Thought I’d draw something simple for now. My plan is to draw a small piece for each of my LGBTQ+ characters this month! Partially for pride, mainly because I want an excuse to draw and yap about them (as well as develop some character’s stories).

I really wanted to draw something physical this time, so here’s a colored pencil piece :333

VYLET PONY RETROSPECTIVE: CUTIEMARKS, and THE THINGS THAT BIND US

8:27, June 22nd, Summer of ‘12…

CUTIEMARKS is such an important album to me, spiritually. I started listening to Vylet Pony shortly before the release of this album, and I have fallen back on it consistently, move after move, heartbreak after heartbreak. It shaped my worldview, how I look at myself, how I look at other people. And above all, it made me adore my life as a creator.

It’s really hard for me to describe the incredible impact this thing has had on my life (not to mention the trauma bonding), so instead, I’ll tell you this:

The last time I visited the beach near my hometown in Depoe Bay, Oregon, I wrote ‘SING A SONG ABOUT LIFE’ on the boulders in charcoal. Since I’m going back there this summer for the first time in six years, I’ll do it again.

While it may not be the greatest album ever made, CUTIEMARKS has a special little diamond studded box in my heart, and I have so much to thank for the hope and empathy that it instilled in little me.

I started watching Danny Gonzalez compilation videos for both working on art and falling asleep to, and there’s this 6 hour video I’ve been coming back to frequently.

But I just looked at the channels username and was like “Huh? Wait what does that say??”

I click on the channel and it’s some Vietnamese Vlog channel that has just… started making Danny Gonzalez compilation videos?? Specifically those types of videos???

I don’t know how I didn’t notice this at all I’m so confused. What does this mean.

I honestly just did this because I was scrolling through old art and forgot I could render like this from photo reference. So.

The proportions aren’t 100% right, but that’s mainly because I didn’t sketch first, like I normally do. I just laid out blocks of colors until it looked right lol.

Anyways this was a fun practice I like Jon Batiste he’s a really great musician lalala

Another year.

Rambling under the cut <3

I haven’t been feeling good all day. But while drawing this, I suddenly, like, gained consciousness? My vision suddenly became clear; my mind more aware (though, it has caused a minor headache).

Now I feel motivated to freshen up, which is really good.

I’m not sure if the drawing was the cause. But I like to believe it was. The whole meticulous and precise act of drawing in the notes app certainly does wake the brain up. Plus, I drew this with my left hand which requires double the amount of focus lol.

Happy day to me. Everyone deserves a good day and good things from others sometimes.

I’m going to devour an ice cream cake tonight.
