Though she apprechiated the fact that Kate had introduced her properly to Clint. Bailey would non-stop asking Kate questions on what it was like working with him.

One afternoon, Bailey came home with a black eye from school. Not wanting to worry Kate, Bailey was in her room in Kate's apartment trying to put makeup over her black eye. She had gotten into a fight over how their mom was in jail and Bailey had tried to fight back only to get a black eye.

Kate had just gotten back to her apartment from a midday college class, assuming that she'd at least see her younger sister sitting in the kitchen or on the couch with Lucky, but was met with silence. "Bailey? You home?" She called out, slowly wandering around the apartment in search of her sister, until she came across her sisters bedroom with the door closed. Kate gently knocked on the door, but didn't open it, as a way to respect her sisters privacy. "Hey, you in there sis?"

"shit" Bailey whispered and threw on a pair of sunglasses and walked to her door and opened it. "Hey Kate! Didn't expect you back so early." The 16 year old replied. "Hust me or is it a little bright in here?" Bailey asked trying to stall. Truth be told she didn't want Kate worrying about her over a black eye. She wanted to prove that she could hold her own even though in reality she couldn't.

Kate raised a brow at Baileys sudden odd behavior, added in with the sunglasses, something was definitely up. "Uhh, no, not really.." She said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously as she peaked into her bedroom, before turning her gaze back to her younger sister.

"Bailey, what's going on? Why are you wearing sunglasses inside? Only people who are hungover or do drugs do that, and I know you're not either of those people. So spill it.." She said while crossing her arms over her chest.

Sighing, she took off the sunglasses and grabbed a makeup wipe and wiped away the makeup she put on over her black eye. "I thought I could take them Kate." She admits to her sister.

Kate watched as her sister removed the glasses, and used a wipe to remove the makeup she applied to cover up what appeared to be a decently sized black-eye.

She sighed, her brows furrowed with worry, as she reached up to gently rub her thumb over her sisters bruised skin. "Jesus, Bailey... How many times do I have to tell you to stop getting into fights with people?" She asked, her tone gentle despite the fact that she was clearly scolding her. "C'mon, let's get some ice on it.."

"One too many times." Bailey says following Kate to the kitchen. "It was over Mom again. They seem to know that was a rough topic for me." She explained. "I want to protect our name but I can't fight back I'm not you Kate."

Listening to Baileys reasonings for fighting, Kate's expression softened slightly and sighed. She grabbed a bag of frozen vegetables and wrapped it in a small towel before handing it to her sister. "Here, hold this over your eye. Let me know when it starts to defrost.." She instructed.

"Bailey, I know it's hard to ignore what people say about mom. But you have to understand that, the main reason why people still talk about it, is because they know that it bothers you.." She said while grabbing an energy drink from her fridge, cracking it open with a quiet fizz. "You don't have to be like me, Bailey. You just have to be like you, and that means ignoring people who are just trying to piss you off to get a reaction out of you. Mom entrusted your safety to me, and the government expects me to be able to handle taking care of you, but you constantly getting into fights left and right is not helping at all. Please, for both of our sakes, you have to quit it out. Okay?"

"Plus I could threaten them with Hawkeye cause I know him and Hawkette." She teased playfully.

"And hey, don't take Yelena's attitude so personally. It's not that she doesn't like you, she just has a... a tough exterior, built from a lifetime of hardships and traumatic experiences. She may look mean and rough on the outside, but she's actually a huge softie once you get past all that."

After hearing her sisters words about just being her 'dumb kid sister' and 'wanting to make dad proud', Kate's expression softens and she walked over to Bailey, pulling her into a tight hug. "You're not just my dumb kid sister, Bailey. Yelena knows you mean a lot to me, she's just... she's dealing with her own issues. Don't take it so personally, okay?" She began to say, before pulling away and ruffling her hair affectionately. "Dad would be proud of you, I know he would."

Kate raised a brow at Baileys sudden odd behavior, added in with the sunglasses, something was definitely up. "Uhh, no, not really.." She said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously as she peaked into her bedroom, before turning her gaze back to her younger sister.

"Bailey, what's going on? Why are you wearing sunglasses inside? Only people who are hungover or do drugs do that, and I know you're not either of those people. So spill it.." She said while crossing her arms over her chest.

