SEASON 2 TEASER

The whole world was disgusted when they found out about how Jay was taken away and didn't really die. It took Jay awhile to remember his sister completely and everyone.

"Mama, when is papa coming back?" Jina asked her mom who's tucking them in their bed.

"Yeah mama, I want to see him soon," Jini added.

Y/n had twins, both of them a baby girl.

"Soon baby, now sleep, maybe tomorrow he's here," Y/n replied, pecking their foreheads before leaving the room.

As she left the room, she bumped into Sunghoon. "Hey you good? The kids asking for him again?" he asked her.

"Yeah, but it's fine. Any updates?" Y/n replied.

"No, sorry," Sunghoon responded.

"It's fine, I'll guess I'll go to sleep, goodnight," Y/n said.

Y/n entered their used to be shared bedroom. She locked the door, before leaning her back on it and sliding as tears fell down her eyes, covering her mouth so no one would hear her cries.

"Jake," Y/n whispered.

CHAPTER 10 - 12

CHAPTER 13

1

“Hello, is anyone there?” Y/n called out, approaching the dark alley, not caring about the danger around there. “Is anyone there?” Y/n called out a bit louder. “If someone is here stop messing around, this is a police matter, come out now or else there will be repercussions,” Y/n said.

“And what are the repercussions,” someone asked from behind her, there was a figure watching her, them, as they investigated the scene. Y/n couldn’t see well because of how dark the alley is not until she turned on her flashlight, her eyes widening, seeing who has been watching them this entire time. Before she could utter a word someone covered her mouth, until darkness took over her surroundings. 

“Damn, I’ve been waiting for this moment,” the unknown man said, caressing her face. 

“Sir Jay, what do you want to do now?” his assistant asked. 

“Take her to the car,” Jay responded, admiring Y/n’s passed out state.

His assistant went over to carry Y/n and as he was about to carry her Jay groaned in pain.

“Sir, are you okay?” his assistant asked.

Jay didn’t respond as he grasped his aching head, blur visions appearing in his mind. 

“Fuck, leave her, let’s go home,” Jay groaned in pain, struggling to stand up. 

Jay followed behind his assistant clutching his head, thinking no one was gonna see him. Heeseung looked in his direction, seeing him flee the scene. 

“Damn this fucking head!” Jay groaned loudly. 

“Maybe you need more rest sir, could be jet lag,” his assistant told him. 

“I don’t need a fucking rest, what I need is that girl!” Jay yelled. 

“We could’ve taken her, but you told me to leave her,” his assistant reasoned.

Who the fuck are you Park Y/n? Jay asked himself, closing his eyes.

The next day

“If they’re gonna kidnap her why didn’t they take her?” Riki asked Heeseung, confused.

“I don’t know, but I hope she’s fine now.” Heeseung replied.

“I’ve seen Y/n once, in Jay’s party, the first time he threw a big one, he scolded his sister for coming out of her room, cause guys tried hitting on her not knowing she’s a minor, I can’t imagine what Jay would think if he finds out Jake hit on his little sister,” Riki replied back to him.

“I don’t see the relevance in our conversation nor our investigation but now I’m curious what she was like,” Heeseung rebutted. 

“Like I said I only met her once, but she was definitely bubbly, she wasn’t like this, she smiled a lot during the time I met her, Jay introduced her to me, she was smiley.” Riki asserted, shrugging his shoulders.

“Did you see her during the burial or the funeral of Jay, I didn’t know how she looked back then,” Heeseung replied to Riki.

“I did, now that you reminded me of that, she didn’t speak to anyone, didn’t utter a word, she was just staring blankly at the closed casket in front of her, Jake tried talking to her but she was just staring blankly at the surroundings, I won’t even describe her state as broken she looked so lost that time,” Riki told Heeseung.

“She did lose her only family, or she might’ve thought,” Heeseung replied before showing Riki the screen of his computer. “We found Jay Lazio,” he added, Riki widening his eyes.

“We should tell Y/n then,” Riki replied a bit loud.

“No, and this stays between us, don’t tell anyone, don’t trust anyone with this information,” Heeseung ordered Riki. 

“What about the others?” Riki asked.

“You can inform Jungwon, Sunoo, Jake and Sunghoon once he’s back, but never ever inform the general about this,” Heeseung said sharply.

Jake laid Y/n in their shared bed, tucking her in. 

“Are you going to work?” Y/n asked quietly, fiddling with her fingers. 

“Do you want me to?” Jake replied.

“No, don’t leave, stay with me,” Y/n replied quietly, tapping the bed beside her.

Jake laid down beside her, wrapping his arms around her.

“Jay is alive all this time,” Y/n whispered.

“ He is, that motherfucker didn’t even inform us he has nine lives.” Jake replied back, earning a playful smack from Y/n. “I was just kidding,” he mumbled, pulling Y/n closer to him.

“Jake, promised me you’ll never leave me whatever happens,” Y/n said.

“I promise, not just to you but to God, I promise him to never leave your side,” Jake replied back, leaving a kiss on her forehead.

“If Jay ever witnesses this, you’ll be having your funeral the next day.” Y/n joked, making Jake laugh.

“He’s gonna resent me, for the rest of his life.” Jake added, stroking Y/n’s hair.

“I love you,” Y/n mumbled, drowsiness taking over her.

“I love you too, my angel,” Jake replied, watching as she slowly closed her eyes.

“Hmm” Jungwon sighs for the 20th time in the past 30 minutes, since his night shift started. 

“Jungwon this is the 20th time you’ve sighed, now what the fuck is wrong?” Riki asked, seriously annoyed.

“Nothing, it’s just that it’s been a year since I joined this department and we’re still working with this serial killer case, wasn’t it just for a year,” Jungwon replied, completely tired from working over and over again with the same files.

“It’s because our general transferred the other case to another department, that’s why they gave us another year to catch this serial killer,” Riki explained. “Y/n is weird these days,” Riki added.

“What do you mean?” Jungwon asked, looking at Y/n’s empty seat.

“Nothing, it’s just that she always looks very pale, she barely has energy like, she’s always in the bathroom,” Riki said, shutting off his computer.

“She does look sick these past few days, and I haven’t seen her husband in awhile,” Jungwon replied back.

After the incident of Y/n almost getting kidnapped by who they believe is Jay, her dead brother, Jake decided to take a month off from work to take care of Y/n. And after 7 months of dating, he decided to marry Y/n. 

On the other hand, Heeseung decided to hand the other case to another department to focus on the serial killer case, earning them another year to solve it. 

“Well I was out on a business trip Jungwon, that’s why you haven’t been seeing me,” Jake said, making an entrance to their department. 

“Welcome back,” Jungwon greeted, smiling.

“Thanks, where’s my wife?” Jake replied, looking around, trying to look for Y/n.

“Oh she called in sick this morning, and I think you have to bring her to the hospital. She looked very sick these past few days,” Riki replied.

“She didn’t tell me that, I would go home but I have work,” Jake replied quietly, rubbing his forehead. 

“Go get to your wife, we’ll be fine, we’ll call you once we have something.” Heeseung said from behind him. 

“Thanks, I’ll go see my wife,” Jake replied, before taking his leave.

“My love,” Jake called out, as soon as he got inside their home.

Looking around, he didn’t see his wife’s presence, which was weird. 

“Love,” Jake called out again.

“I’m in the kitchen!” Y/n finally yelled back, making Jake sigh in relief.

Jake walked towards the kitchen, where he found his wife cooking dinner and he loved this sight. He went over to his wife and gave her a back hug, nuzzling his nose on her neck.

“I missed you so much,” Jake mumbled. 

“I missed you too Jakey, come on get the table ready, let’s eat.” Y/n replied back.

“Mmm how about I eat you instead,” Jake whispered, teasingly.

“Love, I don’t feel really well,” Y/n whispered, turning around at her husband before giving him a peck on his lips.

“Should we go to the hospital?” Jake asked his wife worriedly.

“Maybe tomorrow if I still don’t feel well,” Y/n replied sheepishly at her husband, wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her face in his chest. “I think I need to cuddle more than this meal,” she mumbled, making Jake chuckle.

“Yeah I think it’s late for dinner anyways, come on I’ll cuddle my sick angel,” Jake replied, carrying Y/n bridal style as he walked towards their bedroom.

“Next time, I’ll be carrying 2 angels,” Jake mumbled as he closed the door to their bedroom door.

CHAPTER 14

1

The next day Y/n woke up early, feeling nauseous again. 

“Is this what being pregnant feels like,” Y/n mumbled, coming out of the bathroom, smiling as she saw Jake sleeping peacefully. Just then her phone rang.

“Hey Jungwon, I don’t think I can -” Y/n said but before she could finish her sentence Jungwon cut her.

“Come here at the station now,” Jungwon said, quietly, making Y/n scrunch her forehead in confusion.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“Just come here, now, don’t bring Jake, make sure he doesn’t follow you,” Jungwon replied, before hanging up.

Y/n looked at her phone seeing messages from Sunghoon telling her the same thing. She changed into her uniform quickly before driving to the station, not forgetting to leave Jake a note saying, “I went to the grocery store, wait for me before you leave or I’ll get mad”. A lie she wrote his husband.

As Y/n arrived at their department there were a lot of officers.

“What’s going on?” Y/n asked, confused on why there are a lot of officers from another department, including the head.

“Mrs. Sim, we have a warrant for your husband, do you know where he is?” The head of the station stated.

“Warrant? For what?” Y/n asked nervously. This can’t be happening, she thought to herself.

“Mrs. Sim, the serial killer you’ve been looking for is your husband, he murdered multiple victims in the past years, so if you don’t want to get detained, tell us your husband’s location,” Eunyeok replied, with the biggest smirk on his face.

“You can detain me, I won’t tell you where he is,” Y/n replied, looking at Sunghoon before nodding at her, understanding the situation.

“The fuck Y/n! Just tell us where he is!” Sunghoon yelled, acting betrayed. 

“You can kill me, I won’t tell you a thing,” Y/n replied.

“Jungwon listen to me, you’re gonna watch Y/n make sure they don’t hurt her,” Sunghoon ordered Jungwon.

“Where are you going? And what the fuck is she doing?” Jungwon asked Sunghoon quietly.

“She’s buying me time, to get Jake out of that damn house and for everything they have to do, just watch Y/n, I'll sneak her out in 5 hours, if I'm not here in 5 hours, sneak her out I’ll send you a location.” Sunghoon replied, before driving away, leaving Jungwon who ran back inside their department immediately. 

Entering their department Jungwon grabbed his car keys with him before putting it safely in his pocket.

“Heeseung I need your help,” Jungwon said quietly as he entered his office.

Heeseung went to reach into his drawer, handing him 2 guns. 

“This is Y/n’s and take this you’ll need it, be careful don’t get caught, I’ll cover for you don’t wait for another 5 hours,” Heeseung explained.

“You heard?” Jungwon asked.

“No, I know. Jay Lazio they have him, protect her from him, he doesn’t remember her and that department was paid by Lazio’s already, call Sunghoon tell him you’re sneaking her out now, don’t wait for 5 hours snuck her out now, you wait for 5 hours Lazio’s will take her,” Heeseung replied.

“Fuck,” Jungwon mumbled as he went out of his office immediately.

Jungwon ran to his car, dialing Sunghoon’s phone. 

“Answer Sunghoon,” Jungwon mumbled as he drove off.

“Jungwon I-” Sunghoon answered but Jungwon cut him off.

“Tell me the meeting location, Heeseung told me this is Lazio’s plan, they're gonna take Y/n,” Jungwon said in one breath.

“Fuck, I’ll text you the meeting location.” Sunghoon replied.

As Jungwon arrived at the other department he showed his id.

“I’m here to question Y/n on Jake’s whereabouts,” Jungwon said.

“You must be the officer Heeseung dispatched here,” the officer in front of him said.

“Yes, I’m officer Yang,” Jungwon replied.

“Come in, turn left you’ll find where she is,” the officer instructed him.

“Thank you,” Jungwon replied.

Jungwon walked fast to where he was instructed to go. Jungwon saw Y/n walking back and forth. Entering the room where Y/n is, Jungwon shushed Y/n before she could respond.

“We’re gonna go,” Jungwon said.

“Jungwon, I saw him, I saw my brother, he’s here, Jay is here,” Y/n said frantically.

“Y/n listen to me we have 10 minutes, and I have to sneak you out of here so listen to me carefully,” Jungwon replied.

“But my brother,” Y/n said, tears prickling in her eyes.

“That’s not your brother, he doesn’t remember you, Heeseung is covering for us so listen to me we have to go or they will take you and if they take you Jake will kill me, so come on let’s go,” Jungwon told Y/n quietly, handing her his hands that she gladly took.

Jungwon peaked outside the door to make sure no one saw them. Pulling Y/n out of the room they ran towards the back exit.

“The girl is escaping!” Someone yelled as soon as they got out.

“Y/n run!” Jungwon yelled as they ran together to his car. As soon as they arrived in front of his car another car in front of them, ready to shoot the driver, they sighed in relief.

“Get in!” Sunghoon yelled at them.

As soon as they got in, Sunghoon drove as fast as he could.

“Where is Jake?” Y/n asked.

“He’s safe, Jungwon you’re going with Y/n they saw you and it’s not safe if you go back.” Sunghoon replied.

“And you?” Jungwon asked.

“I’ll buy you time to escape. They can take me, but not Jake, I can’t let his baby grow up without a father, ” Sunghoon replied.

“Say what now!?” Jungwon asked.

“I’m pregnant,” Y/n replied.

“Sunghoon please come with us, let’s all escape together, we need you,” Jungwon said.

“If I don’t come back, it’ll be harder for us to escape, you need eyes there, and I’ll be your eyes, so Jungwon protect Y/n until you get him to Jake,” Sunghoon said, stopping in an empty road. “Take that car I put the location in already,” he added.

“Sunghoon,” Y/n whispered, tears coming out of her eyes.

“Everything will be fine,” Sunghoon replied, smiling at Y/n as tears pooled in his eyes.

Y/n hugged Sunghoon crying in his arms.

“Thank you for being my brother for a year, please don’t die, you have to come to us, my baby needs an uncle like you,” Y/n sobbed.

The car ride was quiet and it’s almost night already when they arrived, as Y/n saw Jake she jumped on him and hugged him like a koala. 

“Come on, we don't have time,” Jungwon said as he opened the door of the driver’s seat.

“Jungwon you’re not driving,” Y/n said.

“Then who is?” Jungwon asked.

“I’ll drive you two, go get some sleep, I’ll wake you up when I need to sleep.” Jake said, chuckling.

CHAPTER 15

1

“It wasn’t a set up, Heeseung!” Eunyeok yelled at Heeseung as detaining Y/n was a failure.

“Then what was it? Jay Lazio is your witness! Lazio’s son! How was it not a fucking set up!?” Heeseung yelled back at her brother, as they continued to argue in Eunyeok’s office.

