I perpetrated more fic. 6700 words of unhealthy relationship, ill-advised choices, mutual manipulation and mutilation of corpses. Ah, the joys of Hannigram season two style! High Voltage aka Bad Connections 3 aka The Night of Randall Tier. If once was an accident, and twice was a bargain, three times might be something else entirely. Thank you again to @youweresoafraid and @fancybedelia for casting their eyes over to fix my mistakes. And I managed to conjure up a semi-plausible explanation for Will to keep that damn jaw in his freezer. I consider my job done!
New fic from @tiggymalvern always makes my day. 😀

Comment on fanfics
A few days back on AO3 I found an unfinished, two chapter spideypool fanfic that was cute and had lots of potential and was also last updated two years ago. Two whole years! And it had only three comments, all of which on chapter one, none on chapter two. I enjoyed the fanfic, despite it being far, FAR from being finished and the chance of it ever updating again anytime soon was just about zero. So you know what I did?
I wrote a damn comment. On chapter two.
And I made sure that fucker was long and had a small theory of where I think the author would take the fanfic in the future. I let the person behind the fic know that I friggin LOVED the two chapters I got to read! That I would LOVE to see more! That I’d jump out of my skin in happiness and virtually hug them half to death if I saw that they updated it.
Let me remind you this fic wasn’t updated in two YEARS! I was the first to comment on it in a year. And the first to comment on chapter two! And you know what happened today?
I got a reply.
From the author of the fanfic. And the author said how I gave them life for a project they had loved (still did) and that they were now working on a third chapter. After two YEARS of not updating. Of not writing. And it makes me so friggin happy seeing what I did. What I caused.
With a single. Damn. Comment.
All that it took for me was to think a bit about what I wanted to tell the author and the comment it. All it took was one comment. And suddenly this person was inspired to continue a fanfic they had abandoned for TWO YEARS!!
I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t be more proud.
Comment on people’s fanfics. No matter how few chapters there are. No matter how many years have passed since their last update. Comment. You like a fanfic? Comment on it. It’s that easy.

December 7th is Shiizakana day by the Hannibal Advent Calendar, so have fic! This is the sequel to Bad Connections, the car sex porn prompt, and set during the episode of the day 😊 Once again, it’s explicit, and a thinly veiled excuse for smut with conflicted feelings. 6300 words. “If my intention was only to end your sexual liaisons with Alana, I could fuck you right now, leave marks and bruises on your skin that wouldn’t fade for a week,” he states with lazy confidence. “I’m sure that would be an effective deterrent the next time she joined you for dinner.” For @fragile-teacup, @crisisoninfinitefandoms, and everyone else who asked for a sequel whose tumblr names I don’t know. @pragnificent - it’s a season two fic, there are condoms 😊
Thanks to @youweresoafraid and @goldenusagi for beta duties.
If you aren’t reading @Tiggymalvern’s work, then this is a great time to get on board. They’re great stories with pitch-perfect characterisation and dialogue. And smut ... did I mention the smut? 😉
Fannibal Challenge

