I’d be nothing without @valorcorrupt.

*gazes off into the distance* @valorcorrupt? I haven’t heard that name in years.

apparently, I joined this tumblr place at 03/11/2016 12:41:32 PM.
in case the url change isn’t a huge giveaway, i am in the process of archiving/revamping!
i’ve already started following people (whoops), though I’ll likely still be on here for a few days until i get the other blog really up and going, at which point you’ll see the obnoxious post spam about how i’ve moved etc. etc.
for those of you who are long time followers, most of the rules on the new blog haven’t changed. the biggest changes are going to be:
fel in her mainverse, obviously, which might change the dai story in some tangible ways, which i finally mention.
going super private and super selective, for my own sanity. i will unfollow blogs i don’t interact with after a span of 4-5 months, even if we talk ooc (though, if we do, i’ll definitely offer up my discord). i just want to keep the dash from getting to what i have now.
because i’m so selective, pretty much everyone i follow is like a main. i still have mains / exclusives for formality…but chances are you’re already in what i consider her mainverse.
and, no surprise, expect my activity to still be slow. it it’s not, great…but i don’t want to create the expectation that it’s going to be super fast paced now, either.
i’m hoping to streamline her character a bit, and that might mean a few changes. nothing too drastic, she’s still theria with a shitty sense of humour, but i do feel like, while being here so long has allowed me to really explore her character and have fun…i feel like i haven’t been doing justice to all of her, even the unpretty parts, and i want a space to start over, where she can snap and yell and grieve and exist fully. i also think i’ve kind of lost a bit of the focus i once had…so yeah.
in that vein, i won’t be holding her reactions back. i feel like i have been sometimes, for harmonious rp, and i want to stop it. i know i hate confrontation, but she really doesn’t so.
over the next few days, i’ll be reblogging the old threads i’m keeping. i hope this number won’t exceed 10. if i don’t keep an old thread of yours, please don’t think this means i don’t want to keep our muses relantionship ! i just…can’t overwhelm myself again if i want to have any hope of being active.
those are the big ones. like i said, i’ll still be around here for a little bit, this isn’t immediate…but it’s very much in process !
at the risk of getting mushy, i am so grateful for the number of people who followed me here,
even those who are now inactive (which is like half or more, lbr) who still showed and took an interest in my quizzie. it means the world and it wasn’t an easy decision to start over at all. honestly, thank you to everyone who made this blog and experience so much fun and can’t wait for the next one !
Hawke in Inquisition was body snatched and no one can tell me otherwise
it was either another envy demon or it was someone varric hired to put on a wig and say things like “blood magic sucks” and “i sure love kirkwall”
@makercursed
does Theria feel accomplished as Inquisitor? does she feel like she should or could do more, or does she feel satisfied with her efforts, or even like she's done more than enough? how much personal satisfaction does she get from her title?
this is a really good question holy shit. i think the answer to this changes a lot. definitely before corypheus is defeated, there is always the feeling & the fear that they’re not doing enough. a sentiment compounded by the fact that she knows she sometimes lets herself get in the way, be it a stupid comment here or there at the winter palace (something she’s able to weasel out of / get the majority of the court to forget about in the end but something that does chip away or alienate potential allies nonetheless) or the fact that she adamantly refuses ties to andraste even knowing that it’d both ease people’s minds & likely make reaching out for support easier.
not to mention, she’s not at all on top of all of the documents & research required & she often slacks as far as both are concerned because reading & writing aren’t her strengths at all. not everyone sees the corners she cuts as far as documents are concerned but she knows she does it & does feel like it might come around to bite her in the ass. (this isn’t to say she does nothing but, rather, she feels like she ought to be doing a lot more but, often, she finds herself relying on josephine or leliana for the diplomatic & solas, fel or dorian for the magical).
so, yeah, sometimes - a lot of the time - it feels like she’s not doing enough. sometimes there are highs, though; arriving to skyhold, & after we&wh are two big ones. a success that for a while later feels like a huge accomplishment. in game, i did we&wh first, & hlta afterward (which i keep canon for theria), & it really was the wrong order in terms of confidence. so hlta doesn’t feel like a victory, even though everyone tells her it is; she had to run away from the nightmare demon because they weren’t strong enough to fight it, & sacrificing hawke was also a huge personal blow. if anything, hlta terrifies her more for the final fight with corypheus. like, if they barely made it out of the fade alive fighting one of his minions, what will fighting cory be like ?
