Blogging throughout this semester was very challenging at times. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. This was my first time doing a blog and creating a tumbler page, so that was pretty exciting.  At first I was on the edge about writing a blog every week from the beginning of the semester to the end. I didn’t know what to expect and I didn't know what I was doing at first because I was never a have a fan of writing until now. I've been writing for weeks now, I am more confident in writhing my blogs on weekends and writing in general.

Writing my blogs throughout this semester I am more comfortable and confident in my writing skills. I saw myself progressing greatly and I hope that this will continue. I never thought I would be saying this but I am. I know that I have many issues that I still need to continue and work on like building up my vocabulary level and using proper grammar. Submitting my blogs every week shows that I am changing and I'm improving my writing. Writing the blogs based on different topics helped me the most because I am giving my own opinions on the topics.Also, I never knew how much I had to say about a topic until I started writing these blogs. Not only did I had the chance to give my opinion but I had the chance to see other people point of view also. I am not a fan of writing at all but doing these blogs might change my mind on how I view writing overall.

I am so proud of how far I came because I always doubt myself on all my work. I always think low of myself because I was never confident child but now it’s all about to change. Throughout these weeks, I saw myself becoming an excellent writer and I really hope to continue after this class.

EC-Food

The love I have for food is very special. I rely on food to get through my day, and without it I would probably be a crazy ass girl. Food keeps me going and it puts me in an happy mood. It keeps my body functioning and working correctly. Food is one of the thing that makes me really happy. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I use food as a way to calm me down. Eating food that I love brings warmth to my heart. Even though some people might think that I don't eat that much because I am skinny. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG, I eat 24/7 and I eat a lot. I'm always eating around the clock just like my dad. All we do is eat and sleep. Home cooked meals are the best. I think it taste way better than other kind of food. I would take a home cook meal over any fast food. Home cooked meals are amazing and they are the best meals that a person could ever have. I love home cooked meals because they are made from scratch in the kitchen. Some of my favorite home cooked meals that I love are: Fried dumplings Ackee Fried breadfruit Fried chicken Oxtail Rice & peas Fish Ribs Boiled dumplings Macaroni White rice Pork Curry chicken Pumpkin soup Festival BBQ chicken Curry goat Stew peas Cow foot All the list goes on... It's so hard being away from home without no home cooks meals. Sometimes I struggled because I just want home cooked meals in my system. That is why when I go back home from breaks, I always make sure that I have a few days worth of cooked meals. PS: I'm very lucky to have parents that knows how to cook really well and have the same passion for food as much I do.

This blog is dedicated to my mother. I don’t know what I would do without you or who I would become if you weren’t a part of my life. My grandma created the most beautiful human being. You’re caring, loving, hardworking, intelligent, loyal, and the list goes on. You’re always there whenever I need a shoulder to lean on or one to cry on. Other than my pops you’re my other provider, you’re my rock, my twin, my shining star. Whenever I need anything you’ll find your way out and get it for me, even if you are running low on cash you’ll find a way to get me what I want.

           I have so many favorite songs but one of my favorite song is “Thank You Mama” by Sizzla. He is a famous Jamaican artist. He had many popular hits in the 1990s. His genre of music is reggae, which many people enjoy. People all over the world would listen to people like Bob Marley R. I. P., Vybz  Kartel, Popcaan, etc because they are more popular these days. Few people know Sizzla because he not really out there anymore but I think that people should go and check him out.

BLOG 10

My project is based on the importance on technology in teens lives and how it is affecting them daily. I focus more on young adults around my age group, because I felt like it is appropriate since I am around the same age as them. For my project, I will be conducting a survey that my suite mates will complete. I choose my suite mates for this survey because I live with them and sometimes I don’t even see them for days. Every time that all of us hang out in the lounge they would be on their phones. I want my suite mates to complete the survey about how important technology is to them and what they would do if they didn’t have it for a day or two.

I realized that they always on their phones, and they would text each other, even if they are in the next room. I want my suite mates to talk more and interact with each other more often. I want all of us to have movie nights, games nights and some chill nights without our phones. Sometimes I think it is good that we don’t use or go on our phones for a couple of hours. My generation don’t like to have conversation face to face like older generations. Now, all young adults do is text each other even if they are across the room from each other. Young adults are so glued to their technology that probably they couldn’t last a day without using a technology.