“What the fuck do you know?” Eunyeok asked. “After stealing the real necklace to cover up that it was him who murdered that girl a year ago, now this! You let the wife of that serial killer run away because you think you know everything!” he added.

“I knew it was him, but Y/n was already in a lot of stress that day, I don’t want to add more things to her table, especially when she saw Jay that same night we found a girl shivering in terror that Lazio’s son would’ve killed him. You don’t fucking get it, Y/n suffered enough and I won’t let that happen again, specially when she’s fucking pregnant!” Heeseung yelled.

“I don’t care if she’s pregnant or what, but I want you to be responsible for your actions, we could’ve closed the case if you just didn’t let her leave and now that another officer is in trouble because of what you’ve done,” his brother argued back.

“And what proof do you have that Jake did it?” Heeseung asked.

“Jake isn’t as smart as you think he is, the last person he killed was in an alleyway with a CCTV camera and Jay Lazio was there that same night and he showed us a video of him killing that person,” Eunyeok replied. “It wasn’t a set up, now take full responsibility for it,” he added.

“And when are you going to take responsibility for Officer Park’s disappearance? You think people will be on your side if you catch the serial killer with officer park himself testifying in court?” Heeseung asked.

“Stop changing the topic,” Eunyeok argued, grabbing Heeseung by his collar.

“I will own up to my responsibility and I’ll make sure you own up to yours,” Heeseung replied, pushing his brother away as he left his office slamming the door shut.

Everyone glanced at Sunghoon as he entered the main office where 2 of the crime departments were called. 

“Why are they all looking at you?” Riki asked, as Sunghoon took his seat beside him.

“Because I was gone around the time Y/n escaped, they think I have something to do with it,” Sunghoon responded. 

“Where were you?” Riki asked. 

Sunghoon remained silent, watching as Mr. Kim stood in front of everyone.

“I didn’t know your father was giving us a lecture,” Sunghoon mumbled, diverting the topic to Sunoo.

“Shut up, he thought I had something to do with Y/n’s escape plan,” Sunoo responded, glaring at his own father.

“So as you all know the serial killer’s identity has been revealed to everyone here, well not just here but the public,” Sunoo’s father said, looking at everyone before continuing. “ The serial killer is none other than, Sim Jaeyun also known as Jake or in the public’s eye Mr. Detective, he was an officer for one year until he started taking his masters,” he added. “As his identity was revealed, he also disappeared together with his wife, Sim Y/n, at the time of their disappearance Yang Jungwon, another officer was seen with Y/n running away, escaping, with the help of chief Lee.” He continued. “I am suspending Lee Heeseung from his position as the chief and assigning my son Kim Sunoo as the new chief of their crime department, and Lee Heeseung will be charged as Sim Jaeyun’s acquaintance, any questions?” He explained.

Everyone looked at Sunoo who was shaking his head in disapproval of his father’s decision. 

“How was it getting paid by Lazios?” Sunghoon asked, loud enough for everyone to hear in the meeting room.

“Excuse me?” Sunoo’s father asked, as everyone looked at him shocked.

Sunghoon smirked, standing up. 

“Another body was just found while you were giving your meaningless speech up there, like you’re the next president, when you’re just another dog barking for Lazio,” Sunghoon replied, smirking at them.

Murmuring soon erupted in the quiet meeting room as the news of another body being found in a quiet alley.  

“That can’t be, Jake is gone,” Sunoo whispered.

“He could have had a partner,” Heeseung replied, as the quiet meeting room soon erupted with radio calls, asking for back ups.

“It doesn’t make any sense! Jake is gone, he’s somewhere not even god would know,” Eunyeok yelled at Heeseung, while he drank his favorite whiskey.

“Or they could’ve edited that damn CCTV footage,” Heeseung replied to his older brother smuggly, who’s sending daggers at him through his glares. 

“And why would you say that?” Eunyeok asked, glaring at him.

“I don’t know, you tell me, Jay suddenly appeared in front of everyone years after his death. Isn't it ironic how Y/n has always been right in all her theories?” Heeseung answered his brother angrily. 

“I should’ve gotten rid of her a long time ago,” Eunyeok replied. “Now that bitch had gone somewhere with Yang and Sim,” he added, taking another sip of his whiskey before banging his hand on the table.

“So you’re admitting it?” Heeseung asked, standing up, approaching his brother. 

“I ain’t admitting anything, besides Jay never died, so I don’t have anything to admit,” Eunyeok replied to Heeseung.

“You fucker, you ruined Y/n’s life, now her life is in danger and worst from her own brother’s hands,” Heeseung said angrily throwing away the glass of whiskey that was in front of her brother.

Eunyeok grabbed Heeseung’s collar before saying, “you fucking ungrateful fucker, you should be thanking me for getting rid of that fucker, if I didn’t he would’ve taken away your position and because of your stupidity you lost your position to that Kim,”

Heeseung pushed Eunyeok away from him, “you’re the ungrateful one here asshole, you should be thanking me for not telling anyone how dirty your work is,” he argued before turning around ignoring all his brother’s yellings for him to come back.

Jake, Y/n and Jungwon arrived at 4am at their location, where a helicopter was waiting for them. It was windy and cold, Y/n held onto Jake, needing more warmth from him. 

“Jake,” someone called out. Turning around, Y/n and Jungwon saw an unknown face in front of them. 

“Sorry it took us long to arrive here,” Jake said, greeting the guy in front of them. “This is Y/n and Jungwon, please take care of them,” he added, making sure to say the last words as low as possible. 

“Oh hi, I’m Jinyoung,” the guy in front of them replied, earning a smile from Y/n and Jungwon.

“You two should get in, I have to make a quick call,” Jake said, earning a nod from Jungwon, who’s now struggling to get inside the helicopter. 

“I didn’t you’re this short,” Y/n teased, as she saw how Jungwon struggled. 

“Shut up,” Jungwon replied, laughing, handing out his hand to Y/n to help her get in. 

Y/n didn’t budge, she stood there, looking at Jungwon’s hand.

“Y/n, love, come on, it’s cold,” Jake said, trying to carry Y/n, who stopped him.

“You’re leaving us are you,” Y/n said, holding Jake’s jacket tightly, looking up at him, her eyes watering.

“No, I just need to call Sunghoon quickly,” Jake replied nervously.

“I heard you, I heard what you said a while ago, take care of us? Why?” Y/n replied.

“Baby, listen to me, Sunghoon needs me, I can’t let him do everything alone, he’s my best friend,” Jake replied.

“So you’re leaving us?” Y/n said, tears cascading down her cheeks. 

“Baby, I promise to get back to you ok?” Jake said, wiping her tears away.

“That’s the same thing Jay told me the morning he left for work,” Y/n said, sobbing. “You can’t leave me, us,” Y/n replied weakly.

“Baby,” Jake whispered, hugging Y/n tightly.

“I’m pregnant Jake,” Y/n whispered softly, Jake pulling away, looking at Y/n, his eyes landing on her belly, her tiny little bump, tears falling down from his eyes. 

“DUCK!” Jinyoung yelled as various gunshots echoed the place, Jake shielding Y/n with Jungwon’s help.

They’ve found them.

CHAPTER 13

1

“Hello, is anyone there?” Y/n called out, approaching the dark alley, not caring about the danger around there. “Is anyone there?” Y/n called out a bit louder. “If someone is here stop messing around, this is a police matter, come out now or else there will be repercussions,” Y/n said.

“And what are the repercussions,” someone asked from behind her, there was a figure watching her, them, as they investigated the scene. Y/n couldn’t see well because of how dark the alley is not until she turned on her flashlight, her eyes widening, seeing who has been watching them this entire time. Before she could utter a word someone covered her mouth, until darkness took over her surroundings. 

“Damn, I’ve been waiting for this moment,” the unknown man said, caressing her face. 

“Sir Jay, what do you want to do now?” his assistant asked. 

“Take her to the car,” Jay responded, admiring Y/n’s passed out state.

His assistant went over to carry Y/n and as he was about to carry her Jay groaned in pain.

“Sir, are you okay?” his assistant asked.

Jay didn’t respond as he grasped his aching head, blur visions appearing in his mind. 

“Fuck, leave her, let’s go home,” Jay groaned in pain, struggling to stand up. 

Jay followed behind his assistant clutching his head, thinking no one was gonna see him. Heeseung looked in his direction, seeing him flee the scene. 

“Damn this fucking head!” Jay groaned loudly. 

“Maybe you need more rest sir, could be jet lag,” his assistant told him. 

“I don’t need a fucking rest, what I need is that girl!” Jay yelled. 

“We could’ve taken her, but you told me to leave her,” his assistant reasoned.

Who the fuck are you Park Y/n? Jay asked himself, closing his eyes.

The next day

“If they’re gonna kidnap her why didn’t they take her?” Riki asked Heeseung, confused.

“I don’t know, but I hope she’s fine now.” Heeseung replied.

“I’ve seen Y/n once, in Jay’s party, the first time he threw a big one, he scolded his sister for coming out of her room, cause guys tried hitting on her not knowing she’s a minor, I can’t imagine what Jay would think if he finds out Jake hit on his little sister,” Riki replied back to him.

“I don’t see the relevance in our conversation nor our investigation but now I’m curious what she was like,” Heeseung rebutted. 

“Like I said I only met her once, but she was definitely bubbly, she wasn’t like this, she smiled a lot during the time I met her, Jay introduced her to me, she was smiley.” Riki asserted, shrugging his shoulders.

“Did you see her during the burial or the funeral of Jay, I didn’t know how she looked back then,” Heeseung replied to Riki.

“I did, now that you reminded me of that, she didn’t speak to anyone, didn’t utter a word, she was just staring blankly at the closed casket in front of her, Jake tried talking to her but she was just staring blankly at the surroundings, I won’t even describe her state as broken she looked so lost that time,” Riki told Heeseung.

“She did lose her only family, or she might’ve thought,” Heeseung replied before showing Riki the screen of his computer. “We found Jay Lazio,” he added, Riki widening his eyes.

“We should tell Y/n then,” Riki replied a bit loud.

“No, and this stays between us, don’t tell anyone, don’t trust anyone with this information,” Heeseung ordered Riki. 

“What about the others?” Riki asked.

“You can inform Jungwon, Sunoo, Jake and Sunghoon once he’s back, but never ever inform the general about this,” Heeseung said sharply.

Jake laid Y/n in their shared bed, tucking her in. 

“Are you going to work?” Y/n asked quietly, fiddling with her fingers. 

“Do you want me to?” Jake replied.

“No, don’t leave, stay with me,” Y/n replied quietly, tapping the bed beside her.

Jake laid down beside her, wrapping his arms around her.

“Jay is alive all this time,” Y/n whispered.

“ He is, that motherfucker didn’t even inform us he has nine lives.” Jake replied back, earning a playful smack from Y/n. “I was just kidding,” he mumbled, pulling Y/n closer to him.

“Jake, promised me you’ll never leave me whatever happens,” Y/n said.

“I promise, not just to you but to God, I promise him to never leave your side,” Jake replied back, leaving a kiss on her forehead.

“If Jay ever witnesses this, you’ll be having your funeral the next day.” Y/n joked, making Jake laugh.

“He’s gonna resent me, for the rest of his life.” Jake added, stroking Y/n’s hair.

“I love you,” Y/n mumbled, drowsiness taking over her.

“I love you too, my angel,” Jake replied, watching as she slowly closed her eyes.

“Hmm” Jungwon sighs for the 20th time in the past 30 minutes, since his night shift started. 

“Jungwon this is the 20th time you’ve sighed, now what the fuck is wrong?” Riki asked, seriously annoyed.

“Nothing, it’s just that it’s been a year since I joined this department and we’re still working with this serial killer case, wasn’t it just for a year,” Jungwon replied, completely tired from working over and over again with the same files.

“It’s because our general transferred the other case to another department, that’s why they gave us another year to catch this serial killer,” Riki explained. “Y/n is weird these days,” Riki added.

“What do you mean?” Jungwon asked, looking at Y/n’s empty seat.

“Nothing, it’s just that she always looks very pale, she barely has energy like, she’s always in the bathroom,” Riki said, shutting off his computer.

“She does look sick these past few days, and I haven’t seen her husband in awhile,” Jungwon replied back.

After the incident of Y/n almost getting kidnapped by who they believe is Jay, her dead brother, Jake decided to take a month off from work to take care of Y/n. And after 7 months of dating, he decided to marry Y/n. 

On the other hand, Heeseung decided to hand the other case to another department to focus on the serial killer case, earning them another year to solve it. 

“Well I was out on a business trip Jungwon, that’s why you haven’t been seeing me,” Jake said, making an entrance to their department. 

“Welcome back,” Jungwon greeted, smiling.

“Thanks, where’s my wife?” Jake replied, looking around, trying to look for Y/n.

“Oh she called in sick this morning, and I think you have to bring her to the hospital. She looked very sick these past few days,” Riki replied.

“She didn’t tell me that, I would go home but I have work,” Jake replied quietly, rubbing his forehead. 

“Go get to your wife, we’ll be fine, we’ll call you once we have something.” Heeseung said from behind him. 

“Thanks, I’ll go see my wife,” Jake replied, before taking his leave.

“My love,” Jake called out, as soon as he got inside their home.

Looking around, he didn’t see his wife’s presence, which was weird. 

“Love,” Jake called out again.

“I’m in the kitchen!” Y/n finally yelled back, making Jake sigh in relief.

Jake walked towards the kitchen, where he found his wife cooking dinner and he loved this sight. He went over to his wife and gave her a back hug, nuzzling his nose on her neck.

“I missed you so much,” Jake mumbled. 

“I missed you too Jakey, come on get the table ready, let’s eat.” Y/n replied back.

“Mmm how about I eat you instead,” Jake whispered, teasingly.

“Love, I don’t feel really well,” Y/n whispered, turning around at her husband before giving him a peck on his lips.

“Should we go to the hospital?” Jake asked his wife worriedly.

“Maybe tomorrow if I still don’t feel well,” Y/n replied sheepishly at her husband, wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her face in his chest. “I think I need to cuddle more than this meal,” she mumbled, making Jake chuckle.

“Yeah I think it’s late for dinner anyways, come on I’ll cuddle my sick angel,” Jake replied, carrying Y/n bridal style as he walked towards their bedroom.

“Next time, I’ll be carrying 2 angels,” Jake mumbled as he closed the door to their bedroom door.

CHAPTER 14

The next day Y/n woke up early, feeling nauseous again. 

“Is this what being pregnant feels like,” Y/n mumbled, coming out of the bathroom, smiling as she saw Jake sleeping peacefully. Just then her phone rang.

“Hey Jungwon, I don’t think I can -” Y/n said but before she could finish her sentence Jungwon cut her.

“Come here at the station now,” Jungwon said, quietly, making Y/n scrunch her forehead in confusion.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“Just come here, now, don’t bring Jake, make sure he doesn’t follow you,” Jungwon replied, before hanging up.

