are always picture perfect. Perfect hair, perfect skin, unbelievably smart, skinny, talented, and actually pretty. And then there's me: ugly, short, fat, only good at studying, awful hair, acne prone, and awkward. I feel so ashamed of myself whenever I compare myself to them. He definitely doesn't deserve someone like me. But I love him too much to let him go. What should I do? :(

he sees something in you that he likes- something that puts you on par with all those other girls. he chose you and that's a decision that he made; it's not your place to say that it was the wrong decision. i know sometimes it's scary to accept the love of someone you believe is too good for you, but turning it away because you're afraid to accept his love is a weak move.

hmm. honestly, it sounds like she's blowing things out of proportion: don't bother associating with people who make drama out of nothing. they'll just add unnecessary stress to your academic and social life. you could confront her and figure out exactly what it is that's bothering her, but it's probably nothing; she seems like the type of girl who just likes having attention brought on her social mingling. don't let it get to you; you're better than that.

confront her in a setting where she can't run away- not to embarrass her, but so she has to face the problem. it's incredibly immature of her to avoid you, not to even mention how immature the reason is for her being upset. though she's making it subtle, if she's making you feel uncomfortable in a place you should feel comfortable, it's not okay.

it's not wrong for you to be dating. you liked a boy, he liked you back, and now you're together- simple as that. it's unfair for your best friend to be upset with you. how would you have known something she kept to herself all that time?

talk to your friend about it. it seems like she's acting out of proportion under the circumstances. she's happy with her boyfriend; ask her to be happy for you too.

to be honest, most people would probably advise you to 'follow your heart' and 'go for the boy'. i disagree. whether or not you can see it at the moment, your parents really do want what's best for you and are just looking out for what they see is your best future. though it might seem unfair right now, doing anything otherwise would be breaking the trust they're sieving into you.

the best thing to do right now is to keep communicating. keep talking to your parents. a lot of parents forbid their children from dating because they're afraid that they might grow up too fast, doing things too mature for their age and that secrets will begin to fly. show them that you're willing to talk to them and be open about things.

My boyfriend just left for college and we are staying together, but I'm having a hard time not being jealous of the new friends he's making and the new girls he's meeting. I know he would never do anything to hurt me and that he loves me, but how can I keep from being afraid he's going to meet someone better? I love him a lot and I don't want this to come between us.

all you can really do in this situation is trust him. of course he's off meeting new people, making new connections and widening his circle of friends. it's a necessity when you first start college, and if you don't know how to meet new people, chances are you're going to have a bit of a rougher beginning.

if it's meant to be, it'll happen. if he really loves you it shouldn't be a problem. i've got plenty of floormates who're completely committed to their girlfriends and boyfriends, and no matter how many new people they meet, they stay committed.

sit your best friend and your boyfriend down, sit your mom and your dad down. talk.

we've all got a million strings pulling us in a million different directions, and it often gets to be too much to handle. once you start to slip, it's hard to hold onto everything. so before you get to that point, talk it out and explain to everyone/let them know that you're under a lot of pressure and you'd appreciate their help.

'sisters before misters!' it sounds like your best friend might be hurt because it seems like you're giving up your friendship with her so you can be with a boy. however, it's still immature of her to avoid him like that. show her that you understand and respect the fact that she might not like him, but refusing to talk to him or even be in the same room as him is just elementary school stuff. be adults. vice versa; explain to your boyfriend that you need to balance out your social life between him and your friends, so it's not fair for him to take up all of your time.

do the same with your parents. if you sit both of them down and reach a compromise, it'll be easier for them to see that their demands on you are pulling in different directions- making it incredibly difficult for you to satisfy both their wants. talk it out! that's generally the better solution.

quite honestly, with what you've given me, it sounds like he's gone back to her for good and he's just keeping you on a hook.

whatever he's in with his ex right now is abusive. it's never okay to pull a card like that to try and convince someone to stay with you, and it's even worse if it works. if he's not actively pushing to help her without involving himself on a personal level like that, he doesn't want to stay with you enough.

give him an ultimatum, because he shouldn't be pulling you along on a string like this. either he stays with his ex and you stop telling each other you love each other / stop acting like a couple, or he breaks out of that abusive relationship, helps her, and comes back to you. it's not fair for you to be left suddenly like this and have to live in uncertainty for however long it takes.

I like this guy. And my friend introduced me to him because they went to elementary school together. And I didn't know what to say to him, so I was just standing there. show them it hurts you beyond imagination to see someone so close to you hurt himself. all you can really do is keep loving on them and make sure they know that truly, trulytrulytruly they are anything but alone. be there for him or her no matter what.

if things start to escalate or this person shows no signs of stopping or wanting to stop, you have to tell someone who's professionally trained to handle these situations. as much as we feel that we have to keep major things like this secret for our friends, there's a point at which we have to intervene for their good.