           I will try to solve my gap of understanding how young adults uses technology daily. Doing the survey with my suite mates will help me fulfill my gap for my project. Young adults rely on technology just like they rely on their parents to help provide for them on a daily basics. Young adults are so into technology these days because it is the new wave. Majority of these young adults don’t even play board games, have conversations with their family members without being on their phones or even hang out with their siblings. These teens would spend hours watching the television, playing video games, lurking on social media, etc. Majority of these teens are not active because they are not getting enough exercising that their body needs.  Some teens would go for runs, play basketball, football, and workout but the others would just sit there and play around on their phones.

GAPPPPPPP

We see and use it every day. This is not going to change because the world revolved it. For our third project, we are looking for scholarly gap in our previous research paper. Finding out what is missing from our research paper might be a challenge. We are looking for what is missing from the scholarly researcher article and applying it to our research and try to find a way to solve and answer the missing gap. At first I didn’t know what is the gap but I soon to realize that the gap was missing information from an article. I still don’t think that I got the right definition down on pack. I feel like this scholarly gap have so many different definitions that are right or wrong.  

In my research from the previous project I talked about how technology was isolating teens from the real world that was around them. I focus that research on how teens were affected. It was affecting their daily lives and the people around them. Teens wouldn’t have any time for their family members because they are too busy playing with their technology devices. Teens these days use technology as a device that they rely on to get by with each day. Without technology, these teens would be bored and annoyed. Some teens like their technologies more than how they like their family members. Some of these teens rather talk on the internet with complete strangers than have a conversation with their family members, or have a nice dinner with them without being on their technology devices. Teens that are always on their cellphones have a higher risk of walking into danger because they are so into their devices. They are not looking out for what is ahead of them.

Technology is a good thing to have and know how to use it, but it can cause problems. Teens need to know how to be aware of the use of having too much technology. Too much use of technology can affect teens that they don’t even know how they are being affected. Technology leading into danger is a major problem. I think that the missing scholarly gap that was missing how can we prevent technologies from isolating so many teens in today’s world. Technology is the main focal point in this world and it is everywhere around us. Can we even prevent teens from being so isolated from the world? How can we stop teens from walking into danger with their devices?

College Tuition!

There’s so many things going on in the world right now it’s very hard to just pick one. But there’s one that I want to talk about, and that is college tuition. This is something that is very important to students and families. College tuition is something that many students are afraid of in order to start their college journey and further their education. Because the tuition is so high many students is unable to pay it, because their loans doesn’t cover it all, or they don’t get financial aid from the government.

Students isn’t getting enough help they need, and that’s the biggest concern we are facing today. Because they aren’t getting the help they need, they’re forced to quit college or worst, they can’t even attend college, because they can’t pay the bill. I think we should discuss in class ways that we can help prevent that. There’s so many ways in my opinion that I think can help them. The government needs to realize that these students are very committed to their study, and they should get the help they deserve.

Under tuition there’s so much more that a student have to go through on a daily basis. Some of these students have to work 2 jobs just too keep up with their bills. We as students already have to buy the expensive textbooks that is required and get no help what so ever. Tuition shouldn’t add on to the stress that we’re already facing. We need to figure out a way on how to help solve this issue. How we can all go to college to further our education and make our dreams come through. It hurts that some students can’t make that happen and nobody is doing anything to help solve it. We need everyone to be aware that this is a problem in our society. A problem that we need solutions too. and make it possible for everyone to have the right to attend college.

COLLEGE TUITION, the struggles. This topic we should talk about. Colleges shouldn’t be so expensive because not a lot of students have money to pay the tuition each semester. Some students don’t get financial aid to help with the tuition. Some students rely on loans from the school or private loans to help them pay the tuition. Not all students can afford college tuition, and therefore some students don’t continue their education after High School. College tuition are so much money and it is another extra stress on their shoulder that they must think about. One of the reason why college students struggled in college is because of how much it cost.

Let’s Talk.

In class we try to talk about a lot of things, so far all of the topics we have discussed to me have been important. One topic that we should discuss that I feel very strongly about is pollution and preserving the planet. We talk about this briefly when it comes up but we never go too much in depth on the issue. Our planet is slowly deteriorating right in front of our eyes and we are the main cause of it. Pollution affects everything around us, birth defects in babies, IQ points dropping and even the lowering of life expectancy.