Y/n looked at her phone seeing messages from Sunghoon telling her the same thing. She changed into her uniform quickly before driving to the station, not forgetting to leave Jake a note saying, “I went to the grocery store, wait for me before you leave or I’ll get mad”. A lie she wrote his husband.

As Y/n arrived at their department there were a lot of officers.

“What’s going on?” Y/n asked, confused on why there are a lot of officers from another department, including the head.

“Mrs. Sim, we have a warrant for your husband, do you know where he is?” The head of the station stated.

“Warrant? For what?” Y/n asked nervously. This can’t be happening, she thought to herself.

“Mrs. Sim, the serial killer you’ve been looking for is your husband, he murdered multiple victims in the past years, so if you don’t want to get detained, tell us your husband’s location,” Eunyeok replied, with the biggest smirk on his face.

“You can detain me, I won’t tell you where he is,” Y/n replied, looking at Sunghoon before nodding at her, understanding the situation.

“The fuck Y/n! Just tell us where he is!” Sunghoon yelled, acting betrayed. 

“You can kill me, I won’t tell you a thing,” Y/n replied.

“Jungwon listen to me, you’re gonna watch Y/n make sure they don’t hurt her,” Sunghoon ordered Jungwon.

“Where are you going? And what the fuck is she doing?” Jungwon asked Sunghoon quietly.

“She’s buying me time, to get Jake out of that damn house and for everything they have to do, just watch Y/n, I'll sneak her out in 5 hours, if I'm not here in 5 hours, sneak her out I’ll send you a location.” Sunghoon replied, before driving away, leaving Jungwon who ran back inside their department immediately. 

Entering their department Jungwon grabbed his car keys with him before putting it safely in his pocket.

“Heeseung I need your help,” Jungwon said quietly as he entered his office.

Heeseung went to reach into his drawer, handing him 2 guns. 

“This is Y/n’s and take this you’ll need it, be careful don’t get caught, I’ll cover for you don’t wait for another 5 hours,” Heeseung explained.

“You heard?” Jungwon asked.

“No, I know. Jay Lazio they have him, protect her from him, he doesn’t remember her and that department was paid by Lazio’s already, call Sunghoon tell him you’re sneaking her out now, don’t wait for 5 hours snuck her out now, you wait for 5 hours Lazio’s will take her,” Heeseung replied.

“Fuck,” Jungwon mumbled as he went out of his office immediately.

Jungwon ran to his car, dialing Sunghoon’s phone. 

“Answer Sunghoon,” Jungwon mumbled as he drove off.

“Jungwon I-” Sunghoon answered but Jungwon cut him off.

“Tell me the meeting location, Heeseung told me this is Lazio’s plan, they're gonna take Y/n,” Jungwon said in one breath.

“Fuck, I’ll text you the meeting location.” Sunghoon replied.

As Jungwon arrived at the other department he showed his id.

“I’m here to question Y/n on Jake’s whereabouts,” Jungwon said.

“You must be the officer Heeseung dispatched here,” the officer in front of him said.

“Yes, I’m officer Yang,” Jungwon replied.

“Come in, turn left you’ll find where she is,” the officer instructed him.

“Thank you,” Jungwon replied.

Jungwon walked fast to where he was instructed to go. Jungwon saw Y/n walking back and forth. Entering the room where Y/n is, Jungwon shushed Y/n before she could respond.

“We’re gonna go,” Jungwon said.

“Jungwon, I saw him, I saw my brother, he’s here, Jay is here,” Y/n said frantically.

“Y/n listen to me we have 10 minutes, and I have to sneak you out of here so listen to me carefully,” Jungwon replied.

“But my brother,” Y/n said, tears prickling in her eyes.

“That’s not your brother, he doesn’t remember you, Heeseung is covering for us so listen to me we have to go or they will take you and if they take you Jake will kill me, so come on let’s go,” Jungwon told Y/n quietly, handing her his hands that she gladly took.

Jungwon peaked outside the door to make sure no one saw them. Pulling Y/n out of the room they ran towards the back exit.

“The girl is escaping!” Someone yelled as soon as they got out.

“Y/n run!” Jungwon yelled as they ran together to his car. As soon as they arrived in front of his car another car in front of them, ready to shoot the driver, they sighed in relief.

“Get in!” Sunghoon yelled at them.

As soon as they got in, Sunghoon drove as fast as he could.

“Where is Jake?” Y/n asked.

“He’s safe, Jungwon you’re going with Y/n they saw you and it’s not safe if you go back.” Sunghoon replied.

“And you?” Jungwon asked.

“I’ll buy you time to escape. They can take me, but not Jake, I can’t let his baby grow up without a father, ” Sunghoon replied.

“Say what now!?” Jungwon asked.

“I’m pregnant,” Y/n replied.

“Sunghoon please come with us, let’s all escape together, we need you,” Jungwon said.

“If I don’t come back, it’ll be harder for us to escape, you need eyes there, and I’ll be your eyes, so Jungwon protect Y/n until you get him to Jake,” Sunghoon said, stopping in an empty road. “Take that car I put the location in already,” he added.

“Sunghoon,” Y/n whispered, tears coming out of her eyes.

“Everything will be fine,” Sunghoon replied, smiling at Y/n as tears pooled in his eyes.

Y/n hugged Sunghoon crying in his arms.

“Thank you for being my brother for a year, please don’t die, you have to come to us, my baby needs an uncle like you,” Y/n sobbed.

The car ride was quiet and it’s almost night already when they arrived, as Y/n saw Jake she jumped on him and hugged him like a koala. 

“Come on, we don't have time,” Jungwon said as he opened the door of the driver’s seat.

“Jungwon you’re not driving,” Y/n said.

“Then who is?” Jungwon asked.

“I’ll drive you two, go get some sleep, I’ll wake you up when I need to sleep.” Jake said, chuckling.

CHAPTER 15

“It wasn’t a set up, Heeseung!” Eunyeok yelled at Heeseung as detaining Y/n was a failure.

“Then what was it? Jay Lazio is your witness! Lazio’s son! How was it not a fucking set up!?” Heeseung yelled back at her brother, as they continued to argue in Eunyeok’s office.

“What the fuck do you know?” Eunyeok asked. “After stealing the real necklace to cover up that it was him who murdered that girl a year ago, now this! You let the wife of that serial killer run away because you think you know everything!” he added.

“I knew it was him, but Y/n was already in a lot of stress that day, I don’t want to add more things to her table, especially when she saw Jay that same night we found a girl shivering in terror that Lazio’s son would’ve killed him. You don’t fucking get it, Y/n suffered enough and I won’t let that happen again, specially when she’s fucking pregnant!” Heeseung yelled.

“I don’t care if she’s pregnant or what, but I want you to be responsible for your actions, we could’ve closed the case if you just didn’t let her leave and now that another officer is in trouble because of what you’ve done,” his brother argued back.

“And what proof do you have that Jake did it?” Heeseung asked.

“Jake isn’t as smart as you think he is, the last person he killed was in an alleyway with a CCTV camera and Jay Lazio was there that same night and he showed us a video of him killing that person,” Eunyeok replied. “It wasn’t a set up, now take full responsibility for it,” he added.

“And when are you going to take responsibility for Officer Park’s disappearance? You think people will be on your side if you catch the serial killer with officer park himself testifying in court?” Heeseung asked.

“Stop changing the topic,” Eunyeok argued, grabbing Heeseung by his collar.

“I will own up to my responsibility and I’ll make sure you own up to yours,” Heeseung replied, pushing his brother away as he left his office slamming the door shut.

Everyone glanced at Sunghoon as he entered the main office where 2 of the crime departments were called. 

“Why are they all looking at you?” Riki asked, as Sunghoon took his seat beside him.

“Because I was gone around the time Y/n escaped, they think I have something to do with it,” Sunghoon responded. 

“Where were you?” Riki asked. 

Sunghoon remained silent, watching as Mr. Kim stood in front of everyone.

“I didn’t know your father was giving us a lecture,” Sunghoon mumbled, diverting the topic to Sunoo.

“Shut up, he thought I had something to do with Y/n’s escape plan,” Sunoo responded, glaring at his own father.

“So as you all know the serial killer’s identity has been revealed to everyone here, well not just here but the public,” Sunoo’s father said, looking at everyone before continuing. “ The serial killer is none other than, Sim Jaeyun also known as Jake or in the public’s eye Mr. Detective, he was an officer for one year until he started taking his masters,” he added. “As his identity was revealed, he also disappeared together with his wife, Sim Y/n, at the time of their disappearance Yang Jungwon, another officer was seen with Y/n running away, escaping, with the help of chief Lee.” He continued. “I am suspending Lee Heeseung from his position as the chief and assigning my son Kim Sunoo as the new chief of their crime department, and Lee Heeseung will be charged as Sim Jaeyun’s acquaintance, any questions?” He explained.

Everyone looked at Sunoo who was shaking his head in disapproval of his father’s decision. 

“How was it getting paid by Lazios?” Sunghoon asked, loud enough for everyone to hear in the meeting room.

“Excuse me?” Sunoo’s father asked, as everyone looked at him shocked.

Sunghoon smirked, standing up. 

“Another body was just found while you were giving your meaningless speech up there, like you’re the next president, when you’re just another dog barking for Lazio,” Sunghoon replied, smirking at them.

Murmuring soon erupted in the quiet meeting room as the news of another body being found in a quiet alley.  

“That can’t be, Jake is gone,” Sunoo whispered.

“He could have had a partner,” Heeseung replied, as the quiet meeting room soon erupted with radio calls, asking for back ups.

“It doesn’t make any sense! Jake is gone, he’s somewhere not even god would know,” Eunyeok yelled at Heeseung, while he drank his favorite whiskey.

“Or they could’ve edited that damn CCTV footage,” Heeseung replied to his older brother smuggly, who’s sending daggers at him through his glares. 

“And why would you say that?” Eunyeok asked, glaring at him.

“I don’t know, you tell me, Jay suddenly appeared in front of everyone years after his death. Isn't it ironic how Y/n has always been right in all her theories?” Heeseung answered his brother angrily. 

“I should’ve gotten rid of her a long time ago,” Eunyeok replied. “Now that bitch had gone somewhere with Yang and Sim,” he added, taking another sip of his whiskey before banging his hand on the table.

“So you’re admitting it?” Heeseung asked, standing up, approaching his brother. 

“I ain’t admitting anything, besides Jay never died, so I don’t have anything to admit,” Eunyeok replied to Heeseung.

“You fucker, you ruined Y/n’s life, now her life is in danger and worst from her own brother’s hands,” Heeseung said angrily throwing away the glass of whiskey that was in front of her brother.

Eunyeok grabbed Heeseung’s collar before saying, “you fucking ungrateful fucker, you should be thanking me for getting rid of that fucker, if I didn’t he would’ve taken away your position and because of your stupidity you lost your position to that Kim,”

Heeseung pushed Eunyeok away from him, “you’re the ungrateful one here asshole, you should be thanking me for not telling anyone how dirty your work is,” he argued before turning around ignoring all his brother’s yellings for him to come back.

Jake, Y/n and Jungwon arrived at 4am at their location, where a helicopter was waiting for them. It was windy and cold, Y/n held onto Jake, needing more warmth from him. 

“Jake,” someone called out. Turning around, Y/n and Jungwon saw an unknown face in front of them. 

“Sorry it took us long to arrive here,” Jake said, greeting the guy in front of them. “This is Y/n and Jungwon, please take care of them,” he added, making sure to say the last words as low as possible. 

“Oh hi, I’m Jinyoung,” the guy in front of them replied, earning a smile from Y/n and Jungwon.

“You two should get in, I have to make a quick call,” Jake said, earning a nod from Jungwon, who’s now struggling to get inside the helicopter. 

“I didn’t you’re this short,” Y/n teased, as she saw how Jungwon struggled. 

“Shut up,” Jungwon replied, laughing, handing out his hand to Y/n to help her get in. 

Y/n didn’t budge, she stood there, looking at Jungwon’s hand.

“Y/n, love, come on, it’s cold,” Jake said, trying to carry Y/n, who stopped him.

“You’re leaving us are you,” Y/n said, holding Jake’s jacket tightly, looking up at him, her eyes watering.

“No, I just need to call Sunghoon quickly,” Jake replied nervously.

“I heard you, I heard what you said a while ago, take care of us? Why?” Y/n replied.

“Baby, listen to me, Sunghoon needs me, I can’t let him do everything alone, he’s my best friend,” Jake replied.

“So you’re leaving us?” Y/n said, tears cascading down her cheeks. 

“Baby, I promise to get back to you ok?” Jake said, wiping her tears away.

“That’s the same thing Jay told me the morning he left for work,” Y/n said, sobbing. “You can’t leave me, us,” Y/n replied weakly.

“Baby,” Jake whispered, hugging Y/n tightly.

“I’m pregnant Jake,” Y/n whispered softly, Jake pulling away, looking at Y/n, his eyes landing on her belly, her tiny little bump, tears falling down from his eyes. 

“DUCK!” Jinyoung yelled as various gunshots echoed the place, Jake shielding Y/n with Jungwon’s help.

They’ve found them.

Y/n groaned in her sleep as the bell in Jake’s apartment kept ringing. “Who the fuck is it in the middle of the night?” Y/n spoke, getting up from the bed carefully as she wore Jake’s shirt before going out of the room to get the door that keeps ringing. 

Opening the door a girl probably in her 20s was outside the door. 

“Who are you?” Y/n asked, looking at the girl confused.

“I’m Sera, Jake’s girlfriend.” She replied, introducing herself smiling at Y/n. 

“Baby why did you leave me alone in the bed,” Jake whined, back hugging Y/n with his eyes closed, not aware of the situation. Opening his eyes, he looked at the girl in front of her who’s fuming in anger. Y/n tried removing his arms from her waist but he tightened his grip on her. 

“Jake let go,” Y/n spoke in a warning tone.

“What the fuck are you doing here Sera?” Jake asked, annoyed by Sera’s presence. 

“I should be the one asking that, what the fuck is this girl doing inside your apartment, wearing your shirt while you’re only in your boxers?” Sera asked, anger laced her voice. 

Jake finally let Y/n go who ran inside his room, and locked it. 

“We fucking broke up,” Jake said, gritting his teeth. 

“Over a text,” Sera argued. 

“That was a year ago, you fucking cheated on me remember? And now you’re creating a misunderstanding between me and my girlfriend.” He argued back.

“Jake, I never broke up with you, how can you cheat on me,” Sera said, tears pooling her eyes.

“You’re fucking crazy, I broke up with you a year ago, now fucking leave before I call the cops on you oh wait my girlfriend is an officer, I can ask her to arrest you.” Jake argued as Sera left the place stomping her feet defeated. 

Jake sighed, not knowing how to face Y/n. Jake knocked on their now shared room.

“Y/n open up, let me explain.” Jake pleaded. “If you don’t open this door, I’m gonna fucking break it,” Jake said. 

