YOOO
This should be in a museum somewhere
OK legit I’ve had to have this conversation with my dad and other people about US history. I asked “What is the separation of church and state” and he said “So religion doesn’t interfere with politics” and proceeded to list religions other than Christianity. So I said “If they cannot be allowed to have their religion affect policies on our country, then we cannot allow that for Christianity either.” He got VERY QUIET (A sign he knows I’m right, or is trying to ignore me but doesn’t want to admit it) If we can say that (insert any religion) can never be allowed to make laws like (Insert any possible law that would have a religious bias towards one particular religion based on beliefs held by that religion). Then why are you willing to accept laws created to the bias of Christianity? Like seriously there have been people who have died in this and other countries because of laws like that? There are loads of examples of this being a problem, like people dying from dumb laws, or thrown in jail, deported, and even more issues.
We cannot allow religion to dictate our laws because it will lead to the suffering of the oppressed as it already has. Punishing women for being sexual active, or pregnant before marriage, or not married. Should never be ok because of a line in a book! Punishing non believers of a religion and attacking those of other religions (And protecting the perpetrators) Should never be allowed because of biases towards one religion! Punishing LGBT+ people for existing, Do I need to explain this one? One religion should not dismiss people’s desire to be known as a sin! Fuck that! THIS. NEEDS. TO. STOP!