finally, it doesn’t help that all of the action they do take to stop him (we&wh, hlta, wphw) all fall into her lap, lucky accidents. getting sent into the future gave her an immense tactical advantage…but that was an accident because alexius messed up. hawke showing up with a warden contact who alerted them to the demon army, which they previously had no idea where it would be from ? she did absolutely nothing to uncover that information. morrigan talking about the eluvians & the well ? was only there because of celine, & none of their own research brought them to corypheus’s next plan.
i would say, the feeling of accomplishment is very brief, & generally accompanies the highs. the time she’s felt the most accomplished, then, was finally defeating corypheus. at that point, everything’s fallen into place, all of their efforts have payed off & against all odds, a scrappy team from disparate backgrounds came together to win. i would say that’s a helluva lot of personal satisfaction; even though she didn’t form the inquisition & relied heavily on others; she was undeniably an integral part of the journey & feels very justified celebrating & taking pride in the inquisition’s accomplishments.
but that’s just it, i suppose. it’s the inquisition’s accomplishments, and she’s honoured to have contributed and taken part. so tl;dr of course there are highs where she feels like all of the hard work paid off and like she did really well, but it’s not often that she basks in her own sense of accomplishment rather than the Inquisition’s as a whole.

tbf it never explicitly says a few days but until u do the quest hawke just hangs out on the battlements and like it's never implied in any way that she actually stays in skyhold or anything and also like, if you don't leave her in the fade she just leaves from adamant and doesnt even go back to skyhold at all which is ridiculous to me but yeah bioware's timeline is so bad
fair, yeah. i always assumed that was just another oversight, but very possible they thought hawke is only there a bit. also I HATE SO MUCH the ending of adamant. just you go alone, across the world to deliver this very important message, with no food, no supplies, no regiment of soldiers to accompany and help you. just go, immediately. it’s especially laughable with stroud. marian i’d believe could cross thedas and fuck up anyone and make it to the warden stronghold, although that’s still so ridiculous to send her empty handed. stroud? uh, i don’t at all have that confidence in him. somehow.
#youriinquisitorialness, #&&. codex updated (answered), #{timeline? don't know her, #bioware: hawke was only at skyhold for a few days and-, #me yelling over them: hawke lives in skyhold now},
@makercursed
waitwaitwait they’re trying to tell me hawke was only there a few days ? ??
me: write your drafts finally my brain: SO, ANYWAY, THERIA WOULD LOOK OLDER —
but i do want to actually talk about this. consistently, every president ages dramatically over the years they’re in office and, with all of the stress, it’s really no wonder. having the responsibility of sorting out the world’s problems, you can definitely bet she ages quickly too and, by trespasser, looks older than 34/5, which she is at that point.

me when I first started hawke’s blog: well I need…
this is a big fuckin mood right here
icb hawke and theria are the most powerful people to ever step foot in thedas and anyone who disagrees has to fight me
you heard it here first second, folks !
all of the language posts came across my dash at the right time ?? ? legit had this conversation earlier today with mo . @asomniari
bc you asked for it (or encouraged me):
she’s actually a cocky piece of shit when fighting. she’s good at it and she knows it. (in fact, she considers it the one thing she’s good at). this doesn’t come out usually until one - on - one close combat because, of course, fighting from far away shooting arrows doesn’t really lend itself to taunting your opponent. but i’d imagine when fighting with knives and in smaller groups, she’s surprisingly awful.
if she’s not taunting her enemy, it’s usually because 1. she’s too far away with her bow, 2. she’s injured her jaw or something and it hurts too much to speak or, most likely, 3. she’s terrified / realises she’s going to need to concentrate her full attention on defeating her foe.
generally, she teases warriors more than mages. warriors are slow and it’s easy to dance around them and laugh at how slow they are. it helps that a lot of warriors are burly and / or men with inflated opinions of themselves and fragile egos, which are fun to knock as both a small woman and an elf. mages, however, can fire off deadly spells at the speed of thought so she’s usually in focus mode. also, unlike literally every enemy in the game who shouts ‘get that warrior’, she will always prioritise other rogues or mages in combat.
