5 years ago I was graduating high school and everyone would ask: what will you be doing in 5 years? 

Can you remember what your answer was? 

I never knew that 5 years from then I would still be on tumblr… but this time coming back from work, sitting on my bed having my dinner and a glass of wine, whilst stressing about my thesis. For someone that had no plan other than just make it to uni, I think I’ve come far. 

graduating uni in 3 months… I wonder what I’ll be doing in 5 years…

This is crazy! Im so happy to have found this. So K from the past, it’s now 2023 you have just logged into your tumblr account after a very long pause (honestly idk if many people use this now? the world is so different now) and guess what? you’re having a glass of wine while writing this with the biggest smile! 

So, what are you doing 6 years later? Well you graduated Uni ofcourse, you came back home procrastinated getting a job for a few months while doing a start-up project with friends, then you  landed our first job and left that after a year and some months, then you moved to a remote island for your dream job! you learned to scuba and free dive, you were in the ocean everyday, it was perfect and everything you ever dreamed of!! Then the world went a little crazy with the Covid-19 pandemic (but not before you went to Mauritius for a scientific conference! what!? I KNOW!! it was so fun). After nearly 4 years on the island, you decided to leave your job for a new adenture! You started learning korean through the pandemic and really wanted to study it in South Korea and travel Asia, so you made the decision to leave and you are currently planning your trip at 28 years old!!! Fingers crossed! It’s one of the biggest risk you’ve taken, leaving your dream job and life, to an extent, to travel and explore. 

What will we be doing in 5 years? See you again in 2027 I guess? (I hope Tumblr exists then)

My PIN number to this day is my second grade best friends birthday. There are people I don’t talk to anymore whose families are still in my prayers. There are shirts I wear to bed from exes of 8 years ago who are married now with kids. And I haven’t found a macaroni salad recipe better than my college boyfriend’s moms’. Our lives are made up of so many people and when people become parts of our lives, some parts remain long after they leave. And in the same exact way, it’s comforting to know there are so many lives you’re still a part of that you have no idea about.
