Anyone else miss when kids were just… kids?

I’ve heard that the some of the antis are prolly literal 11 year olds (makes sense because of their lack of knowledge but WHAT)

I mean— don’t get me wrong, I’ve done my fair share of— if I think about things remotely similar to these experiences— looking and writing wattpad stories, fanfiction.com, Tumblr, and using Episode and stuff at around that age (courtesy of being the weird kid with unrestricted internet access).

But I was weird in peace. I was quiet. I knew my place.

I was respectful.

Sure, I had fictional crushes. I got into loads of fandoms. I occasionally stumbled into stories that were definitely not written with my age group in mind. I spent a certain amount of time online, though I also went out a lot to play with other kids and socialize. None of that is exactly new.

What surprises me is how many kids seem to be creating and treating fandom discourse like a full-time job and being bratty about things that aren’t for them. At that age, I was mostly hopping between hyperfixations, making up stories, and then going outside when my friends texted me. The internet was a hobby, not my entire worldview.

Maybe I’m sounding old, but finding out some of the loudest people in these arguments are barely in middle school makes a looooot of things click into place. It’s not even the interests themselves that surprise me— kids have always been curious and wandered into spaces they probably shouldn’t. It’s the level of investment. The certainty. The unhealthy level of obsession and parasocialism, and the lack of respect that these CHILDREN seem to have. The way some seem to build their whole identity around online discourse.

Meanwhile, I was busy being cringe, touching grass, and moving on to my next fictional healthy obsession three minutes later.

And, of course, their attitudes. At that age, I was always polite to people, online or otherwise. We learnt a lot about empathy and thinking about others, which is something these kids lack.

I mean— dude… These children not only stumbled into someone else’s house, but they’re also acting like they’re the ones who own it, rearranging the furniture, yelling at the residents, and then getting shocked and furious when people point out they’ve lived there for years.

Kids ending up in fandom spaces, reading things they’re probably too young for, having fictional crushes, and getting way too invested in characters? That’s been happening since the dawn of the internet. It’s why a lot of us grew up being weird kids (that, and also real life hyperfixations).

What’s weird is the attitude of walking into communities that existed long before they arrived and immediately trying to rewrite all the rules and harassing the directors and actors who’ve worked so hard to bring it to life. It’s like showing up halfway through a movie and demanding everyone change the plot because you don’t like what’s happening.

Mind you, they don’t even KNOW what’s happening in the game. If they did, they’d know that Valko is important to the main story and has been foreshadowed. If they did, they’d know they can ignore him if they don’t like him. If they did know, they wouldn’t be playing a game made for adults and ruining the entire game for it’s intended audience and being so ungrateful over something that doesn’t affect them— that they were never supposed to even be a part of— that they have to tear down a beautiful character that was made with so much love from the development team who had worked so hard on him and made the game we all know and love.

The antis don’t love the game, they just loved the idea of an unhealthy parasocial relationship where they simp over a character so much that it is physically and mentally so bad for them. For a character who wouldn’t even like them. So ‘we’ does not refer to them.

I’m not bashing on them for not knowing. They’re kids. That’s why they shouldn’t be here.

I’m bashing on them for deciding to join a community made for an older audience, barely understand anything, and immediately act like they have the authority to decide what should stay and what should be removed.

There’s a difference between saying “this isn’t for me” and demanding that everyone else change because you personally don’t like something.

Maybe this is my “back in my day” moment— though I wouldn’t call myself old at all, but when I was that age and found myself in spaces clearly meant for older people, my first thought wasn’t “everyone here needs to change.” It was “oh, maybe this space wasn’t made for me.”

If I felt tempted to stay— something I don’t recommend but I didn’t know better at that age— I treated people with respect and didn’t whine and cry over not getting what I wanted with others when I knew I wasn’t even supposed to be there. I didn’t expect everyone else to rearrange an entire community around my personal preferences.

Kids being online every now and then isn’t the issue. The issue is them looking into things they were not meant to see at that age and being disrespectful to the adults and the fandom that have been here from the beginning. The world doesn’t revolve around their experience, and that’s something they need to learn.

I hope that the internet becomes more regulated one day and that there are better ways to separate age groups online (with privacy-respecting methods, not invasive systems or AI guessing people’s ages). Certain spaces exist for certain audiences for a reason.

Kids need room to be kids. They need time away from screens, time to socialize, time to explore other interests, and time to learn basic things like boundaries, discipline, respect, and understanding that not every space revolves around them.

And again, this isn’t me saying “kids shouldn’t be online ever.” That would be unrealistic. A lot of us grew up with the internet (before it was the mess it is now). A lot of us found communities, hobbies, and creativity through it.

But there’s a difference between being a young person exploring the internet and being a young person who has made the internet their entire reality.

