Interviewer: She [Agatha] has so many different defense mechanisms that she uses. And I think because of that a lot of people don’t really look closer to the heart of her in a lot of situations, but with Rio it’s very different. She knows what Agatha’s thinking and what she’s feeling. And so, for you, how did you want Agatha to respond to those moments where Rio really sees things that nobody else does? Because it both connects her to her and it also scares her cause she’s not used to it.

Kathryn Hann: Yeah, and also I see things in her that she’s trying to conceal. Yeah, there was- we knew that there was a very long complicated history there just filled with love and respect and hate. I think, for Agatha, the reason that they’ve stayed in contact like this has been because she’s been the most formidable sparring partner. ‘Cause everyone else I feel like Agatha would just be able to take down, but like there’s something about Rio’s energy that feels- that just feels as equal. So I think that was kind of like a turn on for her for sure is to be able to have someone to spar with and be shocked by, and be- you know, her moves and her motives would constantly be- It was like always trying to read what was- And I think for sure to have somebody who knows Agatha on that deep of a level is um… terrifying because I think intimacy is terrifying, but also just feels safe. And like, I think because their history is so complicated, it’s like she doesn’t want to… love or care about this person but can’t help it. (source)