Hearing the door lock clicked open he didn’t wait anytime to open the door and take Y/n in his embrace. 

“That’s my ex baby,” Jake said, sitting down at the edge of the bed as he put Y/n in his lap, leaving kisses on her forehead. 

“She said she’s your girlfriend.” Y/n argued. 

“Look at me, we broke up a year ago, I mean I did, over a text when I found out she was cheating on me with someone else,” Jake said, holding her cheeks with his hands making her look at him.

“I love you,” Y/n mumbled.

“Baby, I’d let the world burn for you.” Jake replied, as he pulled her with him inside the blanket, making sure she went back to sleep. Jake rubbed her back, until they both drifted to dreamland again.

“Goddammit, I swear to god if I catch this serial killer, I’m gonna kill him myself!” Heeseung exclaimed as their department got busy. Phones ringing here and there, new information of dead bodies being found being reported every 5 minutes.

“Damn, he went on no killing for a week and now he went on a killing spree,” Sunoo added on Heeseung’s statement. 

“Damn it, I only had 3 hrs of sleep, what the fuck is going on!?” Riki asked, arriving at their busy department. 

“The serial killer went on a killing spree, there’s already 5 reports of dead bodies found.” Jungwon responded as he continued to type on his computer. 

“We’re here!” Y/n exclaimed as she entered with Jake and Sunghoon. “What’s the update?” She asked.

“5 dead bodies confirmed,” Jungwon replied, still busy typing on his computer. Y/n glanced over at Sunghoon who has a big smirk on his face. 

“We have 2 more dead bodies, damn it!” Heeseung exclaimed. “Jake and Y/n go to the hospital and check the bodies, Jungwon stays here with Sunoo and answers the calls, Riki you’re coming with me at the scenes. And update me on other reports.” Heeseung ordered. 

“What about me?” Sunghoon asked. 

“Try to look for witnesses, Sunoo and Jungwon can give you info on that.” Heeseung replied before quickly leaving with Riki following behind him.

“Let’s go,” Y/n told Jake as she dragged him with her. 

Y/n and Jake went inside the car as quickly as they could. Y/n started the engine. 

“The fuck is wrong with Sunghoon?” Y/n asked as she focused her eyes on the road. 

“That’s what you called revenge,” Jake responded. 

“He went on a killing spree! And how did he even know that they’re all criminals!?” Y/n exclaimed, her eyes still focused on the road.

“Sunghoon prepares everything beforehand, and once I heal it’s my turn,” Jake replied.

Y/n diverted her attention on Jake who’s busy smirking to himself. 

“What if you get caught?” Y/n asked.

“I won’t, unless you tell on me,” Jake replied, chuckling.

Y/n just looked at him annoyed as she went back to focus on the road to arrive at the hospital as fast as they could.

The hospital is also busy, there are reporters everywhere. Arriving at the hospital, Y/n and Jake entered.

“Wait, aren’t you Mr. Detective?” One of the reporters asked loudly, making everyone divert their attention to us.

“Mr. Detective, please tell us about the gun attack the other day,” one of the reporters said.

“Excuse me but we’re on duty and we don’t have time to answer any of those stupid questions, now if you’ll excuse us,” Y/n blurted, clearly annoyed by the situation. As they tried to leave, one of the reporters asked again, “Wait, you’re Officer Park’s little sister, please tell us about the attack,” one of the reporters stated loudly again, the reporters now surrounding them.

“Ouch!” Jake exclaimed, one of the reporters accidentally hitting his still healing wound on his shoulder.

“I SAID WE’RE ON FUCKING WORK! GODDAMMIT!” Y/n yelled at them, starting to push everyone out of their way as she pulled Jake with her. 

“Damn this reporter, can’t they mind their own business instead of meddling with our lives,” Y/n spoke. 

“You’re hot when you’re mad,” Jake said.

“Not now Jake, or I won’t let you touch me for a month,” Y/n said. 

“Oh come on, I was just joking, chill a little bit,” Jake replied.

“The serial killer went on a killing spree today,” Mr. Lazio said, eating breakfast with his son and Mr. Kim. 

“The serial killer only takes down criminals whose charges were dropped. We can actually use him to be our gunman,” Mr. Kim suggested. 

“If you can find him, we’ll hire him right son,” Mr. Lazio declared, glancing at his son. 

“I don’t care about him, I told you what I want,” his son replied, glaring at him.

“Son, I would’ve brought her here, but she’s a threat to us, she knows way too much.” Mr. Lazio argued.

“I want Park Y/n! She’s fucking mine!” His son yelled, banging his hand on the table.

“Jay Lazio, calm down, she’s already taken by none other than Mr. Detective, Sim Jaeyun,” Mr. Lazio said.

“Then kill him,” Jay replied, before leaving. 

CHAPTER 11

It’s been a month since the serial killer went on a killing spree and since that night happened, more dead bodies had been found, and their department became very busy. 

“Damn this serial killer, how can this serial killer be this smart?” Jungwon asked himself, as he continued to type his report to submit to their academy. “And I hate to say it, but it’s very quiet,” he added.

“Oh you did not,” Riki said, gritting his teeth and just then their phone started ringing with the arrival of Y/n inside their department. 

“That word is ban here Jungwon,” Y/n said, taking a seat in her chair not forgetting to greet Riki, who hasn’t talked to her since he arrived from his vacation. 

“Y/n, you go to the crime scene, Riki and Sunoo in the hospital and Jungwon stays here with me.” Heeseung, their chief, ordered. 

“Damn, I’ve never gone to the crime scene alone.” Y/n said, grabbing her car keys. 

“You could’ve sent me with Y/n, you know,” Jungwon said, staring at Heeseung who’s busy writing another report of the dead body found near an abandoned alley. 

“I can’t, you both are rookies, I’ll get in trouble.” Heeseung replied, still focusing on his report.

“Won’t you get more in trouble for sending a rookie alone, at the crime scene,” Jungwon said as Heeseung diverted his attention to him before cursing to himself. 

“Fuck, you should’ve started with that,” Heeseung retorted before making a phone call. 

“Oh by the way, I haven’t seen Mr. Lee for weeks now, what happened to him?” Jungwon asked.

“He’s just busy,” Heeseung responded.

“But shouldn’t he be working here with us,” Jungwon replied back.

“He’s a general, he has other works too,” Heeseung argued. “And besides, whenever he’s here, Y/n always fights with him, and if he finds out that Y/n filed to open Jay’s case, he’s gonna go nuts.” He added.

“I feel bad for Y/n though, imagine having to get through that type of pain, losing her parents at such a young age, then suddenly after turning 18 she just suddenly lost her only family.” Jungwon stated. 

“What do you know about Jay?” Heeseung suddenly asked, taking Jungwon off guard. 

“What do you mean what do I know about him?” Jungwon replied nervously.

“I don’t know, you’ve known Y/n for more than 2 years, maybe she told you something,” Heeseung replied.

“She won’t even tell me why she wanted to become a police officer, and you’re asking me what I know about her brother,” Jungwon replied back, chuckling nervously. 

Heeseung studied Jungwon's face for a moment before returning his attention to his report. "Just make sure you keep an eye on Y/n. She's been through a lot, and this case is getting to her."

Jungwon nodded, his mind racing with thoughts about Y/n and Jay. He had never seen Y/n as vulnerable as she had been since the serial killings started. And while she never spoke much about her brother, Jungwon could see the pain in her eyes whenever his name was mentioned.

Meanwhile, Y/n was driving to the crime scene, trying to push away the nagging feeling of unease. She had always been determined and strong, but something about this case felt different. She pulled up to the taped-off area, her stomach knotting at the sight of the flashing lights and bustling officers.

As she got out of her car, an officer approached her. "Officer Y/n, I'm Officer Kim. We've secured the scene, but it's not pretty."

Y/n nodded, taking a deep breath before following him to the body. The victim was a young woman, her lifeless eyes staring up at the sky. Y/n felt a pang of sadness but steeled herself. She had a job to do.

"Any witnesses?" she asked, pulling out her notebook.

"Just a couple of people who found the body. They're pretty shaken up," Officer Kim replied.

Y/n sighed, looking around for any clues the killer might have left behind. "Alright, I'll start with the witnesses. Keep the area secure and make sure the forensics team has everything they need."

Back at the department, Jungwon was restless. He hated being stuck behind a desk while Y/n was out there, facing the dangers of the crime scene alone. He glanced over at Heeseung, who was still engrossed in his report.

"Chief, is there anything else I can do? Maybe go through the files again or help with the analysis?" Jungwon asked.

Heeseung looked up, thinking for a moment. "Actually, yes. Why don't you dig into the victim profiles again? See if you can find any connections we might have missed. And keep your phone on in case Y/n needs backup."

Jungwon nodded, feeling a sense of purpose as he dived into the files. He meticulously went through each victim's background, looking for any patterns or links that could help them catch the killer.

Hours passed, and the department was a hive of activity. Riki and Sunoo returned from the hospital, their faces grim. "The latest victim's family is devastated. They said she had no enemies, no reason for anyone to target her," Sunoo reported.

Heeseung sighed, running a hand through his hair. "This killer is a ghost. No clear motive, no connections. It's like they're picking victims at random."

Just then, Jungwon's phone buzzed. It was Y/n. "Jungwon, I’m coming back, something’s wrong with this case."

“What did you find Y/n?” Heeseung asked, as soon as she arrived at their department. 

“If we go through all the files again, all of them are connected except this one,” Y/n stated.

“What do you mean?” Jungwon asked, skimming through all the files again, what could he possibly have missed while going through it again.

“What is it Y/n? Sunoo asked. 

“This victim was strangled to death, not stabbed, she also is clean, no crimes committed, compared to the other victims, they’re all criminals except her,” Y/n explained.

“So you’re telling us right now, that there’s another serial killer on the loose?” Heeseung asked.

“No, this isn’t a serial killer, this is another murder case, not related to the serial killer.” Y/n replied.

Y/n arrived at Jake’s apartment, tired with the new case they’re dealing with.

“You arrived,” Jake said, coming out from the shower, towel wrapped around his waist. “You okay?” He asked, pulling Y/n closer to him, kissing her forehead.

“You were with me last night, did Sunghoon go on killing last night?” Y/n asked, almost whispering.

“What? No, Sunghoon isn’t even in the country, why what happened?” Jake asked, sitting down at the edge of the bed, pulling Y/n on his lap.

“They found a dead body, near an abandoned alley,” Y/n replied. 

“I was with you last night, whole night, I didn’t leave,” Jake assured her.

“I know, the body they found today, she was strangled to death and there are no motives for someone to do that to her.” Y/n explained.

“Ok, tomorrow, I’ll be with you and help with what I can help with for now, let me have you.” Jake replied, before pulling Y/n into a heated kiss.

“I fucking miss you,” Jake said in between their kiss, his hand traveling in between her legs, cupping her clothed area.

“Jake,” Y/n moaned in his mouth, making him groan and deepened the kiss more. 

Pulling away from their kiss, Jake started undressing Y/n, pushing her down the mattress and pulling her at the edge of the bed before taking off the towel on his waist. 

“Wanna see your face when I c*m in this p***y,” Jake said, giving her c**t a tight slap before he started to kiss her again hungrily, his fingers sliding inside her folds, making her moan. 

Y/n wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled him closer towards him as they continued to kiss each other hungrily, his fingers ramming in and out of her. 

“Fucking wet,” Jake groaned, not wasting more time and pushing his length inside Y/n. Jake groaned feeling her tight walls around him. He started moving his hips, his c**k ramming in and out of her, making Y/n a moaning mess. 

“God, keep going,” Y/n moaned, digging her nails on his shoulders, making him groan. Jake placed her legs on his shoulders as he increased his pace and the depth of his thrusts, too sensitive Y/n clenched around him. 

“God, stop clenching baby,” Jake said, bending forward to capture her lips in a heated kiss as he continued to ram in and out of her, hitting her spot from every thrust. Swallowing Y/n’s whines and moans with the kiss, Jake smirked in their kiss, his free hand moving on her cl*t rubbing her. Breaking the kiss, Y/n threw her head back into the mattress and moaned loudly.

“Jake! Fuck!” Y/n moaned, her head thrown back from the pleasure, her hand holding on his back, leaving marks as her nails dug into his skin. 

“OH! FUCK! JAKE!” Y/n screamed as she felt him abusing her spot. 

“God baby,” Jake groaned, holding her waist, keeping her in place as he kept thrusting in and out of her, bringing his hand on her stomach, he can feel the bulge created in her lower abdomen. 

“Fuck!” Jake cursed as he continued to thrust harshly and deepened it. 

“Fuck c*m with me,” Jake groaned, coming with Y/n with a few more thrusts, filling her up. 

Jake pulled Y/n up, carrying her to the bathroom to clean her up. “Damn, I’m hard again,” Jake groaned as Y/n slapped his arms playfully.

The following morning, Y/n woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing. Groggy, she reached for it and saw Jungwon's name flashing on the screen.

"Jungwon, what is it?" she asked, trying to clear the sleep from her voice.

"Y/n, we've got a lead. Heeseung wants everyone at the department ASAP," Jungwon's urgent tone snapped her fully awake.

"We’ll be there in twenty," she replied, quickly ending the call.

Jake stirred beside her. "What's going on?" he mumbled, eyes half-open.

"Jungwon says they have a lead. We have to go," Y/n explained, hurriedly getting dressed.

Jake got up immediately as he started getting dressed hurriedly. 

As soon as they arrived at the scene the atmosphere was very tense. Everyone has a serious expression on their face. 

"We've got a witness who saw someone leaving the scene of the latest murder," Heeseung began. "They're currently at the station for questioning. Jake, I want you to talk to them."

Jake nodded, grabbing his notebook and heading to the interrogation room with Y/n following behind him. Inside, a young man sat nervously, fidgeting with his hands. Y/n and Jake took a seat across from him, offering a reassuring smile.

"Hi, I'm Detective Sim. Can you tell me what you saw?" he asked gently.

The man, who introduced himself as Minho, took a deep breath. "I was walking home late last night when I saw a man in dark clothes running away from the alley. He looked... frantic, like he was in a hurry to get away."

"Did you see his face?" Jake pressed.

Minho shook his head. "No, it was too dark. But he was tall and he has a tattoo on his right hand, it’s almost like it’s glowing."

Jake noted the details, his mind working to connect the dots. "Did you notice anything else? Any distinguishing features or anything unusual?"

Minho thought for a moment. "He dropped something as he ran. I didn't get a good look, but it might have been a piece of jewelry. It glittered under the streetlight."

Y/n and Jake thanked Minho for his help and left the room, her mind racing. Jake immediately relayed the information to Heeseung and the team. "We need to check the area for any dropped items. If it's jewelry, it could lead us to the killer."

Heeseung nodded, already making calls to organize a search team. "Good work, everyone. This could be the break we need."

