When you think Jaguar and a SUV you might have the thought in the back of your mind that the Jaguar F-Pace could be an interesting alternative for the Porsche Macan and Jaguar is definitely aiming the same market. You will see a lot of comparison videos appearing on YouTube regarding this.

The new Jaguar F-Pace is really a true Jaguar in the first place. The F-Pace looks like a sports car and has the sports car sound to it as we want to hear from a Jaguar as you can hear and see in the little clip below taken in Montenegro.

Jaguar has put a lot of efforts in the design of this crossover. The F-Pace looks very dynamic and more progressive than the Macan and at the same time elegant, sporty and ehh….., very Jaguarish. The sports car SUV crossover will appeal to both men and women.

Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar explains the vision of Jaguar about the F-Pace: “We designed the all-new F-PACE to be first and foremost a Jaguar. That’s why it has exciting proportions, a dynamic stance, pure surfaces and a beautiful sensuality about it. Its progressive, purposeful appearance has clearly been influenced by the F-TYPE.

“It looks assertive yet not aggressive. But it’s also versatile and equipped with real-world answers to everyday questions. The all-new F-PACE is an all-weather, all-surface Jaguar sports car, life-proofed for five people and their belongings.”

You have a choice of several engines and equipment/features levels as you may expect from Jaguar. Starting with the equipment/features levels there is a choice of Pure – Prestige – Portfolio and R-Sports and there are 2 engines: The 2-liters 180PS Diesel engine with turbo-charger which you can combine with a manual or an automatic transmission and with 2-Wheel or All-Wheel Drive.

The 2-liters gas/petrol engine comes with a turbo-charger too and you have the choice of a 240, 300 or 340PS engine, the last one blowing you away with an acceleration speed 0-100 km/h is just 5.5 seconds. Emission rates are 129 g/km for the 180PS manual gear 2 WD vehicle to 209 g/km for the one with the 340PS engine.

To keep all this power safely on the road, Jaguar developed the All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) in dangerous slippery conditions. The ASPC system steps in and drivers only have to steer and don’t have to use the pedals. ASPC controls the throttle and also the brakes in such a way that from a stanstill only very low engine torque is applied to the driving wheels. Wheelspins is avoided in this way. It operates between 3.6 km/h and 30 km/h and the driver activates the system by using the cruise-control.

Inside You will notice that Jaguar has not been shy with using high class materials in this 5-seater. The instrument panel has 2 large analogue dials and a central TFT display or a 12.3 High Definition cluster of instruments.

The seats have high been covered with high class leathers and there is an abundant use of high class materials.

It was already the most powerful luxury sports car in its class and now it is even more powerful. The Bentley Continental GT Speed 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine now produces 642PS (was 635PS) and it has an extra 20Nm of torque. This is notable in the acceleration time. Now the Continental GT Speed speeds up from 0-100 km in 4.1 seconds (0-60mph in 3.9 seconds).  This is extremely fast for such a big sports car.

Can you notice the differences on the outside of the car? Yes you can! Bentley is clever enough to introduce a Black Edition just like their friends of Rolls Royce did a couple of weeks ago although Bentley did this in a more distinctive way. The black color is reserved for exterior brightware including window openings lamp bezels and the all-black five-spoke directional wheels. The brake calipers have a red or black option.

The Bentley Continental Speed Black Edition features contrast colors to the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser and there you have the choice in 4 different shades.

On the inside there is a mix of dark tones and strong highlights available al well as opulent leather with colors with contrasting stitching which are matching the exterior styling accents.

Rolls-Royce presented a “Young” edition of the Wraith and the Ghost models. Young meaning appealing to those who are elusive and defiant. “What?” you might ask. Very rarely you can accuse a Rolls Owner of being elusive and defiant and we think that Rolls Royce is just afraid loosing a lot of owners to the grim reaper. So they thought that raising some interest of younger wealthy gentlemen won’t hurt their sales. You only need a luxury car that can do just that. Bentley is having their Continental GT’s and now Rolls Royce comes with the Black Badge.

Black Badge

The alter ego of Rolls-Royce they say, is for the disruptors and risk takers who break the rules and laugh in the face of convention. They are driven by a restless spirit. They play hard and they change the world. So what is this all about? Rolls-Royce made the Black Badge for the young, young at heart, the play hards and the driven self-made rich people without compromising The Rolls-Royce heritage. So, they put in modern design elements. You find a new “Flying Lady” on the hood, new composite carbon fiber and lightweight alloy wheels unique to each Ghost Black Badge and Wraith Black Badge and the intense black color of these luxury automobiles. Inside you find aerospace-grade aluminium-threaded carbon fiber composite surfacing, a newly created Black Badge clock, Unlimited’ infinity logo embroidered on the Black Badge’s upholstery and the moody light cast from the black starlight headliner, and reflected around the cabin from the polished fascia, to create a darkly atmospheric ambiance.

For the Ghost Black Badge it was important to ensure passenger comfort by maintaining Rolls-Royce’s renowned “Magic Carpet Ride”. The engineers of Rolls-Royce modified the 6.6 litre V12 engine to increase the power to 603 HP and upgraded the 8-speed automatic for a quicker response. Knowing Rolls-Royce there will be no need to grab everything to hold on to for dear life. Other adjustments were made in the suspension and steering departments and the addition of new drive shafts so the Ghost Black Badge continues to deliver the most luxurious ride.

But the Rolls-Royce Wraight is something completely different.

A Wraight you drive yourself, not a chauffeur so being already the most powerful Rolls the engineering team had to come up with a uniquely discernible extra edge for their fastback coupé. You know what they did? They put in an extra portion of Torque (+70Nm), they redesigned the air-suspension set up, installed new drive shafts and of course, just like the Ghost uprated the 8-speed transmission to have some more urge injected  in how Wraith Black Badge delivers its power. And voilá, here they are. Well, these Black Badge Rollses are looking good and certainly will find their way to a much needed younger clientele.

The A&K SVAutobiography road trip itinerary

Starting in Europe, guests take in the twisting mountain roads of Monaco, the coastal highway to Portofino and the breathtaking vistas of the Italian lakes, all from the leather-lined luxury of their personal SVAutobiography.

Accommodation for the first leg includes Four Seasons Cap Ferrat, the Villa D’Este overlooking Lake Como and the San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge in the stunningly beautiful and remote Dolomites region of the Alps. Lunch is taken at world-renowned eateries including Joel Robuchon at the Metropole and unique, bespoke activities include a personalised fragrance making class in the lavender scented hills of Provence and a glacier picnic – by chartered helicopter – in the peaks of the Alps.