At the end of the day, kids need guidance. They need to learn that “I don’t like this” doesn’t automatically mean “this should not exist.” They need to learn that other people have different tastes, different experiences, and different boundaries and that it’s okay for something that you don’t like to exist because maybe someone else enjoys it or maybe it’s important and serves purpose for something bigger.

They also need to learn that not every space online is meant for them and, no matter if it’s real life or online, they need to respect every space.

Just like in real life, different places have different audiences, expectations, and rules. You wouldn’t walk into a private club, a workplace, or a conversation between adults and immediately demand everyone change the environment to suit you. Online spaces work the same way.

Being curious is normal. Exploring new interests is normal. Finding fandoms and communities is normal. But part of growing up is learning when to step back, recognize “this might not be for me,” and respect the people who are already there.

The internet is a huge place with room for everyone— but that doesn’t mean every corner of it is meant for every person. If you find a corner you do like, have discipline, etiquette, respect, have some maturity, and learn more before joining.

I hope kids can be kids again one day, instead of being entitled internet brats meddling in spaces that were never meant for them. They’ll only get themselves into a lot of unnecessary trouble and face adult consequences for their bratty actions if they don’t.

No wonder these people were so immature and lacked basic knowledge + comprehension and embarrassed themselves by showing that said lack of knowledge confidently (that’s not to say everyone is a minor or that all minors are disrespectful. I know quite a few respectful kids, both in my family and as a babysitter. The antis are probably a mix of minors and adults. Remember: adults can be brainless morons too.)

We need to restrict internet access and let kids be kids again.

Okay okay I’m still on Mairuma I’m never leaving but I just remembered smth and have to say it here.

Given how much positive influence Iruma has done in the netherworld, it’s not just gonna be the Misfits and closest pals that’re gonna be affected.

Imagine the Barbatos clan ending their peace agreement with the Crowns because Iruma’s gone (and its the fault of a Crown, no less, with Sullivan unable to do anything), and hence causing the Netherworld to fall into chaos with the legendary heroes no longer aligning themselves with the Crowns.

Hell that might be the consequence Baal is going for.

Following the post I made yesterday about Sullivan, I really wanna do a deep dive going into my last statement I made in that ramble:

Samael Sullivan has not changed.

From chapter 1 all the way up until 451, we’ve seen plenty of characters grow and change as the story went on. Even more subtle changes like with Kalego and Opera. But throughout that whole time, there’s one character who hasn’t grown or changed.

Samael Sullivan.

Now, that probably does sound ridiculous, doesn’t it? I mean, Sullivan used to be Derkila’s retainer! A serious nagger! But look at the keywords there. “Used to”. His time as Derkila’s retainer is long in the past, much like the 10 ft tall twunk himself.

Currently, we are dealing with present day Sullivan. The Three Greats member voted most likely to become the Demon King. The headmaster of Babyls. Iruma’s adoptive grandfather who spoils him to bits and loves to dote on and be affectionately overbearing (in a good way).

But… if you’ll notice… that statement applies to Sullivan during his entire runtime.

Of course you can make generalized statements about other characters: Sabnock is the tough, strong headed rival to Iruma, Jazz is the big brotherly thief, etc. But each of their characters still have some nuance and growth to them, especially Jazz two arcs ago with Rock.

But Sullivan, from the start of the series, up until now, has stayed the same. Spoils Iruma, dotes on him, makes him the priority in his life.

Iruma is Sullivan’s priority.

Whenever he’s actively threatening or attacking an enemy, it’s because of Iruma. Nothing else.

Sullivan is imprisoned and gets a note to come back? Drop everything and forget the investigation! Iruma needs him!

Atori attacks Babyls and almost kidnaps Iruma? Sullivan’s there to nearly kill him.

But… Sullivan doesn’t do any real heavy lifting. He sends the teachers and Opera to do the rest, such as dispatching Ocho when he invaded Babyls. Especially Kalego, a fact that makes the latter absolutely loathe Sullivan.

As I said before, it’s Kalego who lays out the seeds and tells us exactly what Sullivan’s flaws are. He is reckless, impulsive, airheaded, and is extremely partial to Iruma, a fact that, in itself, causes some problems.

Recall how Sullivan was very ready to help Iruma cheat on the exams were it not for Opera? And how Sullivan let Shiida stay as a teacher thanks to Iruma’s request? He bends over backwards for Iruma. Not to mention how often Sullivan caused Iruma problems (see S1 and the interview after Walter Park in S2).