As the team prepared to head out, Jungwon approached Y/n. "I'll come with you to the crime scene. We need all hands on deck."

Together, they drove to the alley where the body had been found. The area was cordoned off, and officers were already combing the scene for evidence. Y/n and Jungwon joined the search, meticulously examining every inch of the alley.

"Over here!" an officer called out, holding up a small, glittering object.

Y/n and Jungwon rushed over. The officer handed them a delicate silver bracelet, partially covered in dirt. Y/n inspected it closely, her eyes widening. 

“Y/n what’s wrong?” Sunoo asked.

“The bracelet has name engraved in it, Jay Lazio,” 

CHAPTER 12

“Now who the hell is Jay Lazio?” Riki asked, as they all entered the meeting room. “Do we even have a record of that name?” He added. 

“I’ve never heard of that name, but good news is the general won’t be joining us,” Heeseung replied, looking over at Y/n as he said those last words. 

“It’s about time,” Y/n whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear, making everyone chuckle at her reaction. 

“So, we don’t have a record of Jay Lazio, but we do have a record of the family Lazio, we can start from and work our way up until we find that name,” Heeseung said. 

“Who are they?” Sunoo asked, as he never heard of that family name before. 

“They are a dangerous family, they aren’t actually from here, they’re italians until Italy found out about them and they flew here so they can hide which they successfully did, 5 years after entering the country, all departments were informed about them, and this department saw a member of that family that’s why we have a record, they did a lot of drug smugglings, murders, threats and all the bad things that exist in this world,” Y/n replied, everyone looking at her.

“How did you know that, you weren’t here nor were you alive when it all started,” Riki asserted. 

“It was the last job my brother took, and I think Jay Lazio is the same Jay we know.” Y/n replied.

“That’s impossible Y/n, Jay died years ago,” Riki argued. 

“Then tell me why his coffin is empty,” Y/n voiced out.

“What?” Jungwon asked. 

“The coffin they buried it’s empty, there are no remains, and I know for sure that worms don't eat human bones.” Y/n stated everyone was looking at her. 

“And how would you know that?” Heeseung asked.

“I got his grave excavated about a year ago,” Y/n responded. 

“They’re opening Jay’s case next week, and I hope you know what you’re gonna have to deal with,” Heeseung informed them, looking at Y/n.

“I can deal with the general, and I hope you’re not as bad as him because if you are, I’ll make sure you lose everything,” Y/n replied.

“Damn, why is this case so long,” Sunoo complained, putting his head on his desk. 

Their department started working early in the afternoon but it’s almost midnight and there’s still no sign of Jay Lazio’s name on the files.

“It’s almost 12 am and we haven’t found anything about Jay Lazio,” Riki said, as he gave everyone their coffee.

Their department decided they’re taking turns on who’s buying coffee every 2 hours to keep them awake from their shift. It became quiet after they were handed their coffee, not until the phone started ringing. 

“Now what?” Jungwon complained, clearly tired from working since 12 pm. 

“Everyone up, we got an emergency call,” Heeseung yelled, standing up from his seat before sprinting to his car with the other officers following behind him. 

Their department arrived at the scene with an ambulance following behind them, searching the area they found a girl shivering in fear. 

“Hi, I’m Lee Heeseung, the chief. May I know your name?” Heeseung asked while Y/n, Jake and Jungwon watched him interrogate the girl that made the emergency call, as for Sunoo and Riki they’re busy looking around the area. 

“Where are you going?” Jake asked Y/n holding her arm as he noticed her going to walk away. 

“I’m just gonna take a look around and see if I can find anything,” Y/n replied.

“Fine but stay close,” Jake told her, letting her arm go carefully, watching her take a look around the area.

As Y/n takes a look around the area, she noticed someone standing from afar, watching her.

“Hello, is anyone there?” Y/n called out, approaching the dark alley, not caring about the danger around there. “Is anyone there?” Y/n called out a bit louder. “If someone is here stop messing around, this is a police matter, come out now or else there will be repercussions,” Y/n said.

“And what are the repercussions,” someone asked from behind her. Turning around she couldn’t see well because of the darkness, but she spotted a shadow.

“Who are you? Come out now,” Y/n said. “Damn it,” Y/n cursed, opening the flashlight of her phone to see better, as soon as her eyes landed on that figure her eyes widened and before she could say something someone covered her mouth and everything turned black for her.

“So you’re telling us she went to look around and after that she disappeared?” Jungwon asked Jake, who has been looking around worriedly trying to find Y/n.

“We’ll find her Jake, come on let’s go at the station, it’s late,” Heeseung said, trying to convince Jake into going back to the station.

“No, I won’t go back without her,” Jake said, walking away from them calling out Y/n’s name. 

“Y/N!” Jungwon yelled around the area helping Jake find Y/n.

“Y/N BABY! DAMN IT! COME OUT NOW! IT’S NOT FUNNY!” Jake yelled tears started streaming down his cheeks, he kept yelling until he reached the dark alley. Wiping his tears he turned on the flashlight of his phone and his eyes widened. 

“Oh my god! Y/n!” Jake yelled as he found Y/n lying on the cold floor of the dark alley. “Y/n,” Jake uttered, taking Y/n in his arms before running and screaming to get an ambulance.

“What happened?” Heeseung asked as soon as they arrived at the hospital.

“I don’t know, I found her lying down on the cold concrete,” Jake responded, while waiting for the doctors to come out. 

And just as Sunoo was about to say something the doctors came out. 

“Is she okay?” Jake asked.

“She’s fine, she’s conscious, a little bit disoriented but she’s okay now, if you may excuse me,” the doctor informed them and Jake didn’t wait any second and barged inside Y/n’s room.

“Y/n,” Jake said as he ran to her to hug her tightly. “I told you not to wander far from us,” Jake said, scolding Y/n. “Tell me what happened,” Jake said, pulling away from the hug as he held her hand in his. 

“I saw him,” Y/n said, her eyes teary.

“Saw who?” Heeseung asked.

“Jay,” Y/n replied.

“Jay?” Riki asked, confused.

“I saw him with my own eyes, he was there, at the dark alley, watching us,” Y/n stated, tears started falling down from her eyes.

“Okay, calm down, look at me, tell me exactly what happened,” Jake told Y/n holding her face with his hands to make her look at him in his eyes.

“When I was looking around I saw a figure watching from afar it was on the dark alley and I went near it, but it was gone, I walked further the alley and asked who it was and someone, someone spoke from behind me, when I turned around I couldn’t see him well it was dark, but when I turned on my flashlight I saw him, but then someone covered my mouth then everything went dark, I saw Jay, I saw my brother he’s alive,” Y/n explained her tears cascading on her cheeks.

“Ok, there was a CCTV camera around the area. We'll see what we can find, for now rest, Jake, come with me,” Heeseung said.

“No, no, you don’t believe me, I saw him with my eyes, you have to believe me, I’m not crazy, I saw Jay, please,” Y/n said.

“Baby, calm down, I believe you, rest for now I have to talk to Heeseung,” Jake said before giving her lips a short peck.

“I’m not lying,” Y/n whispered.

“I know, I believe you,” Jake responded, lying her down the hospital bed before motioning Jungwon and the others to watch Y/n for a little while.

When Jake came out of the room he found Heeseung in the hall.

“Y/n needs to take a break with this case, it’s getting to her way too much,” Heeseung said.

“I know,” Jake replied, sighing.

“I believe Y/n, we’ll obtain the CCTV footage tomorrow morning,” Heeseung told Jake, patting his back.

“You believe she saw her brother?” Jake asked.

“I do, I saw him flee the scene. He came from the dark alley, I thought I was seeing things but Y/n said she saw him too,” Heeseung replied. “And Eunyeok was paid by Lazio, and I think you should know that, he knows something we don't, so this case is only for us, make sure not to mention it,” he added.

“What?” Jake asked.

“I don’t think it’s the time to explain it, but I will explain everything to you and Y/n soon now go back inside and take care of her, and send Riki out we’ll guard here.” Heeseung replied to him.

CHAPTER 9

Mr. Kim sat in his office with a glass of his Emerald Isle in his hands as Eunyeok sat in front of him, showing him the news that came out earlier that afternoon.

“Earlier today at 12pm bodies had been found dead in a dark alley road, people residing near that area recalled hearing multiple gunshots. It was said that the people who owned the black car had been targeted and as we’re speaking it has been confirmed that the owner of the car was Sim Jaeyun a famous detective who was previously the mentor of the deceased officer Park Jongseong who’s been brutally murdered 3 years ago and according to reports Mr. Detective was seen with another rookie, who was identified as Park Y/n and it was claimed that Park Y/n is a family member of the late officer Park.” The reporter stated as Eunyeok listened carefully to the news. 

“Your men, they’re useless, fucking garbage!” Mr. Kim yelled, throwing his glass of irish whiskey on the wall. “How can 2 people kill all your men that easily!? They’re using rifles while that detective and that rookie was using a handgun!” He yelled again.

“I’m sorry Mr. Kim, I’ll make sure to get them killed tomorrow,” Eunyeok said, apologizing as he kept his head hung low. 

“No, I’ll handle it, because I’m sure now, Mr. Lazio had seen that news.” Mr. Kim responded, standing up from his seat. “I’ll give you a new task, kill everyone that will get in the way, and that includes your brother, Heeseung, no exception.” Mr. Kim ordered. 

“And what about Sunoo?” Eunyeok asked.

“Sunoo is my son, I’ll handle him you, you fucking handle your brother. Now get out of my sight.” Mr. Kim stated, pushing Eunyeok out of his office.

“Are you sure you want to go home?” Y/n asked. 

“Yeah, I feel fine now and I can’t fucking wait to fuck you.” Jake replied, whispering the last sentence in her ears.

“Jake, you just got shot,” Y/n told him. 

“I don’t care. I’ll get what I want.” Jake said, smirking.

“We’re gonna get it excavated and put someone else’s remains,” Mr. Lazio replied to him, smirking.

“Your men, they’re useless, fucking garbage!” Mr. Kim yelled, throwing his glass of irish whiskey on the wall. “How can 2 people kill all your men that easily!? They’re using rifles while that detective and that rookie was using a handgun!” He yelled again.

“I’m sorry Mr. Kim, I’ll make sure to get them killed tomorrow,” Eunyeok said, apologizing as he kept his head hung low. 

“No, I’ll handle it, because I’m sure now, Mr. Lazio had seen that news.” Mr. Kim responded, standing up from his seat. “I’ll give you a new task, kill everyone that will get in the way, and that includes your brother, Heeseung, no exception.” Mr. Kim ordered.

“Dad? Where are you going?” Sunoo asked as he saw his father getting ready to leave at 12am after arriving from his shift.

“Mr. Lazio, the girl knows that the remains are missing.” Mr. Kim argued. 

“We’re gonna get it excavated and put someone else’s remains,” Mr. Lazio replied to him, smirking.

“That’s the problem, she got it excavated and now the grave is gone.” Mr. Kim informed him.

“She’s as clever as her brother.” Mr. Lazio spoke, anger laced his voice. “My son will arrive in the next coming days,” he added.

“And there’s no proof either that someone from this department took it.” Sunoo said as he went back to type on his computer.

“Y/n, is pretty suspicious,” Heeseung said, making Sunoo divert his attention to him.

“What do you mean?” Sunoo asked.

“She knows a lot about Jay, about this department, she knows about everything.” Heeseung responded.

“No, she just has beef with the general, that’s all, and if you say that she knows a lot, it’s like you’re agreeing that we’re getting paid here to release criminals.” Sunoo argued.

“You’re right, I shouldn’t jump to conclusions,” Heeseung said.

“Oh wait, did you know that their assignment was to give Jay’s case a theory on what they think really happened?” Sunoo asked, now getting Heeseung’s attention.

“What?” Heeseung asked, his eyes widening with the information.

“Yeah, Jungwon told me that their academy mentor found out about what happened and decided to give everyone that assignment, you know my father is pretty close with Mr. Sim and my father asked me about Y/n, because apparently her theory is very accurate.” Sunoo replied. “Oh and except one, she mentioned that Jay’s remains are missing,” he added.

“She knows what happened to her brother and they did have a close casket during his burial and funeral.” Heeseung said, thinking why was the casket closed during that time, he saw his dead body, why was it closed, that question lingered in his mind.

“Ms. Y/n, I heard Sim Jaeyun accepted you as his rookie, he hasn’t accepted any rookie ever since Jay,” Mr. Sim said, giving statements in his class as he gave out their assignments. “I really love all your theories, but Ms. Y/n can you tell us about your theory, I’m really amazed at how accurate your theory is,” Mr. Sim added, smiling at her as she received applause from the other rookies. 

As Y/n stood up in front of the class, Mr. Sim gave her a smile of assurance that she did really well on her assignment. 

“Before we start, I want to inform everyone that the reason we did this was because of what took place in the meeting room, please stand up for yourself, like what Ms. Y/n did, the general can be very harsh so you have to stand up for yourself.” Mr. Sim informed them. 

“Ms. Y/n please tell me about the job of Mr. Park, the one you wrote on the theory,” Mr. Sim said. 

“Jay was a remarkable rookie and officer, he’s a very hardworking officer, he took every job offer they offered him, they were easy jobs, investigating a crime case, catching a criminal and writing a report of every latest murder case. However the last job he took was for someone else, that someone else didn’t want to take that job because of how risky it is, being offered a large sum of money he accepted it. His job was to spy on a large group of drug dealers without getting caught and making an arrest.” Y/n responded. 

“This is actually accurate, because Jay indeed, took all job offers including the last one, Ms. Y/n please tell me what happened.” Mr. Sim said. 

“They find out about him.” Y/n responded, trying to remain in her composure. 

“That’s right, when he was very close to completing his job, his duty, they found out about him. Ms. Y/n I’m not gonna ask you about his cause of death, but I’m curious about the missing remains, why is that your theory?” Mr. Sim asked.

Eunyeok drove into one of the mansions he’s working with as he was called by their leader. He doesn’t work alone nor does he work with a small group, he works with a large group of syndicate. “When are you planning to tell me that you’ve found Jay’s sister? Or perhaps, are you trying to betray Mr. Lazio?” Mr. Kim asked, approaching Eunyeok. 

“No sir, there’s no such thing, I’m just waiting for the right time,” He responded, his head hung low.

“Mr. Lee, you must’ve forgotten that everything related to our past enemy should be reported immediately, there’s no right time when it comes to threat.” Mr. Kim reminded him, keeping his head hung low. “What do we know about this girl?” He asked.

“She’s not a threat, at least not yet.” Eunyeok responded, looking up at him.

“Mr. Sim gave out all his rookies an assignment about Park Jongseong and I can tell you we have to eliminate his sister as soon as possible, she knows way too much.” Mr. Kim informed him.

“We can’t eliminate her.” Eunyeok responded.

“Why is that?” He was asked.