I want to reblog and share these with everyone, so for anyone who sends me something and wants it to stay anon, let me know. I will do a post later. I apologize in advance for spamming everyone, but I really want to get this out there. (And we all know how challenging that is). I would really appreciate a signal boost. Many, many thanks to everyone!
Death is in my sight today -- chapter 2
A little while ago, I wrote a one-off AU story in which Will Graham was an Egyptologist and Hannibal was a cannibalistic mummy. It was kind of weird, and not my usual sort of thing, just a bit of throwaway fun. But then I realised that I wasn’t done with it, so I drafted a second chapter. Then a third, and a fourth, and ... you get the picture. So here’s chapter 2. The following instalments will be going up every week or so.
Read it on AO3, but remember to check the warnings!
Fandom: Hannibal (TV) Title: Death is in my sight today Rating: Teen And Up Summary: Egyptologist Will Graham has just made the discovery of a lifetime: a previously unknown pyramid, complete with the mummy of its owner. But what sort of king chooses to have the Cannibal Hymn carved on the walls of his tomb?
Dolce + kiss
True or false:
If Hannibal had kissed Will in front of the Primavera, Will would have dropped his forgiveness on the spot.
Ooh, that's a good one.
Part of me wants to say that Will would have dropped his forgiveness on the spot, and the two of them would have gone to find a room. Another part of me wants to say that Will would have stuck it into Hannibal right there and then ('it' being the knife), because Will was overwhelmed and couldn't really face what it was he really wanted. I could see him doing something dramatic to sabotage things for the both of them (c.f. 3.13). Both scenarios are plausible.
One thing is definite: to turns things into a lasting, committed relationship would have taken a lot of changes and a lot of work. But that is, by and large, true of any relationship.
Radiance Book Club Pre-launch News!
Yeah I know not everyone has the hard copy yet (come on DHL!!! They’re coming next Tuesday! They better be.)
BUT!!!!
Once the electronic version is out you’ll find multiple things happening here on the book club site!
Here’s a taster….
*tumblr bookclub with weekly kick off queries
*Interviews with artists and authors!
*Fandom feedback! I’ve seen some lovely stuff on Twitter!
*Links to new work inspired by the anthology (inameitlater and Electrarhodes are organising a collection over on AO3 - ‘Fuel_for_Radiance’).
*Advice on how to run a book club on slack or similar, on skype, on twitter, and face to face!
*Book club questions for specific pieces of art and fic.
*A year’s worth of activities and prompts to get you thinking about the anthology, the fandom, meta, the series, cons, and other gorgeous stuff.
*Other exciting (?) and possibly relevant (hmm) re-blogs and posting…
We might have a little bit of time before season four, but really, it will just fly!
( @wraithsonwingsposts and @radiance-anthology ) it’d be lovely if you spread the word!
Just chuckin @radiancebookclub on your post and I’ll find it! And re-blog…
In case anyone is wondering or worrying this is all done with permission from the anthology organisers.. participation is entirely voluntary on the part of artists and writers… 👋🏽 oh and general principle for posts? Play nice.. we eat the rude etc etc. You don’t like some fic or art? No problem (though the whole thing about pay attention to tags, you don’t like it, don’t read it etc applies here.) You want to bitch about the artist or writer personally? Not so much.
I’m so excited for this, @radiancebookclub and thank you for tagging me in this @electrarhodes !
Interviews with writers you say….. 😉
Everyone should check this out!
Another Saint Hannibal (…)-holding a heart bc it fits the Halloween theme, and it kinda ties in with my Radiance piece <;

Yes, I’ve got my ticket already. 😃 Join me, @electrarhodes!
Flagging this to any UK-based Fannibals who might be interested in attending …
One of the events at this year’s London Month of the Dead is a lecture called “Maggots and Murder”. It’s about forensic entomology, a topic after Will Graham’s heart. The lecturer has 25 years of experience in the field, and will be giving an overview of the whole process, from field work and lab work through to the courtroom.
For those who aren’t familiar with the London Month of the Dead, it’s a whole series of events, spread across October, exploring the subject of death and dying. There’s a diverse programme, ranging from music and storytelling to taxidermy workshops, as well as the lecture “salons”. If any of that sounds like your sort of thing, I’d recommend checking it out.
The Month of the Dead events are selling out fast! Reblogging for any London-based Fannibals -- RTYI @electrarhodes?
Recently, @electrarhodes mentioned knowing hieratic, and that was enough to get me writing. This is the result: short, unbetaed and just plain weird, but once I started I couldn’t stop. So here it is, the Egyptologist! Will, mummy!Hannibal AU that precisely nobody has been clamoring for.
Read it on AO3, but remember to check the warnings!

