6. casual- STATESIDE: DANIELA AVANZINI SMAU

synopsis: when the new premier overwatch league teams are announced, the newest team to be added; katseye find themselves up against some of the most competitive players in the world- including ones that'll flirt to win.

pairing: daniela avanzini x fem!reader

Twenty minutes. That's how long Y/N had lasted before the girl was on her mind. She was doing so, so well until she saw a flash of the back of Daniela's head from across the bar. Arlo was in the middle of explaining the plot of a tv show that neither Jude or Y/N was interested in watching, and they caught the girl's eyes pulling away from where they were. She looked gorgeous, even with her back to her.

Before Jude caught on, Arlo stood on Y/N's shoe to bring her attention back to where the three of them were. When she snapped her head to him, she then realised what was going on. Caught looking, already. Fuck. "What do you think, Y/N?" Arlo asked, taking a sip of their drink.

"Uh... Yeah. Sounds good. Dunno if I could watch something that long, though..." She murmured, feeling the embarrassment begin to sink in. Arlo smiled a little as she failed to keep eye contact with them. The three of them stood at the end of the bar awkwardly before Jude dismissed himself, muttering something about going out the backdoor for a smoke.

The second he was out of earshot, Arlo's smile grew, "You're kidding me, right?"

"It's not like that." Y/N then insisted. "She's just... interesting." She explained, her eyes finally taring away from her friend and to where the other girl was- but she was gone. For a second, she panicked. She couldn't tell why, but her heart started to race a little at the fact that Daniela wasn't as close anymore.

"Right..." Arlo said with a laugh, "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." He joked, nudging her teasingly. Y/N wasn't laughing. "Come on, lighten up! It's good you're interested in someone who isn't as evil as... well... she who will not be named..." He continued on, trying to comfort her. When she didn't say anything, he tried to look in the same direction she was, and then sighed. There, on the dancefloor- Daniela stood with another pair of hands on her waist. "Ohhhh fuckkkk..." Arlo murmured.

Both players recognised Dani had fallen into the same trap most queer players did in the league. The support player for Gladiators, Erica Emmich, had Dani in her web and she didn't even know it yet. "She's got a game coming up against them..." Y/N murmured.

Erica was known for flirting and sleeping with other women in the league with a chance to make them vulnerable and help her own team win. Dani was of course, no exception to the rule. "Are you gonna... do something... about that?"

Y/N knew if Jude was still stood there she'd be told not to. In his eyes, it was good that the competition was being thrown off already. But guilt had been sitting in the girl's stomach since she'd done her first interview for the season. She took out her phone and checked around her to find the team captain. Nowhere to be seen. She typed.
