L'Amour et Psyché à demi couchée, Marble Sculpture (1787–1793) Carved by Antonio Canova (1757–1822), the Neoclassical masterpiece illustrates the mythical moment the god of love, Cupid, revives Psyche with a kiss after she has fallen into a death-like sleep. The sculpture was originally commissioned by Colonel John Campbell in 1787. This version was later acquired by Joachim Murat and subsequently ceded to Napoleon I in 1808. Loc.
