He played the autoharp/zither, violin, some guitar and did some backing vocals with them around the Comin’ Through/Sittin’ Pretty era (1987-1989). You can hear him singing very clearly at the end of Comin’ Through and he’s also very prominent in the music video for that track.

Love how in the “epiphanies” photo, he’s referred to in the caption as “Eugene Vaseline”!
