Recently, I was reminded of Sanders Sides.

Not only that, I’ve been rewatching Camp Camp.

As such, here’s a crossover.

So. ik that the chances of this being canon are infinitesimal (lol), but what if the entire time Patton was being interviewed up to a certain point it was Janus? Thomas seemed pretty surprised when Janus broke character, but when could he have switched out into Patton? if we’re to believe that each side was being interviewed one at a time, we can assume that up to that point when Janus revealed his updated Patton disguise, Patton was being played by Janus. This would explain the played-up ‘one-sided’ friendship between the two, because Janus was able to say whatever he wanted about both himself and Patton in relation to each other. This also would back up my personal theory that after these past few episodes Patton is trying to take more of a backseat because every time he tries to interact with somebody to fix a problem, something goes south and he ends up getting scolded, hurt, messing up, or alienated, and an easy fix for that would be to have Janus pretend to be him instead, until he either gives it up or gets revealed.

I really love the fandoms consistency that in every episode that Patton is in, there’s almost always a post of screenshots where you can pinpoint the moment his heart breaks. He gets such a crushed look on his face and no you are not allowed to forget

also I think we should discuss the fact that it’s implied patton Hasn’t Drank Wine Before bc he picked it up, took a sip, and looked v displeased when he said “who left this juice out 🙁“

Also are we going to gloss over Patton calling Janus his bestie? Like yes, its cute and charming but think of the implications. How bad are his relationships right now that he considers the guy who claims he mistook him for a trash can his bestie? Especially since Virgil was his bestie for so long??? Sir are you doing good????/

not only that, but another hint at his current mental state was when he seemed really hesitant when Nico was brought up, likely due to the backlash hes received from the sides in the past few episodes where he’s shown up at all— such as Virgil in the end card making a snarky remark about “giving thomas permission to feel”, and still feeling guilty about Moving On (still!!!! you can still see how that episode has had lasting effects on him) but also Selfishness v Selflessness and he simply hasn’t been able to catch a break since then, partly due to the other sides not really being willing to hear him out, partly due to the writers putting him on the back-burner to let the Dark Sides have their moments. If Thomas and the Crew ever decide to write an episode relating to him (which they rlly should imo) I think a really interesting character arc is right around the corner for him, he really does have so much depth as a character that gets overlooked both in canon and as a fandom
