i love it because i feel like on taylor’s earlier albums, a lot of the times she would describe her relationships as her being more into them, or she was the crazy one, or the other way around. she doesn’t have that many songs where she describes a relationship as being on equal footing, but now we have a whole album full of them, and it’s good to know her relationship is so balanced

I haven’t seen anything about Afterglow yet which is an international travesty. That song is a gem about self-sabotage and forgiveness and knowing you have messed up, but being unable to stop. And knowing you hurt someone you love is the worst feeling. But you can move past it and get stronger and your relationship is that much better because of your mistakes. 

This song is literally a deep dive into the line from “you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars”. There is a vulnerability in a relationship where you want someone to “tell me that we’ll be just fine even when I lose my mind”. And if you can get past your insecurities, all the “exes, fights, and flaws we wouldn’t be standing here so tall” and then you know why love was worth it. 

This song is so underrated in it’s ability to perfectly capture the tough sides of a relationship

Cornelia Street really is storytelling at its finest. I absolutely love how it tells a story that pinpoints the vulnerability of the fear of losing someone. It’s like you can feel that fright of pain in her voice and in the lyrics, and that proves (yet again) what an amazing storyteller Taylor is. And when she combines that with the most amazing metaphors (We were a fresh page on the desk, filling in the blanks as we go. As if the street lights pointed in an arrow head, leading us home says HELLO) you get a powerful masterpiece of a song.
