Luckily the race, today’s Shamrock Run, was at noon, allowing me to sleep in a little, and the temps were at 32 F, balmy relative to recent days. It all got me to go out and give it a try with congestion and some weariness from the cold/flu that I’d been battling earlier this week, feeling ‘chipper’ relative to how I was feeling a couple days ago. Was able to do the 8k in 29:14, 24th overall, 1st master - not my best time but happy under the circumstances. Pretty spent at the finish. The legs felt weak from the illness most of the way, never got my footing, it even felt like I was running in altitude with my breathing so labored from the congestion. Seeing several friends there made it all fun. Feeling dry and warm now back at home, and looking forward to some rest.