In 1.01, when Jack Crawford first met Hannibal, he mentioned an academic paper that Hannibal had had published in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. The paper was apparently titled 'Evolutionary Origins of Social Exclusion', or something similar. Jack saw that article because Alana showed it to him, presumably while recommending Hannibal as a good candidate for becoming Will's psychiatrist. But why did Alana show Jack that particular paper? Maybe that paper was the only one that Hannibal had had published. This seems unlikely, though. In 3.08, Alana and Chilton refer to other articles that Hannibal had had published in The American Journal of Psychiatry. It’s possible that the journal only published his work after his incarceration, cashing in on his notoriety. But it seems more plausible that he had a reasonable publishing track-record. The fact that Alana and others respect his talents would tend to back that up. (In 3.08, in spite of her personal issues with Hannibal, Alana still concedes that his work is ‘brilliant’.) Maybe that particular paper was simply a representative sample of Hannibal's academic output, something that would impress an interested layman like Jack. But it's also possible that Alana believed that the article demonstrated Hannibal's aptitude for the specific job in question, namely acting as Will's unofficial psychiatrist. If that was the case, what exactly was in that paper? (Even if it wasn't the case, I'd still like to know what Hannibal chose to write about.) The title of the article mentions social exclusion, a phenomenon in which one social group is systematically excluded from their full rights, or participation, in society. Social exclusion is a broad field -- more accurately, it's an area of study in many fields, including psychology. A social group can be excluded on the basis of things such as social class, ethnic origin, sexual orientation or even simply age. Did Hannibal focus on one particular social group who had suffered exclusion? If this were relevant to Will, it would presumably be connected to either his so-called empathy disorder, or to his (possibly) being placed somewhere on the autism spectrum. It's possible that Hannibal's article dealt with the social exclusion of neurodivergent individuals by the neurotypical majority. Perhaps Hannibal had a particular interest in neurodivergent individuals. (It’s possible that he counts himself among them.) Perhaps he had worked with them before. After all, Alana considered Will a friend. She recommended Hannibal not just because she thought he was good at his job in a general way, but because she specifically thought that he could help Will. The title of Hannibal’s paper also refers to the evolutionary origins of social exclusion, which is another intriguing hint. Evolutionary psychology is a theoretical approach to psychology. It is based on the theory that certain human psychological traits are evolved adaptations, that is, that they have developed over time in response to evolutionary pressures. Evolutionary psychology is somewhat controversial. Critics have pointed out several flaws in the approach, perhaps the most crucial of which is that it is untestable. Why would Hannibal choose to delve into the evolutionary origins of social exclusion, rather than exploring its manifestation in modern-day society? Perhaps he chose to do so because the subject was contentious -- we all know how theatrical he can be -- and he enjoyed the thought of controversy. But evolutionary psychology is a long way from being considered fringe. And Hannibal’s paper was published in a respected, peer-reviewed journal, so it cannot have been considered too unconventional. It’s unlikely that Hannibal would have written about something that did not interest him, so presumably he had an interest in evolutionary psychology. I can’t help wondering where his interest in the subject stemmed from -- which leads into the more general question of why he chose to work in psychiatry.
Cannibalism is a cultural nightmare. The cannibal is a monster, an extra-social individual, who belongs in a similar category to the vampire and the werewolf: a monstrous figure of supernatural, inhuman terror.

Latin and Ancient Greek. And my hieratic is ok… for those ancient Egypt AUs. Ok now I’m tempted to write a stargate crossover with hieroglyphs..
Lol @electrarhodes A Hannibal/Stargate crossover would be something else.
Slightly redundant after @electrarhodes‘ offer, but my ancient Egyptian is ok. I’m probably better at Old and Middle Egyptian, though, rather than Late Egyptian.
Hmmm, now I’m wondering if there’s a way to mash up Egyptian mythology and Hannibal. After all, there is the Egyptian text known as “the cannibal hymn”.
