and if they dont wanna be in the collective or i dont want them in the collective its easy!! just eat more matter and split them off and they can continue living their life as their own adorable swarm of nanites. they can even just put themself together in a way that looks like their old self, just with a couple differences like having no proper organs and being able to eat anything. they could even add things like horns or cat ears. its an upgrade really. and if the yearning for the company they used to have gets too much they can always come cuddle/merge with the rest of us <3