 The major types of pollution are land, air, water, light and noise. Even though some of these things don’t affect us humans directly they do affect the environment. In some places damage is way to irreversible, for example, China’s air is so bad that sometimes they cannot even go outside. It is said that pollution in China can even change weather patterns in the United States in which can stop clouds from producing rain and snow. All it takes is a jet stream five days to carry the heavy air pollution our way. We should talk of ways to help preserve what we have left and ways to prevent it. If we don’t preserve what we have now what will be left as time goes on?

 The world changes around us everyday now imagine if we continue neglecting the issue of pollution what it will be like.  There are many ways everyone can do their part and help out. We may not feel like it or think oh we don’t need to but in reality we really do. Ever since we were kids they told us about the risks of what could happen if we don’t help out and do our part. Now that I actually opened my eyes to what is going around us it scares me to think of what will the future hold for this planet. Looking at the earth now and in years to come we need to look and question whether or not it will get better or worse. If we continue to neglect the pollution going on around us we may end up just like China or maybe even worse. The future is in our hands and we seem to not really see it, we can control what happens. But the real issue is what happens if we wait too long to change? What if?

This is a very interesting topic; this topic never came across my mind until you mention it. You’re right, when you said “Our planet is slowly deteriorating right in front of our eyes and we are the main cause of it”. We as humans need to do better because we are not only affecting our own planet, but we are affecting ourselves. We are the problem why our planet or country is this way. We are treating our environment terribly because we are polluting the place. Some people throw garbage in the rivers, lakes, seas, and the factories are polluting the air also.

Textbooks breaking my pockets

I think an issue we can talk about in class is the amount students have to pay every semester when it time to purchase textbooks for class. I myself am a broke college student and having to come out of pocket when a textbook has to be purchased makes me want to cry every time. The thought of having to look at the syllabus a professor hands out and I see under required materials textbooks need to be purchased. It’s very draining when you have no support and you’re trying to be responsible and do everything on your own. Coming into college I said I would get a job and not ask for any assistance but lord I think I made the wrong decision trying to do everything on my own.

Each semester textbooks can range from $80 dollars to $145 dollars. I had a class once that needed 3 books for one semester. I got lucky because they weren’t that expensive then I had another class and the textbook price was out of this world. I really started to question do I really need this book because I would hate coming out of pocket buying a textbook that will only be used maybe a couple of times. Students are also giving the chance to rent/buy the books used but it’s like a scavenger hunt trying to find all the books you need at once with all the other students trying to do the same thing.

I was reading an article and it was based on how much college students have to come out of pocket. It also stated that since 2006 the cost of textbooks went up 73%. That’s crazy! It’s bad enough students have to worry about making tuition payments, and trying to take care of themselves a cost of a textbook is the last thing I would want to think about.

I hope and pray the next time I have to buy a textbook it won’t be expensive or even when I open up my next syllabus and look at required materials there won’t be nothing there or maybe I’ll get lucky and won’t need to purchase a textbook.

Yesssss!!! We should talk about this in class. The prices for some of these textbooks are ridiculous and these professors required us to have the textbooks for class the first week of school. Some professor would hit students with this line “if you don’t have the book for this course then don’t expect you’re going to pass my class”. They always say the students who have the textbook have a higher chance of passing the class, compare to a student who doesn’t have the textbook. Students worrying about the school tuition, food, transportation, trying to get some decent grades, etc. Now the same students worrying about buying textbooks for class, that these professors’ barley used for the class. Not every student get book deferment or get finical aid to help them with school.

Well why don’t we take a walk in their shoes?

There are many interesting topics we’ve discussed in my English class, and I feel engaged in thought with each one. If I was to choose a topic that we really haven’t touched on, I would say an important topic to help understand that is affecting everyone in the world would be Syrian refugees.

With each day that goes by in America, we have these ethnocentric issues knocking on our television sets and cell phone screens. It isn’t on the top of everybody’s mind to think about everyone in the world, and how they are spending the same day.

When I watch the news (if I even decide to turn it on) the most severe issues going on overseas are just brushed upon..

I can’t stand what is going on in the middle east.

In politics, especially now (with Trump) it is consistently spoken about building this ‘wall.’

I don’t know what is pushing him so hard to keep America this hardcore “American-born-only” place, but I was brought up understanding that America was Freedom. America was a safe-haven for all..

Throughout all time people have been dictated and oppressed. America was the solution..