Sighing, she took off the sunglasses and grabbed a makeup wipe and wiped away the makeup she put on over her black eye. "I thought I could take them Kate." She admits to her sister.

Kate watched as her sister removed the glasses, and used a wipe to remove the makeup she applied to cover up what appeared to be a decently sized black-eye.

She sighed, her brows furrowed with worry, as she reached up to gently rub her thumb over her sisters bruised skin. "Jesus, Bailey... How many times do I have to tell you to stop getting into fights with people?" She asked, her tone gentle despite the fact that she was clearly scolding her. "C'mon, let's get some ice on it.."

"One too many times." Bailey says following Kate to the kitchen. "It was over Mom again. They seem to know that was a rough topic for me." She explained. "I want to protect our name but I can't fight back I'm not you Kate."

Listening to Baileys reasonings for fighting, Kate's expression softened slightly and sighed. She grabbed a bag of frozen vegetables and wrapped it in a small towel before handing it to her sister. "Here, hold this over your eye. Let me know when it starts to defrost.." She instructed.

"Bailey, I know it's hard to ignore what people say about mom. But you have to understand that, the main reason why people still talk about it, is because they know that it bothers you.." She said while grabbing an energy drink from her fridge, cracking it open with a quiet fizz. "You don't have to be like me, Bailey. You just have to be like you, and that means ignoring people who are just trying to piss you off to get a reaction out of you. Mom entrusted your safety to me, and the government expects me to be able to handle taking care of you, but you constantly getting into fights left and right is not helping at all. Please, for both of our sakes, you have to quit it out. Okay?"

Bailey looked down. "I remember what you promised Mom when we were little. Well more so Mom telling me. But you promised to protect us. And I am forever thankful to have you as my big sister Kate. I'll stop fighting. Or at least try." She says placing the bag of frozen vegetables on her eye. "What do I do if they swing first?" Bailey asks. "Plus I could threaten them with Hawkeye cause I know him and Hawkette." She teased playfully.

"No.. You don't need to threaten anyone with anything, Bailey.." She opposed, sighing again as she moved to sit down in a chair at the kitchen table.

"I'll see if maybe Yelena can teach you how to defend yourself, but that's only if you promise to use it in self-defense and nothing else. Okay?"

"I was kidding." She says softly. "Besides I don't even know if your girlfriend likes me. After all I'm your dumb kid sister that tags along alot." Bailey says looking down. "I just wanna make Dad proud."

Kate's cheeks turned a bright red as Bailey referred to Yelena as her 'girlfriend' and she held her hands up in a sort of surrendering motion while shaking her head. "H-Hey, wait a second..! Yelena's not my girlfriend! We're, uh— we're just.. just friends, that's all.." She started to say, her words nervously tumbling out of her mouth. "And hey, don't take Yelena's attitude so personally. It's not that she doesn't like you, she just has a... a tough exterior, built from a lifetime of hardships and traumatic experiences. She may look mean and rough on the outside, but she's actually a huge softie once you get past all that."

After hearing her sisters words about just being her 'dumb kid sister' and 'wanting to make dad proud', Kate's expression softens and she walked over to Bailey, pulling her into a tight hug. "You're not just my dumb kid sister, Bailey. Yelena knows you mean a lot to me, she's just... she's dealing with her own issues. Don't take it so personally, okay?" She began to say, before pulling away and ruffling her hair affectionately. "Dad would be proud of you, I know he would.."

@lady-hawk-eye It had been four months since Eleanor was put in jail. Four months since Kate had gained custody of Bailey. For Bailey it was jarring having her older sister being her guardian now. Though she apprechiated the fact that Kate had introduced her properly to Clint. Bailey would non-stop asking Kate questions on what it was like working with him.

One afternoon, Bailey came home with a black eye from school. Not wanting to worry Kate, Bailey was in her room in Kate's apartment trying to put makeup over her black eye. She had gotten into a fight over how their mom was in jail and Bailey had tried to fight back only to get a black eye.

Kate had just gotten back to her apartment from a midday college class, assuming that she'd at least see her younger sister sitting in the kitchen or on the couch with Lucky, but was met with silence. 'Hm, that's weird. I wonder where Bailey went..' Kate thought to herself as she put her stuff down and removed her shoes.