This, too, is another factor in how I think Sullivan doomed himself. The Trickster Plan, despite its description, is inherently flawed, because it’s heavily partial towards the grandkids of the Three Greats, despite the misfits being chosen by the tutors and 2 other Crowns having children of their own. After all, the announcement of the Trickster Plan was made after the spotlights illuminated specifically the Greats and their grandchildren. Not the Azazels or Asmodeous’ (Henri gets a pass tho), just them.

But back on Kalego’s statements, at no point since then does Sullivan actively become less reckless, less impulsive, or more clear headed.

After Baal’s statement in the recent chapter, it even has me relook at the Scala arc, and Henri’s usage of Derkila’s crest in that scene. Even if it was Henri that wanted to use it, given that Iruma’s Scala took place there, who’s to say Sullivan wasn’t ready to get Lady Levi and Belial on board to agree to the stamp to protect his grandson?

In short, Sullivan’s growth is slim to none, and that’s caused him to mess up so badly and be exploited and cornered by Baal.

Or perhaps this is in part due to the fact that Sullivan is constantly away doing other things, such as his duties as one of the Three Greats. So we end up having less of him, especially in later chapters.

Edit: Forgot to add this. But Sullivan knows what his flaws are and he hasn’t changed despite that. He accepts himself, and that’s what screws him up because he accepts a flawed version.

Chapter 29!! End of "Season One"!!

I 100% believe Baal is going to betray Narnia. And their relationship is not as equal as Narnia claims.

Explanation below the cut.

Let’s start at the beginning of Narnia and Baal’s arrangement: the recommendation letters for the Six Fingers as teachers at each school.

Who recommends them in the first place? Not their leader, Baal. No, it’s Narnia. Deputy chief of Border Patrol. We see after Atori’s actions that Narnia is the prime suspect for allowing such dangerous foes to exist in the school.

Meanwhile, Baal is completely void of suspicion. He might be antagonistic in some instances, but he has never actually hinted to anyone that he is the leader of the Six Fingers. At least, not to anyone that isn’t on his side.

In short, Narnia is the suspect, and likely the one who is going to get beaten down first. And if Baal sees or is confronted? He’s absolutely selling out Narnia, the bigger suspect, for his own gain.

Narnia’s motivations and actions are purely self-serving, and I don’t believe Baal will like someone like Narnia to stay forever. Especially since we know about Narnia’s monologue after Henri confronted him, and his actions at the beginning of this arc. He’s very willing to act on his own. And as we saw with Atori, that absolutely pisses Baal off.

Narnia is making himself look more and more villainous and heinous the longer the story goes on. At this point, why would they believe Narnia if he tries to sell out Baal? Even if they have Balam using Buzzer, we’ve seen with Atori and Shiida that someone can not lie, but still be incredibly shifty and untrustworthy.

TLDR: Baal is making Narnia look more suspicious.

Sullivan messed up on his own.

Let’s be real here, Baal is 100% a manipulative villain, but the fact he’s able to get this far is because of Sullivan’s reckless actions.

Derkila’s stamp says enough. He chose to use it to halt the investigation into him, with the assistance of Belial and Lady Levi, which could imply they likely know something more than we’re led to believe.

And it’s because of this one action that let Baal come this far and use Shura to tear down the Three Greats’ entire standing.

Baal is correct, and that’s the scariest (or best) part of him being a villain. He’s correct and he knows it. Using Derkila’s stamp like this was an abuse of power. It wasn’t like when Henri used it versus Narnia, because it was a clear breach of power Henri sought the final answer to (tho considering Iruma was involved, I wonder how much of that decision was impartial). Not only is he appeasing to Shura using pathos, he’s using logos to dismantle the platform the Three Greats have built for themselves, while establishing himself as someone more reliable using ethos.

Sullivan likely didn’t think twice about how using Derkila’s stamp would affect his own performance, esp cause this is like, what, a year later? But the seeds were there from the beginning. Kalego directly calls Sullivan impulsive and reckless; someone who docks pay on a whim.

Sullivan can be serious, but he also does not have the forethought to see how his actions could affect the future, something that makes it clear he’s not fit to be a Demon King, and the worst part is that he knows he’s not fit to rule.

A man who accepts his fate will seek no change in himself.

This is exhausting… Infold is… tiresome now. There’s nothing else I can say. The company isn’t bad, they just dug their own grave. It’s just… tiring to keep this up.

I still want to make something good out of what Infold has failed to do. I think all of us want to.

You encourage or bow to toxic behavior, the behavior will continue. It’s… awful. But I can’t defend Infold at this point. Not anymore.

I want Valko, I want Zayne, I want Sylus. My brother wants Rafayel. My friends want Caleb and Xavier. And I will give them to myself and to others. And I hope that the rest of the fandom can do the same, no matter where they are.

We can still make something good out of this, I’d think… I’d hope. We can be better. We can give each other the joy Infold sadly could not give us.
