Wincing as she saw the man jump back, Lynn shot him an apologetic look before whistling to signal Roxie to calm down. “Sorry about her, man. She does that sometimes,” Lynn commented with a shrug. “She’s got a hell of a growl, but nothing to worry about. She’s well trained.” Pausing for a moment, Lynn’s lips curled into a smirk before glancing back towards the man, “If the fright was too much, though, I can call an ambulance for that heart attack.” 

Cody looked down at the dog, “Can I pet her?” He asked and smiled at Lynn. “It’s alright, I wasn’t paying attention so I got scared.” He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m alright, no need to waste the time of the lovely paramedics .”

As far as days went, this one was particularly bad for Sage. Being an intern was the worst sometimes, especially when the attending of the service she was stuck on was a massive dick who called her in early in the morning on her day off. Sighing into her coffee cup, she inhaled the scent of it, looking to her left. “I swear coffee makes mornings bearable,” she said, striking up small talk with the person next to her on the subway.

“You know, I’m more of a tea person. And I don’t know if that’s because I’m British and it was installed into my DNA or just because I like the taste better.” He glanced over at the girl and gave a warm smile.

“Oh he is absolutely precious.” Cody beamed as he held little Colton. “I’ve held a lot of babies in my time, but each is just as special and exciting.” He spoke, his blue eyes bright. “Wow... Now, the real question it.. Are you the next big footie star, little man?” He asked the baby, referring to soccer. “And I hope to welcome you into the Ravenclaw house one day. But.. I guess whatever your mum happens to be is alright too.” He winked at Isabelle.

The blonde actress approached the crowded bar, stiletto heels clacking on the flooring as she did so . Lacey was dressed head to toe in the most expensive black Prada outfit, a typical ensemble for her, seeing as she was a woman of very expensive taste. “Is this seat taken?” She asked the person seated next to one of the few unoccupied barstools. Drinking was something she didn’t like to make a habit of doing often, especially when she was doing shows, but sometimes she needed a little something to take the edge off.

Cody was hunched over the bar, papers surrounding his little bubble of personal space and a glass of gin in his hand. He didn’t drink it though-- He just swirled it around in it’s glass, his glasses perched on his nose. When the woman tapped his should, he glanced at her and nodded his head. “Oh, no, go ahead, all yours.” He waved for her to sit and scribbled down something as it came to mind.

As she wasn’t much of a football watcher, Lynn had spent the evening of the Superbowl playing in a local game to get some aggression out. She was pouring sweat through her old college soccer jersey as she clipped the leash on Roxie’s collar, turning quickly to head back through the city to her Jeep. The dog turned as well, growling at the person walking near her on the street and Lynn tugged at the leash to get her to chill out. “Don’t worry, she hasn’t bit anyone in awhile,” she joked, scratching at the dog’s ears.

Cody was just walking home from his studio as he walked past the field. Sports never interested him unless it was a good game of footie-- Or ‘soccer’ as Americans said it. He heard a sudden bark and a growl, scaring him. Cody looked around and put his hand to his chest, “Jesus bloody christ, that gave me a scare.” He breathed. “I was stuck in my own thoughts and that just nearly gave me a heart attack.”

“They’re going to give me the epidural soon so at least we won’t know I’m in pain until I’m pushing.” Isabelle was already exhausted, thinking about pushing tired her out more, “Because Eve ate that damn apple or whatever. Babe, your accent.. don’t get upset, I’m going to be okay and sooner than later we’ll get to meet him.”

“Right, right, I knew that.” Cody nodded and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I’m not even the one giving birth.” He gave a small smile, trying to relax. “Is everything set up at home for him? I’m excited to see him.” He told Isabelle. “You are going to be the best mum. I can promise you that. And if you ‘oh, no I won’t be’-- I will shut you down real fast because I know what a bad mum is.” he laughed.

Isabelle squeezed his hand as another contraction hit her. It just kept getting worse and worse and obviously that was labor, but that didn’t mean she liked it. Finally she turned his head to look at him, “Don’t look so worried, this is all natural, right? I’m fine. I mean it hurts, obviously, but I’m okay.. Are you okay? Don’t be sorry.”

Cody kissed her knuckles as she squeezed her hand. He hated it, but he wanted to be there for her. It wasn’t even his son, but he was damn excited for Colton to get here. “I am not okay. I’m not okay because I don’t like seeing you in pain but there’s nothing about it I can do. Like you said-- It’s natural. Why does it have to be bloody hard?” He groaned, his London accent getting thicker.

Cody sat beside Isabelle in the hospital room, his hand in hers. He watched her face with worry etched into his own. He watched his ex-girlfriend give birth to his son, and his mother when she had Arlo, but it was hard every time. Especially with Isabelle since he loved her and didn’t want to see her in pain. “Are you okay? Probably not, I’m sorry. I don’t know what to do.”