“Sim Jaeyun is his mentor, she’s protected 24/7, we can’t tap her phone nor can we pinpoint the location she’s staying at.” Eunyeok responded again. “Her brain, it’s connected to her brother,” he added.

“Well then eliminate all the threats.” Mr. Kim said, turning around as he left Eunyeok all alone in his backyard.

“Jake didn’t tell you, did he?” Y/n asked.

“Tell me what?” Mr. Sim asked, looking at her with confusion.

“I just turned 18 when it happened. I was waiting for Jay to come home, but he never did. At 12am someone knocked on the door and I thought it was finally Jay, but it was Jake, he told me Jay got shot during work and he told me he’s gone. When I went to the hospital, hoping I could see my brother for one last time, they told me he’s unrecognizable and it’s better if I don’t see it. We had a close casket during his funeral. I didn’t fight with the general because I wanted to defend myself, I fought with him because I wanted him to accept that it was his fault and his brother’s fault why my brother’s case was never solved.” Y/n blurted out, fighting back her tears. 

“Y/n,” Mr. Sim mumbled quietly as he looked at her surprised. “Okay, I’m dismissing everyone, Ms. Y/n please stay.” He added. 

Waiting for everyone to leave the room, Y/n stood there quietly. 

“What do you know?” Mr. Sim asked quietly. 

“Everything Mr. Sim, everything.” Y/n responded. 

“Since when?” Mr. Sim asked. 

“Since one month after my brother’s death and I know his remains are missing because I got it dug out a year ago and it’s fucking empty, there’s no bones, nothing.” Y/n responded.

“Why didn’t you tell us sooner, you know I could’ve done something, Mr. Kim, I’m close to him, he’s superior to the general.” Mr. Sim stated.

“Sunoo’s father? He’s connected to Lee’s, he’s gonna get me killed if he ever finds out about it,” Y/n replied to him.

“What?” Mr. Sim asked, shocked. 

“You told him about my theory,” Y/n said, looking at him with tears in her eyes. “And now you know about it, you have to keep your mouth shut if you want to live.” she added as she turned her heels to leave, but stopped. 

“Mr. Sim, did you know how I felt when I was told that he’s gone? That my only family is gone.” Y/n spoke.

“Dad,” Jake said, entering the room as Y/n walked away. 

“I’m sorry,” Mr. Sim apologized as he saw how worried Jake looked when he saw Y/n.

The car drive was silent, as no one decided to speak one word after what happened. Jake focused his eyes on the road but looks at Y/n every 5 minutes to make sure she’s fine. 

“I got my brother’s grave excavated last year.” Y/n spoke, breaking the silence between her and Jake.

“What did you say?” Jake asked, taking a left turn to park his car in an empty alley. 

“You know, when I was told that I can’t see his dead body I trusted their words, and turned blind eye. Then I found the box a month later, and that’s when I started having doubts. I submitted in court that I want his grave excavated but for some reasons it keeps getting denied, it’s like the government is trying to hide something from me. But then last year when I got it excavated, I bribed the judge with a large sum of money and I got a response by the next 24 hours. His coffin’s empty. There’s no remains, not even one bone to prove we buried someone.” Y/n informed him. 

“What are you insinuating?” Jake asked.

“I don’t think my brother died that night. I know it sounds crazy, but my gut is telling me something’s not right.” Y/n responded, looking at him. “JAKE!” Y/n screamed seeing a car stopped beside them and men with rifles came out, before he could react they started shooting, making him hug her.

“FUCK! GET OUT OF THE CAR!” Jake exclaimed, feeling a bullet hit him in his shoulder as he helped Y/n open the car door, before starting to shoot at them. 

“JAKE!” Y/n yelled in fear, as she pulled him to help him get out of the car. 

“FUCK WAY TOO MANY! RUN Y/N!” Jake yelled at her.

“NO, I’M NOT LEAVING YOU!” Y/n yelled back, pulling out her gun from her holster as she started shooting at them, helping him. 

Y/n and Jake shot all of them dead. 

“Jake, you’re bleeding,” Y/n uttered, grabbing a clean cloth from the car as she made him sit on the floor, pressing the clean cloth on his wounded shoulder. Jake wrapped his right arm on her waist to pull her closer to him, hugging her tight as she cried on his chest.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone hurt you,” Jake whispered in her ear, pecking her forehead. 

“What the fuck happened!?” Sunghoon asked loudly as he came out of his car. 

“We got attacked,” Jake responded, as Sunghoon helped them both up.

“By who?” Sunghoon asked, guiding both of them to his car. 

“Could be Eunyeok,” Y/n responded, getting inside the car with Jake, her hands still pressed on his wounded shoulder as Sunghoon drove away from the scene.

Y/n and Sunghoon waited outside the OR as they waited for the surgeons to remove the bullet from his shoulder. 

“What the fuck happened!?” Jungwon asked, running towards them with Sunoo and Heeseung running behind him.

“We came as soon as we heard, they’re currently identifying the bodies of your attackers and gladly there's CCTV in the area.” Heeseung informed them.

“Thank you, chief.” Y/n spoke, her first time respecting Heeseung. 

“Well that’s the first time,” Sunoo said quietly, earning a playful smack from Sunghoon. 

As Heeseung was about to say something, the doctors came out of the OR and Sunghoon ran up to them.

“How is he?” Sunghoon asked. 

“Don’t worry, he’s fine now and he’s stable. You can meet him. Now if you’ll excuse me.” The doctor responded, smiling at them as he took his leave, while Y/n stared at his back as he walked away from there.

“Y/n, come on let’s go.” Sunghoon said, pulling her with him inside Sunghoon’s private ward. 

As they entered the ward, they found him already up and Y/n can’t help but run his arms. 

“Oh god, baby, it’s okay now.” Jake whispered in her ear, as she hugged him really tight as if he's gonna disappear at any second. 

“Damn, I thought you were gonna die, and I’ll have to deal with her ass.” Sunghoon said, as he fist bumped Jake who’s smiling at them. 

“I can’t leave her yet, and no you can’t deal with her ass, I won’t let it happen this ass is mine.” Jake responded, as his hands traveled in her ass, squeezing it, earning a disgusted look from them as Y/n smacked him playfully. 

“You’re so fucking dirty.” Jungwon said, looking at him with a disgusted face. 

As they all laugh together seeing Jungwon’s bewildered face from what Jake did.

“Y/n sit down, let’s talk a little,” Sunghoon said, helping Jake sit her down on the sofa. “We don’t even have water here,” he whispered. 

“Y/n, we know you’re mad about Jay’s death, but you’ve got to tell us about what you know, and how do you know it, Jay never told you anything about it,” Jake said, passing looks with Sunghoon, as he held her hand to calm her down. 

“Everything.” Y/n responded, making Sunghoon and Jake exchange looks. “I know everything, from where it started, why it started, why he was killed and who killed him,” she added.

“How do you know about it?” Jake asked, confused, Jay never mentioned to them that he told her about it.

“Jay left me a box on my birthday, under my bed, I never paid attention to it, not until one month after his death.” Y/n disclosed a secret she had kept for 3 years.

“Where’s the box? Do you have it?” Jake asked.

“It’s in my brother’s car.” Y/n responded.

“Can I get it, so we can take a look at it?” Sunghoon asked and Y/n nodded her head as an answer. 

Sunghoon got up from his seat, and went outside to get the box.

“What’s inside the box Y/n?” Jake asked.

“Files, a lot of files, not just cases but everything about Lee and his enemy and why he was sent to work there,” Y/n informed him.

Sunghoon came inside the house carrying a white box. 

“Jay spied on Lee’s enemy, it was Sunghoon’s father,” Y/n blurted out.

“What? My father is a drug dealer, he's not some sort of group that will fight Lee,” Sunghoon argued, setting the box down in front of them.

“Lee is a drug dealer however it was so difficult for him to smuggle those drugs because of your father, he has more access, more connections and definitely more money than Lee, I know it wasn’t an accident, Jay was killed in your property, that’s why you killed your father, he killed your friend.” Y/n disclosed to them.

“Y/n it doesn’t make any sense,” Jake said.

“It does, Lee and Park used to hangout but Lee became a police, a chief and he found out about Park’s work and to shut him up he paid Lee millions and taught him how to smuggle drugs, that’s why Sunghoon never got along with Heeseung, because Heeseung’s brother is Eunyeok.” Y/n told them, leaving them with wide eyes.

“Y/n look at me, tell me what else do you know, tell me, because Lee is a big wall, you’ll get yourself killed,” Jake told her, holding both her cheeks with his hands, making her look at him with teary eyes.

“I know how they took my brother’s body that’s why the casket was closed during his funeral, and I know he’s not dead, when the police couldn’t find his body they told me he was severely burned in the car accident but you never mentioned that it was car accident, you said he was shot that’s why I know Jay’s body wasn’t there when we held the funeral, I know everything and I want to find my brother, if he’s dead I want to find his remains,” Y/n said, tears cascading on her cheeks.

Jake held Y/n close to him, calming her down, he didn’t know about anything, she suffered a lot, alone.

“We’ll help you, but now let’s head home, hmm, it’s not safe here,” Jake said, still holding her.

“I want to stay here,” Y/n uttered softly.

“Please,” Y/n cut Jake’s words, earning a sigh from him.

Everyone gathered inside the meeting room, everyone exchanging looks with each other, confused on why everyone is gathered in the meeting room, rookies, officers and detectives from the crime department. 

“What happened?” Jungwon asked Sunoo, his new friend, also a rookie. 

“I heard that the evidence went missing from the lab, like someone took it so they can’t do any tests on it,” Sunoo whispered, loud enough for Jungwon to hear. 

The chief and general entered the meeting room, everyone silent, looking down on their laps, avoiding eye contact from the general, except one person in the room, Y/n. 

“Park Y/n you’re looking at me, since you’re so smart what do you think is the problem here?” Eunyeok asked, staring back at her.

“Don’t say anything stupid,” Jake whispered in her ears. 

“I don’t know, you tell us, you’re the one who called for a meeting, not me,” Y/n responded, everyone in the room trying not to laugh at her boldness. 

“Y/n,” Jake whispered, making Y/n look at him with what do you want to look, Jake just widened his eyes at her, stopping her from talking any further.

Heeseung cleared his throat to break the tension in the room before it escalated any further. 

“As you all know, our department is working on the serial killer case, it was transferred to us and we have one year to solve it, if we don’t solve it in a year, they’re gonna transfer it to another department, however if we solve it, they’re gonna honor us.” Heeseung started. “We recently obtained our first evidence, it was a pocket knife, but it was stolen and the cctv camera wasn’t working at the time it happened, so everyone is gathered here so I can inform each one of you that if you have seen something strange yesterday tell us immediately,” he added. 

Y/n chuckled at the statement. 

“Why only us?” Y/n asked, standing from her seat. 

“Excuse me?” Heeseung responded.

“Why don’t you gather the people from the lab, aren’t they the one that has access to that room? And you and general, you’re the only people that have access there.” Y/n stated.

“Are you accusing us of stealing it?” Eunyeok asked, standing up from his seat. “Come here Ms. Y/n,” he added.

Y/n chuckled, starting to approach him while Jake was stopping her. As she approached him, he grabbed her by her collar. 

“How dare you accuse us, you little cunt,” Eunyeok said as he tightened his grip on her collar, but she only looked at him with a big smirk on her face.

“I’m not accusing you, I’m just stating facts, remember you’re the same person that let rich criminals get out of their own crimes, so I don’t know maybe you’re covering for someone,” Y/n replied. 

A gasp erupted in the room when Eunyeok hit Y/n on her face making her fall down, as he grabbed her by her collar again attempting to hit her again, but was pushed by Jake. 

“What the fuck is wrong with you!?” Jake yelled at him as he pulled Y/n closer to him with Sunghoon and Heeseung stepping in front of them as a barrier.

“I want your rookie out of this case!” Eunyeok ordered. 

“Why!? Are you that fucking scared that I’ll reveal everything!?” Y/n yelled back as Eunyeok tried to grab her again just to be stopped by Heeseung. 

“You fucking cunt! How dare you accuse me of something!?” Eunyeok yelled back at her.

“Jake, Sunghoon, take her out of here!” Heeseung yelled, still trying to pin her brother down while getting help from the other officers. 

“You fucking cunt! Watch me ruin you!” Eunyeok yelled.

Sunghoon and Jake pulled Y/n out of the room with Jungwon following behind them.

“Are you okay?” Jake asked as soon as they got out of that room, holding her cheeks with both his hands.

“I told you not to dig deeper,” Jungwon said, making Sunghoon and Jake look at him.

“What do you know?” Sunghoon asked with wide eyes.

“All that she knows,” Jungwon responded, making Jake and Sunghoon look at him in shock.

“That fucking cunt, how dare she!” Eunyeok exclaimed, entering his mansion with Heeseung following behind him.

“She’s not wrong though,” Heeseung asserted, making Eunyeok look at him with rage in his eyes.

“What did you say?” Eunyeok asked, but Heeseung only shook his head, turning away from his brother. “I fucking asked you!?” Eunyeok yelled, grabbing Heeseung by his collar.

“She was right about everything, she’s stating facts and you got mad at her for no reason and you hit a female rookie,” Heeseung replied.

“She’s accusing me of something,” Eunyeok told him.

“She’s not accusing you or anyone, she’s suggesting you meet those people that have access to the lab during that time.” Heeseung argued.

Eunyeok let Heeseung go as he pushed him out of his way to go inside his office as Heeseung followed him.

“We have to kill her,” Eunyeok said, pouring himself a glass of wine.

“You can’t do that,” Heeseung told him.

“Listen to me Heeseung, if we don’t kill her, she’s gonna expose everything and we’re gonna lose everything,” Eunyeok explained, taking a sip of his wine.

“Do whatever you want but I’m not gonna help you with anything,” Heeseung declared before leaving Eunyeok alone.

“Find me information about that Park Y/n,” Eunyeok said, entering his newly built mansion from the money he got from the drug dealings. 

“Yes sir.” His assistant said, watching him go inside his office. 

As Eunyeok went inside his office he found his brother, waiting for him. 

“Oh Lee Heeseung, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen you here.” Eunyeok said, greeting his brother. 

“Leave Jay’s little sister out of it.” Heeseung said, not wasting any time.

“Why not, it’ll be fun, besides we need someone to spy again.” Eunyeok replied, pouring whiskey on his glass. 

“Not her, she’s just 21, she’s basically still a little girl.” Heeseung argued. 

“Oh baby brother, not the girl, Jake.” Eunyeok replied back, offering a glass of whiskey to Heeseung to which he declined. 

“I don’t drink whiskey, and what do you want Jake for,” Heeseung replied. 

“To spy, I can use Y/n to make him say yes,” Eunyeok responded, taking a sip of his Macallan 1926 whiskey.

“You think Jake will say yes, if you threaten him with Y/n?” Heeseung asked, confused.

