In a kind of reverse au of the Nice Guys: where if it was the wife who survived the fire and Holland was the one who died, do you think she would’ve ended up an alcoholic too and blamed herself because he couldn’t smell the gas like she could?

An even better question is, whould that make a good fanfic? And if so, should I write it?

Right, so let me get this straight [cw/tw mention of child abuse]:

Ryland Grace [Project Hail Mary] and Colt Seavers [the Fall Guy] are identical twins and their older brother is Courtland Gentry -aka Six- [the Grey Man] with an about 7 year age difference. But their surname is originally Gentry for all three of them (later on Ryland gave himself their mother’s maiden name 'Grace' and 'Seavers' is Colt’s stage name). Their mother died giving birth to the twins which made their father -who already was an angressive man- abusive, so mostly Court raised the twins.

Later when the twins were 8 y/o and Court 15 y/o, for some twisted reason their father tried to drown Ryland in the bathtub. In order to save him, Court had to take their father’s gun and shoot him. He was separated from the twins by the police and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. At 22 he was approached by the CIA and they faked his death to recruit him into the Sierra Program, the cover story was that he “died in a prison riot”. The Grey Man movie plot happens and at some point he dates Tangerine [Bullettrain] (not a RyGos).

Meanwhile, after Court’s arrest, the Coltland twins get adopted by their estranged uncle (on their father’s side) Holland March [the Nice Guys] who is in an established relationship with Jackson Healy and has his canonical daughter Holly become sorta like a half-sister to the twins. They might at some point meet their cousin (on their mother’s side) Lars Lindstrom [Lars & the Real Girl] who might be dating Driver [Drive].

Then the plot for the Fall Guy happens. Ryland may or may not have a fling with Tom Ryder (depending on who you ask). After that Colt gets back together with Jody (canon). Then Ryland gets recruited by Stratt and gets launched into space, leaving only an unread voice message behind for Colt. During his coma on the way to Tau Ceti, Ryland dreams up Ken [Barbie]. Then in space he meet his platonic soulmate Rocky and later on the way to Erid, they pick up Simon [Iron Lung] whom Ryland gets into a queerplatonic relationship with.

Is that it? Did I miss anything?

Update/edit: Apparently, Tangerine and Tom Ryder are both played by Aaron Tyler-Johnson so they are twins as well and get to be like honorary members or smth. Also, everyone unanimously agreed that Driver’s real name is Casey.

C.O.I. has once again sent an expedition to the blood ocean of AT-5, following the incident with SM-13. The black boxes have been opened, tearing out the horror of the depths hidden within them, and the faint crumbs of hope for new possibilities.

They need to understand what this entity is and how it survives inside that bloody hell. The new submarine is upgraded, more reliable, and now equipped with new devices.

One thing is missing - a pilot.

But this time, the goal isn't just to find something, it's to understand and study the depths... they need a scientist.

Ryland. And he is also Grace, so named by Father Eden. He miraculously survived the explosion of the Filament station. He had a simple task to extract as much crucial information as possible from their archives, anything that could help Eden survive longer. Something went wrong. And now he's the scapegoat, paying for the sins of his brothers. And now he must atone for that sin before the remnants of humanity by descending in an iron coffin straight into hell

One-sided starstruck (Ryland Grace x Tom Ryder) where Ryder is absolutely head-over-heals down bad for Grace, who isn’t interested in him AT ALL (#aroace Grace), and just won’t stop flirting with him. But one day when visiting Colt on set, Grace starts flirting back just to annoy Colt.

In the Coltland twins au, I think Ryland would have volunteered for the Hail Mary mission because he already had someone to be brave for. Like, can he really say “no” while knowing Colt might be part of the percentage that will starve/freeze to death? I don’t think so.

Also, he would probably use those three hours to call Colt and explain the situation/say goodbye. Depending on how angsty you want it to be then it can either be: an extremely emotional phone call or take place during those 18 months when Colt isolated himself and so Ryland leaves a voicemail that’s basically a suicide note that Colt wont listen to until after the Hail Mary has launched.

Is Ryland Grace a coward?

Well, yes and no. On Earth he certainly acted like one. The thing is that Stratt is right about him acting like acoward (line from the book), he stopped persuing his job as a molecular biologist because he couldn’t handle his thesis being mocked and rejected; he hid himself in middle school classroom where the only judgement he had to face was the one from his 13 year-old students who adored him.

He then declined to be the replacement scientist on the Hail Mary because he “doesn’t think he can do it” even though BILLIONS of lives were at stake. Grace says “no” not because he values his own life above anyone else’s, but because he won’t sacrifice himself on a suicide mission that nobody can be certain will succeed. He is afraid that he won’t be able to accomplish something this important with that amount of pressure. The risk of failing was simply too overwhelming. Which in a way is cowardly of him (even though in his defence he only got 3 hours to decide).

However, when he actually was on the Hail Mary, he did everything that was expected of him because he thought he must’ve been brave enough to volunteer for this. If Grace was inherently a coward, he would have shot himself with Commander Yao’s gun.

And then of course became friends with Rocky and chose to give up his chances of going home to turn around and save Rocky (and all other Eridians); because he found someone to be brave for.

So in conclusion, I guess Grace only acted as a coward at the start because he didn’t believe he could be anything else.

Sometimes I make yumeships or self-insert OCs just to have myself dramatically die in my favourite character’s arms as they cry, tell me to keep my eyes open and as they beg “stay with me, no, come on stay with me please” or something along those lines….

I imagine that in the human timeline (or whatever you want to call it) a couple months after Anthony and Asa started dating, Anthony accidentally calls Asa 'Angel' almost as if by old habit. He had never used it before and he doesn’t know why but for some reason the name just felt right; familiar, as if he’d already called him that a million times before.

I love TMA but I’ve always wished that we would have gotten to know more about Rosie and I haven’t seen any character-centric fics about her - that’s when I realised I can just write it myself. I’m thinking somewhere in season five when Jon and Martin reach London, Jon get the statement of Rosie regarding her job as Elias assistant through the years.

Would anyone aside from me like to read that? I mean, I’m going to write it regardless, but I’m still curious