War in the Middle East has occurred for centuries, yet finally those who are caught up in the terror and horrors of everyday life due to extremist religious groups have a CHANCE to just get the hell away from it.

Now we have a nominee for our PRESIDENT who is an extreme Islamophobe. Our current state in the matter is we are still letting people in, but why is it even an issue?

People are conditioned in in every social setting, but the blame put on a certain group of people just for attempting to survive makes absolutely no sense to me. I think that people should be much more open-minded when it comes to this issue of the Syrian refugees, and pretty much any person who is just trying to better themselves and their families.

I am severely troubled by what goes on overseas, and I know that there have been attacks all over because of these same terrorist groups, who also murder people from their own home-countries. We take our safety for granted here in America, but then I guess that brings up the whole other issue of government control and probably why there are people who stand by Trump and his (pardon my opinion) trash talk.

This topic stands as fairly controversial, but I think it is worth talking about and educating ourselves on. This goes to anyone who reads this blog.

What stood out to me the most is the title of this blog, “well why don’t we take a walk in their shoes”. I like this title it tells a story about something. It’s pretty much saying how would react if you were in that situation. I don’t know how I would react because I was never in that situation. I would probably lose my mind. I find this blog very interesting because you mention a major problem in overseas countries. Innocent people are dying in their own country, and the others are trying to escape the terrifying life that are living. These people are being murder and we can’t even do anything about it. Someone needs to put a stop to this the horrifying life that these humans are living.

RACE

At first I didn't know what issues I wanted to talk about. There are so many issues in the United States that bothers me. This country is full with so many issues that could never be solved, at least no time soon. This country is supposed to be based on equality for race but some people are being treated unfairly because on their race or skin color. For example, a black person will never have equal treatment as a white person. Discrimination against race is an issue that many people in this country face. Whether it’s a black African American, a Muslim, Jew, or any other race. So many of our black African American men die because they portrayed as the criminals. Black people never have the chance to tell their side of story because their stories doesn't matter. It is their words against the police officer or officers that was present at the scene. And of course, the police officer or officers are going to have the advantage over a black African American live. Over the summer that just passed so many black African American died because a police officer or officers shot and killed them. Some of these police officers don't even give these people the chance to talk, because these police officers are so hype up to start shooting because they believe that these people have a weapon on them. For example, three months ago Philando Castile was shot and killed by a police officer. His girlfriend and a child was in the car when he was killed by the officer, but the officer did not care. An innocent child witnessing someone getting killed by the people who is supposed to protect them. I honestly don't know why how some of these police officers became cops. It's like they magically got up one day and start killing someone's child, father, husband, brother, or uncle. This system in America is so messed up because if it was a white person in the shoe of a black African American then it would've been different situation. I'm 99 percent sure that the white person wouldn't be killed but more likely to be arrested. Black African American men are the main targets these days. You never know if one of your family members are going to be next tomorrow. No one’s life is promise, you could be here today and gone tomorrow.

Immigration

My father came into this country because he wanted better for himself and better for his family. He came here because people told him that it was the land of opportunity and there's opportunities everywhere in this country. My father wanted to provide for his family and he didn't want his family to worry because he would take care of the household. 

So many people travel in and out of the United States each day. Some people come in this country to visit family members, friends, for vacations, for school, get jobs, or even for a better life for themselves or for their families.  Everyone said America is the land of opportunities; so is it really when other people trying to fight you out. This country welcome everyone from all around the world. 

This presidential election is getting out of control. This country all started with immigrants. Immigrants helped built this nation called the United States of America. Other than the Native Americans there was no one else here but immigrants. Many slaves came to the United States from Africa to work on plantations. They didn't have any choice but they did it. Immigrants from all over the world came into this country so that they could be free from the life that they were living in the past. People run away from their country because of abusive relationships, crimes, less education, no jobs, etc. Some people want to start off fresh in the United States but they are getting treated like animals because they weren’t born into this country. If this is the land of opportunities, then everyone should have the chance to start fresh. 

The issues with immigration is outrageous. You can't say everyone that is not a citizen a criminal because that is not true. I'm not saying that coming into this country illegally is permitted. But it's the fact that these people are looking for a new start. Donald trump talking about building a wall against the Mexican border is going to stop people from coming into the United States. Trump speech in Phoenix, Arizona on immigration was clear that he is going to “remove criminals, gang members, security threats, visa overstay, and public charge immigrants out of the country”. Hillary Clinton on the other hand saying that, “illegal immigrants should be deported and this country need borders”. Desperate people are still going to find a way to into the United States. You cannot isolate the United States from the neighbors. Doing this wall will cause conflicts, if this issue didn’t start creating problems already.