“Don’t you see it? The way he looks at her, the way he’s protecting her and the way he took her as his rookie after declining offers for 3 years just because he saw her.” Eunyeok said, smirking.

“Whatever it is that you’re thinking, you’re wrong, he must’ve promised Jay something,” Heeseung argued. “And besides, how will you threaten him? He knows a lot of things, he can threaten you back.” He added. 

Eunyeok chuckled, putting down his glass of whisky on his work desk. “Heeseung, I’m the general of our department for some reasons, and how will I threaten him? I’ll put his rookie in our prosti circle and threaten to sell her to our dealers.” He replied.

“You’re fucking crazy, and ours? It’s yours, I don’t want any of your dirty money.” Heeseung argued.

“You might be forgetting something, I made you into a chief, you should be thankful.” Eunyeok said. 

“You know what, I'd rather kiss someone’s ass than be the chief of that stupid paid department, no wonder we can’t solve that serial killer case.” Heeseung argued back as he slammed the door shut, going out of his office.

It’s 3am yet Jake’s mind is still alive. He tossed and turned, but sleepiness is just not taking over him. Jake sighed, facing Y/n’s side. Smiling as he saw her sleeping peacefully, mouth a little open, soft snores coming out of it. Removing strands of her hair from her face, he observed her sleep peacefully. 

“I’m sorry I couldn’t save your brother.” Jake whispered silently, making sure he didn't wake her up. “I told him I’ll protect you once he accepts the job.” He added. “I should’ve told him I’ll pay for it, instead of assuring him I’ll protect you.” Jake sighed, pulling Y/n closer towards him. “You know, when you were like 5 years old, I saw you cry because Jay isn’t going to the same school as you and to make you stop crying he told you he’s getting you a plushie.” Jake said quietly. “After senior highschool, I thought we were going in the same university, but instead he wanted to take care of you, his little princess, I moved out, far from him and years later we met again, and he told me that you get sick easily, he needed money for your school, and later he told me you’re really sick and needed money for your surgery and I told him to take the job, I wished I never told him that, I felt like I failed as his trainer, I let him take the dangerous job and I wished I didn’t, I wished I told him I’ll cover the surgery and be with you.” Jake recalled. 

Jake put his arms around her and pulled her closer to his chest to hug her. “I’m sorry,” Jake whispered, apologizing, kissing the crown of her head as he remembered how much Jay had cared for her. Soon tiredness took over him and he fell asleep, hugging her tightly.

Jake woke up early in the morning as he heard his alarm ringing, looking beside him, Y/n’s in the same position as last night. Turning off his alarm, he tried removing Y/n’s arms around his waist, making Y/n groan in her sleep as she kept mumbling something. Jake listened to her carefully as he tried putting his ear near her, it broke him as he heard her clearly. 

“Jay, don’t leave.” Y/n mumbled. 

“Hey little one, wake up.” Jake said, shaking her to wake her up. But she just kept mumbling for Jay not to leave her. Jake controlled his tears that’s threatening to fall, he stayed like that until he heard her snoring softly again. 

Getting up from the bed, he grabbed clothes from his closet before going inside the bathroom. 

Y/n woke up, hearing the shower running from the bathroom. Sitting up. She dreamt of Jay again, covering her face with her hands as she tried not to cry. She stayed in that position until the bathroom door lock clicked, and Jake came out of the shower. 

“Goodmorning, little one.” Jake greeted, smiling at her.

“Goodmorning,” Y/n said, getting up from the bed, to grab her towel. And as she’s about to grab her clothes, she glances at Jake’s shirt from the closet. 

“You can take any of my shirts, if that makes you feel comfortable and come to the kitchen right after you freshen up I have to ask you something.” Jake said, ruffling her hair before coming out of the room.

Jake went to the kitchen and saw Sunghoon making breakfast. 

“Who told you to move around?” Jake asked. 

“Goodmorning to you too, I’m making breakfast, your fridge is full.” Sunghoon replied, smiling.

“Take a seat, I’ll do it, you’re in pain.” Jake told him.

“No, I’m not in - ouch, what the fuck was that for!” Sunghoon retorted, looking at Jake with wide eyes.

“See you’re in pain, now sit your ass down before I poke it harder.” Jake warned Sunghoon.

“It’s been awhile since I saw your fridge full and there’s a lot of apple juice.” Sunghoon said, taking a seat as he drank his coffee.

“Yeah, Y/n insisted.” Jake replied. 

“Have you thought about what I told you last night?” Sunghoon asked. 

“What did you tell him last night?” Y/n asked as she came out of the room, drying her hair.

“Oh maybe you can drive or maybe you want a place for yourself.” Sunghoon replied, looking at Jake teasingly.

“I can drive, but a place for myself? No thank you.” Y/n replied. 

“Great, you can take my Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG,” Sunghoon responded, taking another sip of his coffee. 

“I don’t think that’s a great idea.” Jake said, interrupting the two as he handed Y/n a glass of her apple juice. 

“That’s actually a great idea.” Y/n said, nodding her head.

“See she likes it,” Sunghoon said, still teasing Jake.

“The car is way too big for her.” Jake said.

“Are you saying I’m small?” Y/n asked, glaring at Jake.

“No, it’s just that,” Jake replied, trying to think of an excuse.

Sunghoon chuckled. “Don’t worry Jake it’s not my car, it was actually Jay’s,” he said, saying the last sentence as quietly as possible. 

“Then I want it.” Y/n said, looking at Jake.

“Fine, just don’t drive recklessly.” Jake replied.

“Thank you thank you thank you!” Y/n exclaimed happily as she jumped on Jake hugging him happily. 

“You know I’m still here,” Sunghoon said, reminding them that he’s also there.

As Jake leaves for work, Sunghoon takes Y/n with him, so she can take Jay’s car.

“What happened to you last night?” Y/n asked, breaking the ice between her and Sunghoon.

“Nothing, I got into a fight,” Sunghoon replied, focusing his eyes on the road.

“Doesn’t seem like a fight if you got a big cut on your stomach,” Y/n affirmed, looking at Sunghoon who’s only focused on driving.

“It’s really just a fight.” Sunghoon argued. 

“What was it that you dropped?” Y/n asked, making Sunghoon divert his attention to her.

“What?” Sunghoon asked, confused.

“Last night, I heard it, before I closed the office door.” Y/n informed him. 

“It’s nothing,” Sunghoon replied. 

“Jake said, you’ll get it back.” Y/n argued. 

Sunghoon didn’t reply or argue any further as he continued driving. 

Arriving at his place, the gate opened automatically. 

“You’re rich.” Y/n said.

“I’m not, my father is.” Sunghoon asserted. 

“But it’s your place.” Y/n argued.

“Yeah, but I don’t stay here, not anymore. Too big to live alone here.” Sunghoon said.

Sunghoon guided Y/n inside. It’s a big mansion, marble tiles, white and gray tone walls, leather sofa and family portraits could be seen. 

“I can see myself living here.” Y/n said, smiling brightly.

“I would’ve offered you this place, but I know Jake isn’t gonna let it happen.” Sunghoon responded, looking at her.

“Why not?” Y/n asked. 

“Cause you put yourself in Lee’s radar, now follow me.” Sunghoon told her, walking towards the car garage with Y/n following behind him.

“Who is Lee?” Y/n asked.

“It’s better you know less, don’t dig your grave deeper than it already is, Jake will do anything to protect you, if he has to catch a bullet for you, he’ll do it no hesitation, I don’t want to lose my friend so you better stop asking about him, just focus on the case.” Sunghoon told her.

As they reached the car garage, there’s a lot of car models, ferrari, BMW, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Jeep, Chevrolet, Tesla, Porsche and more, including her brother’s Mercedes-Benz. 

“Where did you get all this?” Y/n asked.

“They’re not mine, it’s my deceased father’s cars, he got it from his drug dealings, he’s an ass, dirty money, that’s why I don’t like this place, the only reason I stayed here was because of your brother, he stayed here during the time he had to take that dangerous job.” Sunghoon responded, looking at her.

“Where’s his car?” Y/n asked.

“It’s that one,” Sunghoon informed her, pointing at the Mercedes-Benz. 

Y/n went near it, touching the car, she never remembered getting in this car, not even once, she never saw him drive it. 

“I know Jake will get mad at me for this, but I can give you the last files Jay worked with, if you’re really curious about it, and Jay left a lot of his clothes here, do you want it?” Sunghoon asked, approaching her. 

“I want all of it,” Y/n responded, as she continued to look at the car. 

“Just tell me if you want a place to yourself, I can get it, I can get the keys to your brother’s house.” Sunghoon said, making Y/n divert her attention to him.

“He doesn’t own a house,” Y/n said.

“He does, the keys are in his drawer. I can get it for you, and give you the directions, just tell me.” Sunghoon replied.

“I want everything that my brother used to own.” Y/n stated, looking at his eyes.

CHAPTER 5

Jake arrived at their department and everyone greeted him with a smile and he did the same thing. 

“Good morning Mr. Sim, is Y/n not coming?” Jungwon said, greeting Jake.

“Don’t be so formal, you can call me Jake, and Y/n might not come today.” Jake responded, smiling at him. A smile they haven’t seen in 3 years.

“Oh why?” Jungwon asked.

“She just has to work on something,” Jake responded. “Anyways I have a meeting to attend, if you’ll excuse me.” He added, before going inside the meeting office.

As soon as he entered he was greeted with Eunyeok’s smug grin, a smug grin he wished he could snatch away from his face.

“Ms. Y/n isn’t here today,” Eunyeok said, looking around.

“She’s not coming, I gave her work to do.” Jake responded, coldly. 

“Yeah, what type of work?” Eunyeok asked.

“That’s none of your business, now can we get to the meeting? I have important work to do after this.” Jake said, irritated. 

“Okay, so a new dead body was found this morning, at a park, and we have a weapon.” Eunyeok said, chuckling. “That serial killer finally made a mistake, Heeseung, send this to the lab,” Eunyeok said as he handed the weapon to Heeseung. 

“So where are we?” Eunyeok asked, as the meeting continued about the serial killer. “So any questions?” Eunyeok asked before ending their meeting. 

“So Y/n was right, wasn’t she,” Jake said, looking at him. 

Eunyeok chuckled, and said, “So?” 

“Apologize,” Jake said, standing up from his seat to take his leave.

“Y/n? What are you doing here?” Jungwon asked, seeing Y/n entering their department building. 

“Oh, I just forgot some stuff and I have to print documents,” Y/n responded.

“Y/n?” Jake asked, surprised to see Y/n.

“Hey, I have to grab my laptop and I have to print out some documents.” Y/n said, before she gets interrogated by him.

“Oh Ms. Y/n you’re here!” Eunyeok exclaimed as he saw her after coming out of the meeting office. “You were right! You’re as brilliant as your brother, why don’t you come with me and we can have a talk,” Eunyeok added. 

Y/n smiled, that soon turned into a glare, “Why? So you can get me killed or so you can put me in your prosti circle?” She asserted, approaching him slowly. His smile faded. “Don’t fucking play with me you dirty general, I’m not a weak girl, so how about instead of sending someone to tail me around, work on your case and maybe you can solve the serial killer case.” She added, Jake holding her back. 

“You know nothing you cunt,” Eunyeok said, glaring at her.

“I know a lot, that’s why your assistant is in the hospital for trying to break inside Sunghoon’s mansion.” Y/n said, shaking Jake’s grip on her arms before leaving them there speechless. 

Jake followed Y/n, “Y/N!” Jake called out. Stopping and turning around, she faced him, “I’ll make sure Sunghoon gets back what’s his.” Y/n said only loud enough for him to hear. 

Y/n left Jake speechless, as he stood there frozen. His fist clenched, what did Sunghoon tell her? 

Y/n drove back to Sunghoon’s mansion as soon as she got what she needed. Entering the mansion she saw Sunghoon cleaning the mess from earlier. 

“What are you doing here?” Sunghoon asked, confused as to why she’s back there and how she remembered the directions.

Y/n threw the evidence in front of him, the evidence she stole from their department lab. Sunghoon’s eyes widened, looking at her shock.

“I don’t know what you’re up to, but whatever it is, stop it, that’s the thing you dropped.” Y/n said, turning around to take her leave. 

Y/n started the car engine as she started driving again, towards her brother’s house.

Jake stormed inside Sunghoon’s place, slamming the door open and slamming it close, startling Sunghoon who’s still cleaning the mess. 

“What the fuck happened?” Sunghoon asked, shocked to see a very mad Jake.

Jake grabbed Sunghoon by his collar and asked, “what the fuck did you tell Y/n?”

“Calm the fuck down, I didn’t tell her anything,” Sunghoon replied to Jake calmly, as he tried removing his tight grip on his collar.

“She fucking knows about Lee, more than she’s supposed to know.” Jake argued, finally letting him go.

“What?” Sunghoon asked.

“She knows about him, more than she’s supposed to, she knows everything.” Jake said.

“She was here, she knows about what happened the other night,” Sunghoon informed Jake.

“She was the one who opened the door, of course she knows about it,” Jake replied.

“No, she knows about my knife, she fucking stole it from the lab,” Sunghoon said, Jake looking at him with wide eyes.

“What do you mean?” Jake asked.

Sunghoon showed Jake the evidence Y/n had stolen from the lab, a pocket knife inside a plastic bag. 

“Goddamit, now where is she,” Jake said, ruffling his hair in frustration. 

“She’s on her way to Jay’s house,” Sunghoon replied.

“Jay doesn’t own a house,” Jake replied, looking at Sunghoon confused.

“He does, it’s somewhere far here, inside a garden, he left me the keys, and I gave it to her,” Sunghoon informed him.

Jake sighed, massaging his temple. 

“This is why she doesn’t need a car,” Jake said. “Now tell me about the assistant,” Jake said.

“Oh, Lee’s assistant, he's in the hospital, Y/n broke both his arms and maybe his nose,” Sunghoon said calmly.

“Say what now?” Jake asked him with wide eyes.

“Yeah, she almost killed him, she’s a tough one, like Jay,” Sunghoon claimed.

Lee slammed his office door open, seeing a file on his desk, he went to get it and read it. 

“Goddammit!” Lee exclaimed as he threw the file on the floor.

“Park Y/n who the fuck are you?” Lee asked himself, as he poured himself some whiskey. 

“Sir,” 

“What the fuck happened to you?” Eunyeok asked his assistant, seeing him all bruised with broken arms.

“That little girl did it,” his assistant informed him, as Eunyeok looked at him with wide eyes.

“What do you mean a 21 yr old did this to you? Are you fucking lying to me!? She’s a fucking tiny girl! How will she do that to you!?” Eunyeok yelled, throwing his glass of whiskey on the floor. “And what the fuck are those files!? There’s nothing!” Eunyeok yelled. 

“Sir, there’s nothing to find about Y/n, that’s all, she was in highschool and she joined the academy after her brother’s death,” His assistant replied to him. “It looks like Jay had left her something that we don’t know, that’s why she knows a lot,” his assistant added. 

