Vacation? Oh come on! I don’t think I am the only person who loves vacation may it be long term or short term break. As a young professional my daily routines are composed of job related stuffs and having an extended weekend because of holidays is something that I look forward to.
Last July 27 – July 30, 2018. I had a four day off and I decided to go to Pattaya Island in Thailand since I haven’t been there before. I heard that Pattaya is one of the nearest beach place near Bangkok and really popular to most people from the City who wants to take a break but doesn’t really want to go too far.
On this trip, I was with of the best travel buddy in Thailand, Rose. Well technically we almost cancelled this trip, good thing we never did.
We planned it out the last minute, I ask Rose to come over my place at 12 midnight. We’ve decided to leave that morning at around 6 am. Everything seems to be on our side on this trip. We discovered that there is a bus station going to Pattaya near our place. The bus left at 7:30 AM and we arrived at Pattaya after 2 hours.
Pattaya Island is not as extravagant as the other beaches or island in Thailand, however if you are looking for a place where you can take a short break, this place has definitely a lot to offer.
Koh Larn Island is one of the main island near Pattaya, we took a 30-45 minutes ferry from Pattaya to Koh Larn. Upon arriving at Koh Larn, we decided to buy some snacks from 7/11 and from nearby stalls so we have something to eat at the beach. There’s a tuktok station near the pier, the drivers will let you choose a beach to visit. We chose Tien Beach as it doesn’t look too crowded. There were some restaurants that offers beach beds for only 50 baht. We really had so much fun in this trip, we lied down, swam and got sun. Tien beach is definitely a beach worth visiting when you’re on a short trip.
Pattaya trip will never be complete without the famous walking street. Walking street is not just your typical street. It is full of different kinds of street foods, seafoods, few clothing stores and different kinds of night clubs. I personally enjoyed walking here for I am a total food lover and this streets offers nothing but the best kind of foods not only from Thailand but from foreign countries as well. A crazy busy street indeed but definitely worth visiting for.
TBH, we are supposed to go home on the 29th, but Rose and I doesn’t want to go back yet, thus we decided to stay for one more day. We went back to Koh Larn but visited another beach which is the Nual beach, no particular reason in choosing the said beach. Nual beach seems more private and only few restaurants are open. Beach beds are a bit expensive comparing in Tien beach, still a nice beach to chill as well.
Pattaya Island offers a short escape from the reality and I will definitely go back on my next long weekend. You will never really know the beauty of a place unless you’ll take sometime to visit, and to live at the moment. No matter how many good feedback you hear, read or see, nothing compares to the experience of being there and seeing it for real…..
