it's 3 am and i'm thinking about the way rick demonized femininity throughout pjo and hoo and boy am i angry
i feel like this is a dumb thing to bitch about but i really want more young adult novels with brown heroines that have overtly brown names. like, give me a heroine named like, anjana or something. i never see girls in ya novels with names like mine and i just want some representation, i guess
“Jess was biologically a girl, but he’d started dressing like a dude last year, and told everyone he was now a ‘he.’ After high school was over, he planned to get a job and save up for gender-reassignment surgery. For now, he was taking some kind of testosterone supplement every few days; a couple of thick black hairs had begun to grow on his chin. Whatever, Andy figured. To each his/her own.”
why would you explain it like this? who thought this was a good idea? why on earth-
“It was the girls who eyed Eliza with suspicion when she sat down at the table, as if she were an emissary from a tribe of Amazon women sweeping in to steal the menfolk away.”
of course it was. because you can’t have a young adult novel without some good old girl-on-girl hate. women? liking each other? not in my novels!
“This may come as a shock to you, but some of us actually care about stuff. I’m sure you think that’s lame or gay or whatever-”
ha ha shut the fuck up
“Was there anything in the whole entire world worse than waking up next to someone you didn’t want to wake up next to?”
i mean probably?
"'I think black-and-white photos are more honest. Color has no...integrity.'"
Next page:
"And sure, seen from a purely objective standpoint, he was a handsome guy, but she'd always preferred the artsy delinquent types- the ones who'd already ponied up for their first tattoos and would be walking by walls of graffiti by the time they were twenty-one."
is it bad if i'm judging this girl really hard right now
on page 23 of the hobbit thorin says that dragons generally know the current market value of gold and jewels and i would like to know how, sir
adam silvera's new book is coming out next year??? i'm HYPE
call me salty but i’m really glad that sjm didn’t get any goodreads choice awards this year?? and really annoyed that rwarb got best debut???
omfg senpai noticed me??? i’m shooketh???
Sometimes I just think about RR and his inability to have single characters. Like, not everyone needs to be in a relationship all the goddamn time. It's okay to not pair off literally everyone.
I'm rereading Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and at this point in my life, it's more relatable than scary.
Summary: A big-hearted romantic comedy in which First Son Alex falls in love with Prince Henry of Wales after an incident of international proportions forces them to pretend to be best friends̷…
I wanted to like this book, I really did. But I couldn’t, for many reasons. Most of them unpopular.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Alright, I got a bunch of ya novels recently, so expect some sporkings soon. Hopefully.
@andromedaholic this is the greatest compliment anyone’s ever given me lmao
