Mei figured that this meant that Alfred had gone through a long day and now needed to rest a while. She would think that she should be in his place, and he in hers, but this was fine. Other than that, she didn’t really know what to do with him, so she decided to run her fingers through his hair.

Alfred did have a stressful day, and resting with his head in her lap was one of the most comforting things he knew of. He didn’t mean to fall asleep, but her fingers in his hair relaxed him to the point where his exhaustion took over. He woke up about twenty minutes later, when a loud noise on the tv startled him. Alfred looked up at Mei and flushed with embarrassment. “sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” He began to sit up sheepishly, knowing how unusual it was for him to do that.

But it seemed that, by then, Mei herself had fallen asleep, since the show she was watching had ended, and looking at Alfred made her sleepy as well. Her eyes were closed, her mouth open and her nose snoring, and her chest moving up and down.

Alfred smiled widely when he noticed she was asleep. Mei was so cute, and this made her even cuter. He decided to carefully pick her up and carry her to bed, and managed to do so without tripping or knocking anything over. “I think we were both tired, huh.” He mumbled to himself, smiling as he climbed into bed beside her.

Mei didn’t notice, in her sleep, that her position had changed, and everything from her heart rate to her breathing to her snoring pattern remained unchanged. Soon, though, her mouth closed, and her breaths came out her nostrils instead of snores. Her lips curled into a smile.

Alfred admired her shifting expression and breathing pattern, before taking off his glasses and turning off the light. “goodnight, Mei” He whispered, kissing her cheek before closing his eyes and falling back asleep. Just being around her made him less stressed.

Yet it was 6 in the afternoon, and the sun was only beginning to set by this point. The opaque curtains must have done a good job blocking out what light was left to shine through the window. Three hours later Mei stirred and soon realized she wasn’t on the couch anymore. She opened her eyes and, seeing Alfred there, smiled a little. When she checked the time she was rather surprised. 9… at night? Hmm. … So she decided to nudge Alfred. “Hey. Alfie.”

Alfred pouted and nuzzled into his pillow. “five minutes mom…” he mumbled, and stayed asleep until Mei nudged him again and he looked up at her, squinting up at her. “.. what’s up, hun?” He slowly pulled himself up into a seated position rubbing his eyes. His hair was all over the place more cowlicks than normal sticking up.

She couldn’t help but giggle, what for seeing Alfred’s hair looking so messy at the moment. “It’s kinda late, but I’m awake, so… maybe you and I can go take a walk around town? It never sleeps, that’s the idea I get, so why should we?”

Alfred put his glasses on and ran a hand through his hair, listening with a smile. "that sounds fun. Let's do that. Would you want to go to a bar? most of the normal shops are closing now." He stretched and began to get out of bed and put on some clothes. It was a great idea, the full moon illuminating the streets below their apartment.