Both presidential candidates Trump and Clinton had terrible things that they did and say in the past, but they had second chances. I am looking forward to this election as a first year voter but I didn’t consider I had to choose between these awful people. Don’t vote for someone because of what you hear other people say about them. Actually start reading or watch their video speeches to get a feel of who they really are first.

I did not like the fact that you were all over the place with your blog. To be honest I was a bit confused. I like that part where you said that, “when we looked at the Willard suitcases I think we all agreed that the images were powerful”. It is a very sad story to hear about the people who was at the rehab center. It seems like their family members didn’t care about them or they were not fit to be a part of society. Society didn’t want them to be known because they didn’t have the abilities for the society.

Power

As I saw this topic I immediately think of the TV show Power. I only watch the first season and the first episode. I have always wanted to watch the other episodes and the seasons of Power. Every time I would go and watch it on TV it would tell me that I need to buy the channel in order to watch it. Every time I try to watch it, something always interferes me from watching it. Hearing people talking about it bugs the shit out of me because I can’t watch it. I really want to watch this show so bad.

Life

It was the very last race of the high school cross country season. It all came down to this one single moment to prove that every drop of sweat, every ounce of blood and all the multiple tears that we had willingly shed during the grueling practices were actually worth it. Every place counts here, and every second on the clock matters. Unfortunately though, from the looks of it, it was a very muddy course. With these types of terrains, every step you take you slide backwards one step too. It was definitely enough to hold even the most elite runners back. Having all of that in mind as I approached the starting line, my anxiety was at an all-time high.

           The official called out to us all in a booming voice that echoed in a sickening way, to take a few steps back before allowing us to run up to the line. Once we all had our foot directly behind the line as instructed, the last minute calls of good luck ceased and we waited for the gun to directly signal our start. Seconds that felt like hours ticked by until finally the gun blew and all the runners, including myself, were off. The crowd started shouting once more so loud that it almost sounded like a roar! Trying to get a good spot in the race as early as I possibly could, I used my legs power to stride out with a sudden confidence and a burst of energy that evaded me for so long before that. I felt surprisingly great and I had a plan to keep myself going on pace like that until the very end. My eyes were set forward to the path I needed to follow, paying no attention to anyone around me. It was just me, and the path.

About a 150 meters out and I had spotted my first challenge. This challenge was a huge mud pit. It was a dare for everyone to jump over it and move on, or to chance running through it and falling victim to its vast depths and getting stuck.

           I decided to try to leap over it. I tried my hardest to time it correctly but something happened where I lost my footing so I stepped directly into the pit… in a slow motion, swift movement I pulled my leg out from the mud only to reveal that my shoe had been swallowed up by it and I froze.

I looked around frantically; everything around me was still moving. The runners didn’t stop, the cheerers didn’t stop cheering, the timer definitely didn’t stop, and the only one stopped was me. I was frozen for quite a while until I finally remembered the oath I had placed upon myself, just a few moments before. I knew that I could still fight through to have a good race and I knew that it wasn’t an option to give up so I simply had to fix what had gone wrong.

           I quickly shrugged my shoulders a few times and then jumped down to the ground to retrieve my shoe and fasten it back on. Hundreds of runners were moving on past me by the time I was done, however there was nothing I could do about that. The only thing I could do from there on out was try my best to gain the ground I lost.

           Once I caught up to some of my teammates I stayed with them until the finish. They helped me to push myself despite all that went wrong during this exceptionally hard race.

Although it didn’t turn out to be the glorious run I thought it would be, and I didn’t get a great time or place, I can look back and be proud to say that despite being put at a disadvantage I persevered until the finish. At the end of the day, having that driven mentality and getting to that final goal you have for yourself is all that matters.

  Plus now I know that it’s important to have my shoes tied just a little bit tighter on the daily… just in case any ‘mud pits’ pop up in my path.

OMG!!! I can totally relate to your blog. I also ran cross country in high school too. It was not easy running those 5k runs in the mud against so many athletes, from different schools. I like the part where you said, “every place counts here, and every second on the clock matters”. I never knew how much time/ seconds mean until I started running. Every seconds count when running a race. Having a good mind set can help your race when running. Running those long races can be a challenge especially if you are not in a good positon from the beginning of the race.

