funnily enough rewatching the beach scene and my reading of Kyoya being gay I honestly don’t think he was THAT in the wrong
im not saying what he did was RIGHT, far from it. However Kyoya is constantly characterized as someone who exerts power on the benefit of others in swift and expert ways. Often times in underhanded ways.
So, to try and help Tamaki the man hes deeply in love with prove his point, he “exerted his power as a man” to show Haruhi why the host club was concerned. Haruhi was right in their reading of Kyoya, they where always gonna be safe with him.
So I guess I like to imagine that when Kyoya was in that position, he was shaking. His face was calm but his body was in fight or flight, his pulse fast and uncertain. Worried, concerned.
He already has a hard time proving he’s enough with his brothers and to his father, so he does what a “man’s” suppose to do. And even then he’s scared, visibly even as he tries so hard to cool his features.
And Haruhi being Haruhi, knows. Can see right through him. A kid afraid to be proven wrong, pushing to show his friend how much danger she could be in, trying to help his other friend’s point.. i dunno. It wasn’t good that Kyoya went to such extermes but also Haruhi is RIGHT that he would never do anything.
Cause, Ultimately, Kyoya loves and cares for his friends. And Haruhi is one of them. Not to mention Kyoya hasnt shown the same type of interest or physical contact with Haruhi before, it came out of no where.
I know irl it doesnt matter, friends can sa you. Rape is less about attraction and more about power. However, this is a story with characters put into places to show who these character are, what does it mean for the character who tends to underhandly exert power for the benefit of others people to do the same over his friend?
Even if isn’t right, it’s at least a very interesting question that creates a interesting character.