legit she doesn’t have the highest opinion of warriors, sorry my warrior guys n’ gals. that is open to change - she comes to fiercely respect chantry warrior cassandra, after all - but that takes some work. she’s used to dancing circles (almost literally) around warriors so she doesn’t really give the discipline its proper due.
i mentioned in the tags of that last hc post that, when fighting close combat, her recklessness usually means she walks away with at least one severe injury. this is mitigated some by her tempest capabilities (like, good luck hitting her when you’re burning in your armour) and the magic she gets from the mark, which slows everyone else down, making going for vulnerable points easier. she often goes for the neck, if she can, so they’re down for the count when the fade magic subsides.
that being said, and this is almost a bit odd, but she likes getting hit in a fight. not only is it a marker of a challenge but it also serves to sharpen her focus. of course, not all pain is the same and debilitating pain isn’t good but, like, a nice punch to the face gets her going and stokes her fighting fire.
she often spits after a battle on / in the general vicinity of her enemy, especially if it’s a person she really despised, like grand duchess florienne. she would’ve spat on corypheus but he got torn up til there was nothing left so.
post - trespasser, assuming the elves get magic back, i envision hers to be a lot like a blend of avatar the last air bender and the most recent thor movie. basically, her magic would be rooted in physical fighting (moreso even than the knight enchanter discipline). like it’d be 90% kicking people around with 10% magic to really fuck up their day.
i won’t spoil too much of thor ragnarok (but jump to the next point now if you want to know absolutely nothing) but a lot of thor in the final battle is huge inspiration. of course, her magic wouldn’t be as powerful because she’s not a god but, like, kicking people and sending magic through the kicks and hits i can very much see her doing. also like hela with all of the damn knives. if knife magic were a thing, she’d so be there.
from the avatar the last airbender franchise, i can see her fighting a lot like kuvira from legend of korra. kuvira was fast and often used small projectiles to displace her enemies or break their stances before moving in herself. imagine an ice puddle at the right spot to make people slip from their stances or jerking someone to the side by an arm /shoving them with a bit of force magic or a projectile so they’re more vulnerable and she can slip a blade into a fleshy / vital bit. like, yes. very much her jam.
she’s very confident about her archery skills. she’s seldom met better archers (and harbours the idea that dalish hunters are second to none) so, i love archery muses and really want her to have a squad of archery bros … but, unless the person is her brother or dalish, she’s more likely to be competitive and to labour under the assumption that they can’t shoot as well as she can. yes, she has sera on her team and that did sort her out a bit … but i think she’s more inclined to believe that’s a rare exception and also elvhen heritage at play.
so basically she’s cocky and competitive jot that down.
a few things i wanted to add, especially bc this list got very focused toward ‘what if elves get magic’ by the very end so here we are:
she doesn’t / can’t shit talk other archers because of distance but there is literally no better feeling than when the arrows of opponents just sail past, often a foot or so wide. this happens so much in game and, if she’s near someone, most likely the mages of the group, she will have a laugh about it with them. cue the “someone should teach them how to shoot.” and other similar comments.
she fights dirty. i know the kick dirt in the face of someone isn’t a skill after dao but, uh, she definitely does that. she’ll also hook her foot around the back of someone’s knee and pull it forward and them down...right into her blade if she’s done it right. any way to get an edge (hehe) against her opponent, she’ll take it.
in that same vein, and i’ve touched on this before, but she thrives on not doing quite what’s expected of a rogue. especially in one-on-one fighting, she’ll use her invisibility flask but then she’ll fall into a crouch and when her opponent turns to swing behind them thinking they have her, she’ll jump up and use that opportunity to go for their exposed back. “nice try, but no.” of course, after the first swing turns up nothing, her opponents usually realise their miscalculation...but too little too late. It doesn’t always play out that way, but she has fun waiting in the spaces she shouldn’t be and trying to throw people off...and kind of shrugs when it doesn’t work. maybe even a “you’re not half as gullible as you look, good for you!”.
finally, when meeting other rogues, the funniest shit is when they go invisible when fighting her. because she does the same thing, “look, i can do it too ! ” and then neither of them can see each other and, as you can imagine, that’s not the best for fighting. invisible battles tho.