“That’s okay. I know none of this was planned, do what you need to with him.” Isabelle winced and took a deep breath as another contraction came and went, “I’m not going to break your hand and I’m not going to scream at you. I refuse to be that girl.”

“Well, I don’t blame you in the slightest if you feel the need to break my hand or scream at me.” He said and drove quickly-- But carefully-- to the hospital. He put the phone on speaker while he texted Arlo to come get Newton.

A huge wave of relief washed over Isabelle when she realized she wasn’t going to be alone for long and that Cody could actually come. “No I remember.. thank you, god thank you I’m so glad you can come.” She slid into the cab and gave the address, “Fuck I hope this doesn’t last long.. it’s only the beginning and it hurts.”

“I wouldn’t miss it.” Cody reassured her. “Newt is gonna be with me, but I’m calling Arlo to come and pick him up.” He told her and buckled Newton into the car seat of his truck before jogging around to the driver side and starting the engine with a roar of the diesel. “I know, babe. I’ll be there really soon and you can break my hand if you need too.”

Isabelle was walking down to her cab as she spoke, “Yeah, he’s coming early I guess. Don’t freak out, I’m not freaked out yet.” She sighed, “Are you sure you can? What about the kids, don’t rearrange for me okay? No I’m walking out to my cab now, I’ll be there soon. I’m okay, nervous, but okay. Yes it hurts and it’s only going to get worse so that’s exciting.”

Cody couldn’t help but laugh about how he was the one freaking out, not her. “I’m coming. I’m your boyfriend, remember? I may not be the father to your child, but.. Still your boyfriend.” He spoke and began to walk faster after he picked up his son.

Cody frowned and stopped walking, the phone held to his ear by his shoulder as Newton held his hand. “Wait, what?” He demanded. “Too late, I’m freaked out. I’m coming. Are you at the hospital? Are you okay? Does it hurt? “

“Okay. Maybe I’m going nuts, but I can’t for the life of me work out if the animal that guy’s walking over there is a really big dog or a small horse.”

“Um.. I don’t think I know either..” Cody raised an eye brow and peered over at the animal while standing next to Riley. They both probably looked either staring, looking confused.

Isabelle chuckled, “Well.. Ash and I raised each other pretty much. We got good at giving advice and motivational speeches for each other.” She shook her head, “No doesn’t bother me at all. I mean no one likes hearing about their significant other’s past relationships, but whether you’re talking about a girl or a guy doesn’t matter to me.”

“That makes sense. I got good at bossing around my younger sister and taking care of little Arlo but whenever I tried to give a speech it always.. Turned out weird.” He laughed. “I won’t tell you about my past, I promise, I just wanted to make sure you didn’t hate that I wasn’t just into girls.” He said. He didn’t want to lose her because of that.

She sat beside him, putting a hand on his back and rubbing the spot there. “Maybe tell him how you feel. Let him know he can always come to you about anything and you won’t judge him. You need to reassure him verbally. That way, he’ll open up. But it might be hard for him. Especially if he’s lost his parents. He’s hurting just like you.”

Cody glanced over at her and gave a small nod. He was immensely comforted by Gwen. “I would’ve hoped he already knew I wouldn’t judge him.. I always made my sexuality open in our house so they would know I accept it, if they accept me for being Pansexual, you know?” He sighed. “But I know, I will tell him again how much I love him and how I only want the best and I want him to be who he is all the time.” Cody pressed his lips together. Arlo was young when his father died and their mother left. But, still, it was just as rough barely knowing them as it was knowing who they were and hating them.

“Then that’s all you can do okay? Leave at that until he comes to you or you feel like you need to talk to him more because you notice a change.” Isabelle laughed a little, ‘I’m straight. I mean everyone does their thing in college, but yeah. Straight. See! It’s going to be fine! Everything is going to be fine, you just have to be there for him and we both know you will so really, there isn’t anything to worry about as long as he’s happy, right?”

Cody nodded and gave a small smile. “You always know what to say. Why?” He asked with a light teasing manor. “But seriously, you’re too good at this.” He said and kissed her forehead. “Alright, straight.. Does it bother you that I’m not?” He asked for a moment, just having the thought occur to him that she may not like to hear about his past relationships and how he was pansexual.

Isabelle nodded, “Then tell him that. Don’t be weird about it, but a simple ‘you know i’m here for you whatever’ will do. Don’t make it a huge deal because it isn’t a huge deal.” She thought for a second, “Pansexual I think it what he prefers. And I never cared and he knew I wouldn’t, but he still didn’t tell me until he was ready. Then don’t upset him, don’t make a big deal of it and everything will be fine.”

“I did, I told him that I am the least judgmental person on the planet and I love him forever and always.” Cody replied to her. He nodded as she told him about her brother. “Oh, gotcha. Wait.. How do you identify?” He asked. He just realized they he didn’t know. “I can’t help but get a little excited though. I want to meet his future boyfriends. But also, I know his best friend already so I guess I know this one.”