Frog Blog

          Every year, for seventeen years, my whole family plans all year for our annual family vacation to Sunset Bay Beach, New York. When I say whole family, I mean parents, brother, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and sometimes even our friends come. Sunset Bay is a quaint beach surrounded by numerous cottages and summer residents. Every year we rent the same two cottages for a week. So just imagine how many memories come from this family vacation!            Being the animal lovers that my cousins and I are, we rush to go see the ducks, toads and fish as soon as we arrive. This rush kicks off our sense of adventure and sends us into “toad- searching” mode. We excitedly flip over all the logs, we look under the cottages, and we even scan the weeds carefully. My competitive nature kicks in as we look for as many toads as we can, usually little ones, in hopes of a prize we all know my grandma will have ready. We also know she always has a huge toad house that includes a pool that is completely enclosed. This always gave us kids a chance to take pictures, count, play with, and admire all the toads that we managed to catch on our hunt. Loving nature as much as I do, I always knew when it was time to free the toads back into their natural habitats. One particular year that stands out the most was when my cousin Kayla and I found these extremely fat toads with big bellies and bulging eyes. Instead of playing with them in the pool like we usually did, we decided we wanted to do something very different. Both of us having vivid imaginations and free-spirited ideas, we came up with this marvelous plan. When no one was watching we decided to artistically paint these fat toads we found. We painted them to look like they were going into a race. One side of the toad was one color while the other side was a different color. They almost looked like the horses that wear the face blinders during races. With a sense of pride we took pictures of our colorful creations and giggled with an uncanny sense of joy. We then announced to our family that we were going to have a surprise creature race. After seeing the looks of confusion on their faces, we awed them with our fancy, colorful toads. Their mouths dropped and silence set in as they tried to comprehend what my cousin and I were about to begin. We then started the race with a ready, set, go as the two toads began hopping. My entire family began yelling and cheering with excitement for their favorite looking toad to win. My sense of winning carried me through the week as the real prize was seeing my entire family smile, laugh and be filled with excitement.           Seeing this, made me come to the realization that my cousin and I got our entire family to bond in a unique way. Although we’ve grown out of the stage of catching toads, it’s a memory that will never be forgotten amongst all of my family. The memories that we were able to make, and will continue to make, at Sunset are irreplaceable. It is completely satisfying to know that I was raised to be able to take the simplest things and turn them into some of the happiest times.

Family is the most important thing someone could have in life. Even if you and your family members may not be on the same page sometimes, you can still count on them at the end of the day. Your family members are always going to be there for you whenever you need them. Reading your blog made my realized how close your family members are from years now. It is amazing to me to see how all your family members come together every year for this special family vacation. This shows that your family is very close, and I hope that this tradition goes on and on in your family.

Same Gender School

This was a new environment for me. Being in the same gender school for six years was very memorable, different, and difficult. I never thought that I would be going to the same gender for six years. It was a public school but somehow I felt like it was a very isolated private school that no one knew about whenever they would ask me what school I go to. People would say that they never heard about the school.

I was in this school from 2009- 2015; I was in there from middle and high school. It was not easy being in the same gender school for so long. Parents thought that being in the same gender school would be beneficial for their child or children but half of the time it wasn’t like that. Sometimes I felt like was best if I had gone to a co-ed high school, because being in this all gender school is just like being in a co-ed.

Some parents believe that if they send their child or children to an all gender school it would be good for them. These parents don’t know that some of these children hate the fact that they were sent to the same gender school. Parents think that if they changing their children school from a co-ed to the same gender school would change the way how their children behavior. Also some parents believe that their children grades would improve from before or they wouldn’t be so distracted. Some of these children form clicks and only hanged out with a certain type of students. I was one of the students who hanged out with a certain group. I didn’t want to associate myself with the wrong crowd of students.

This was a very small school with about 550 students from both middle and high school. I like the fact that my school was very small because majority of the teachers know each student’s name. My school was a college bound school, so we had many opportunities to visit many different colleges from 7th grade through our last year in high school. Not many public school students had the opportunity that I had. It didn’t matter if I attended a co-ed or the same gender school. I didn’t care too much even though it was a new environment for me. I would still work as hard or even harder if I attended a co-ed school. Going to the same gender or a co-ed school shouldn’t define a student ability to work hard for what he or she wants in life.