“That could be something, but how is she as strong as Jay,” Eunyeok said.

Y/n arrived at the place. It's a medium sized house in the middle of a garden. 

She unlocked the door, it’s a cozy home. Looking around she remembered about the time her brother asked her about her dream home.

“Princess, what's your dream home?” Jay asked as he cuddled Y/n closer to him.

“Hmmm, I want a cozy home.” Y/n replied enthusiastically, making Jay chuckled at her cute behavior. 

“Cozy home?” Jay asked, looking at her.

“Yeah, you know, not so big, but not small either, and the walls should be gray, the tiles blue, the couch beige and then there should be a nice kitchen, nice bedrooms, then on the walls family portraits, then I want a bathtub in the bathroom.” Y/n described, smiling at her brother.

Looking around the house, her tears pooling in her eyes as she realized that it’s the same description she gave her brother. 

Her tears streamed down her cheeks like a river as she saw a picture of him and her, taking the frame in her hands, she put it close to her chest as she sobbed, she remembers everything.

“It’s 8pm and your brother is still not here?” Her friend asked her.

“He must be busy,” Y/n replied sadly.

Y/n waited for her brother to come, it’s her 18th birthday. 12am when there’s a knock on her door. Y/n opened it happily, just to see Jake.

“Jake? Where’s Jay?” Y/n asked.

“Can I come in?” Jake asked, and Y/n nodded, letting Jake in.

“It’s my 18th birthday, but Jay is still not here, he told me he’ll be home by 6pm but he’s still not here,” Y/n uttered quietly.

“Happy birthday,” Jake greeted, smiling at her.

“It’s 12am,” Y/n said. “Where’s Jay though? Is he parking the car?” Y/n asked.

“Something happened during work,” Jake informed her, and she just looked at him, waiting for him to tell her what happened. “Jay was shot, during work,” Jake blurted out.

“But he’s fine right?” Y/n asked, it happened before, Jay survived during that time.

“Y/n, he was shot multiple times,” Jake said.

“Yeah, but he’s fine right?” Y/n asked, tears pooling in her eyes.

“I’m sorry Y/n, we rushed him to the hospital, but he didn’t make it, he’s gone.” Jake announced.

Tears streamed down her face, shaking her head, mumbling no’s. 

“Jay, I’m sorry,” Y/n said, hugging the frame closer to her chest as she continued to sob. 

“It’s not your fault, little one.” Jake said, hugging her from behind as he looked at Sunghoon.

“I’m gonna make them all pay for what they did,” Y/n stated.

“You’re an early bird.” Jake said, seeing Y/n cooking breakfast for them. 

“I’m not, I’m just thankful that you took me.” Y/n replied, serving him his plate full of food. Eggs, bacon, toast and potato fritter. “You know you need to go grocery shopping, your fridge is empty.” She added, taking a seat in front of him. 

“I don’t really cook,” Jake said. “Jay was the one who usually cooks for us,” he uttered quietly.

“Jay is a good cook, a great one. I don’t know why he chose this path, maybe if he didn’t he would still be by my side.” Y/n stated, eating the bacon she had cooked earlier.  “Tell me about my brother, when he was working with you.” Y/n said, looking up at him.

“Hmm, what can I say about him? Jay is a hardworking guy, he’s good at everything, he never rejected any job offers despite their dangers, he doesn’t care, if he’s receiving a nice amount of money he takes it, without any doubt, no second thoughts he takes it, that’s why everyone envies him, until now, the department just simply can’t find someone as good as him. Whenever someone asks him why he takes dangerous jobs, no questions asked, he’ll always tell them he wants to give you a nice life, that he wants you to have nice clothes, nice foods, nice places, everything.” Jake shared. 

“I told him I don’t want any of that.” Y/n replied to him, sighing. 

“When he was offered the job, the job that took his life, he told the chief he’s not taking it. He told him that if  he doesn’t come back to you, no one will take care of you, but that same day he found out you’re sick, you needed treatment for your surgery. I could’ve told him I’ll pay for your surgery expenses and hospital bills but instead I told him I’ll take care of you.” Jake added on his story.

“It’s not your fault, he would’ve taken it anyways, it was my fault, I got sick.” Y/n uttered quietly, finishing the last toast on her plate, as she took her empty plate on the sink, with Jake watching her.

Entering the office together, silent murmurs can be heard throughout the hallways, as the news of Jake taking a rookie spreaded like a virus, it was a big deal, as he never liked the idea of taking a rookie. 

“Why’d you never take a rookie?” Y/n asked, entering the elevator with Jake. “Are you nervous?” Y/n asked, seeing Jake being uneasy.

“Y/n, if they mention Jay, don’t react, if you react I don’t know what they’ll do. And to answer your question, your brother was my first rookie. After his death I told myself I’m not taking more rookies again.” Jake replied at Y/n.

Y/n followed behind Jake, who’s leading her to the meeting office to talk about the serial murder case that’s been happening for almost 3 years now. 

“Mr. Sim Jaeyun, it’s been awhile, and well what do we have here, a rookie after 3 years a rookie.” The leader of the investigation greeted them, as soon they entered the room.

“This is Y/n, she’s my rookie and she’ll be helping us with the case.” Jake said, looking at the man in front of him, who has been looking at him with a smug look on his face. 

“Well Y/n, I’m Lee Eunyeok, call me Mr. Lee or just simply Eunyeok.” He said, introducing himself to Y/n. 

“Shall we start?” A guy asked, as they all nodded in response. 

“I’m Park Sunghoon, Jake’s partner.” Sunghoon said, introducing himself to Y/n as he sat beside Jake.

“I’m Y/n, he didn’t mention he has a partner.” Y/n replied at him, grinning softly.

“Not that type of partner, little one.” Jake whispered in her ears. 

“I didn’t say anything.” Y/n whispered back.

“Okay, so latest murder happened a few nights ago, victim is 40 years old male, arrested for rape but charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence, no murder weapons were retrived  nor any fingerprints were detected.” Eunyeok said, showing everyone the slideshow to show them the stab wounds of the victim. “Our theory is that the serial killer used a kitchen knife to stab the victim,” he continued.

“That’s not a kitchen knife stab wound,” Y/n said, interrupting Eunyeok from speaking.

“Excuse me?” Eunyeok asked, while Jake signaled her not to say anything more. 

“That’s a pocket knife stab wound, you can see it from the tissue damage, it’s not a clean cut from a single stab of a kitchen knife, but a cut created by multiple stabs from a pocket knife.” Y/n explained.

“And who taught you that? Cause that doesn’t make sense, it’s bullshit.” Eunyeok said, chuckling as everyone in the room started laughing.

“That’s an absurd theory.” One of them said as they continued to laugh until they shut them off.

“Jay taught me about it.” Y/n said, making the laughter die down.

“Y/n, stop it.” Jake said, as he signaled her not to say anything more than that.

“You know Jay?” Eunyeok asked.

“Yeah, the officer you got killed 3 years ago. The job was offered to you but because it’s dangerous you offered it to my brother knowing he won’t decline the offer.” Y/n disclosed. 

“Let’s continue the meeting tomorrow, Y/n let’s go.” Jake said, but he was stopped.

“Why don’t you send her with Sunghoon, stay here for awhile,” Eunyeok said.

“That girl, that’s Jay’s sister?” Eunyeok asked.

“Yes, but please, leave her out of it, she doesn’t know everything.” Jake replied. 

“Well let’s hope that, because you know what will happen.” Eunyeok told him before leaving the room.

The car ride was silent, as Jake decided to buy some groceries with Y/n to ease his mind. 

“Sorry.” Y/n said, breaking the ice inside the moving car. “Please say something,” Y/n uttered again, as Jake didn’t respond. 

“I told you not to mention him.” Jake said through his gritted teeth.

“Can’t help it.” Y/n replied quietly.

“From now on you’re not going to the meetings, nor near the building, you’ll only go there to report your status.” Jake told her.

“Why?” Y/n asked.

“Because you got yourself in their radar, and now I have to keep you beside me at all times, because if not, you’ll end up like your brother.” Jake replied, parking his car near the grocery entrance. 

“He got my brother killed yet he’s standing there leading the investigation.” Y/n said before coming out of the car, as Jake sighed.

“Jay, give me strength, your sister is adorable when pissed off.” Jake whispered.

Jake followed Y/n inside the grocery, who’s now running like a little kid as soon as she got the shopping cart, making Jake chuckle at her. “No wonder your brother loves you so much,” Jake whispered. 

“Take any food you want,” Jake told Y/n, helping her push the cart. 

“Should I cook something for dinner?” Y/n asked, looking up at Jake. 

“Let’s just order take out.” Jake replied.

“What will I do at home?” Y/n suddenly asked.

“I’ll print you all copies of the cases from 3 years ago, and help us like that.” Jake responded, grabbing a pack of ramens to put on the cart.

“You know, I really like spicy ramen,” Y/n mentioned, seeing him only getting mild ramens.

“You do?” Jake asked.

“I love them.” Y/n replied with a little smile on her face.

Arriving at Jake’s place from the grocery, Y/n helped out to take all the groceries he bought for them inside the apartment.

“It’s been 3 years since I’ve bought this amount of groceries.” Jake said, as he struggled to carry all the foods they bought.

“I told you I can help carry them,” Y/n mumbled.

“Has Jay ever let you carry more than 1 grocery bag?” Jake asked, looking at Y/n as he finally set down the groceries down the kitchen table.

“No, he never let me carry one.” Y/n replied.

“Great, your brother will now have a reason to hunt me in my sleep.” Jake said, panting.

“Oh don’t be so dramatic,” Y/n replied, handing him a cold glass of water.

“Thank you.” Jake said.

During dinner they both ate the take out they bought at a korean restaurant on their way home. 

“Are these all the cases?” Y/n asked, as she skimmed all the printed cases Jake had printed her.

“No, there are more, but I have to grab them at my office, so stay put, I’ll be back, call me if there’s an emergency and don’t open the door unless it’s me.” Jake said as he grabbed his car keys to get all the remaining files printed from his office.

“Jake, would you mind buying some midnight snacks?” Y/n asked.

“We bought a lot of snacks,” Jake said.

“I forgot to take lays.” Y/n mumbled.

“I’ll get them on my way back here.” Jake said before going out. 

After Jake left to get the remaining files, Y/n started skimming on the files Jake had already printed.

First victim: Male, 30 years old arrested for murder, case dropped due to insufficient evidence. Stabbed 10 times on his chest and 3 times on his back. No murder weapons retrieved. No fingerprints recovered. Murder weapon: kitchen knife. 

“Are they dumb? That’s clearly not from a kitchen knife.” Y/n mumbled as she continued reading the first case of the serial killer. 

Second victim: Male, 25 years old arrested for sexual assault, case dropped due to insufficient evidence. Stabbed 10 times on his chest. No murder weapons and no fingerprints recovered. Murder weapon: kitchen knife.

“Why do they keep putting the kitchen knife when it’s not a kitchen knife,” Y/n mumbled, but her thoughts were interrupted when the bell rang. 

Forgetting what Jake had told her, she opened the door. 

CHAPTER 3

Y/n kept reading the files on the case they’re working on, there’s a lot of them, from the last 3 years they haven’t caught the killer, the murderer. The biggest question in Y/n’s mind is, what’s his/her motive of doing this. 

On all the case files, all of them end with a dead end. No murder weapons, no fingerprints, no clue, there’s nothing, the serial killer is very smart. 

“Will Jay be able to solve this if he’s still here?” Y/n quietly asked herself. 

Jay was once the best rookie, he can solve anything not even detectives can solve, he’s one of a kind. Jake was his mentor, however being the same age, they treated each other like brothers, they’re friends, Jake was just his senior for 2 years, he graduated earlier than him, he’s a smartass. Jay graduated later because of his sister. He wants his sister to be able to handle herself first before going to the university, but that changed when their parents died in a car crash. He needed money, he worked 3 jobs a day for a year until he decided to go inside the academy.

After 3 years of being in the academy he was finally sent to the police department of crime teams, Jake took him as his rookie. He never made a mistake during his rookie year, not even after. 

Jay was offered one of the dangerous jobs, spy a frat group by going inside, just for a year and receive 6 figures monthly, he wasn’t going to take it, but hearing the amount of money he took it, he can use it for his sister’s heart surgery, he accepted it, however he didn’t make it to his sister’s 18th birthday.

The doorbell kept ringing, making Y/n sigh in frustration. 

“Can’t you fucking wait?” Y/n asked, opening the door, Jake told her not to open it. “Shit!” Y/n exclaimed. “What the fuck happened to you!?” Y/n asked as she tried helping him up to get inside Jake’s apartment. Successfully helping him inside she flopped him down the sofa. 

“Wait there I’m calling Jake.” Y/n said, leaving injured Sunghoon in the living room. 

“Fucking answer Jake,” Y/n mumbled. “Goddammit!” Y/n exclaimed as she threw her phone on the bed. Going into the living room to check on Sunghoon.

“Hey, you up?” Y/n asked, shaking the guy in front of her, who just groaned. “At Least help me lift your shirt,” Y/n mumbled, trying to remove his shirt to see his injury. 

“Don’t,” Sunghoon mumbled, stopping her from removing his shirt.

“We have to treat it.” Y/n said sternly, fighting Sunghoon’s grip. 

“You don’t want to see it.” Sunghoon said weakly, coughing up blood.

“I’m calling the ambulance.” Y/n said, just to get stopped by him. “You’re gonna die.” Y/n said, panicking. 

“He won’t.” Jake said, slamming the door open. “Little one, grab me a towel and some water,” Jake said, sending Y/n away to check on Sunghoon’s wound. 

Y/n went inside Jake’s room to grab a towel, not forgetting to fill up a basin with water. 

“Oh my god!” Y/n exclaimed, turning around as she saw Sunghoon’s big injury on his stomach. 

Jake stood up from his position to grab the towel and water from Y/n and told her “I can manage little one. Go and keep reading the files, oh and that’s your midnight snack.”

“He’s gonna die if you don’t bring him to the hospital.” Y/n said.

“I won’t let it happen.” Jake said, trying to calm her down. 

Jake started cleaning his wounds, hearing grunts from Sunghoon he pressed harder on his wounds. 

“It fucking hurts.” Sunghoon groaned, opening his eyes glaring at Jake who’s already glaring back at him. 

“What the fuck happened?” Jake asked as he continued treating Sunghoon’s open wounds. 

“Nothing, but I made a mistake,” Sunghoon responded, groaning.

“What did you do?” Jake asked.

“I dropped my pocket knife.” Sunghoon replied quietly. 

“Don’t worry about it. We’ll get it tomorrow.” Jake replied to him quietly.

“What will you do about Y/n?” Sunghoon asked. 

“I don’t know.” Jake responded.

“She just dug her own grave.” Sunghoon replied back.

“She’s mad about her brother’s death, and she finally met the people who put her brother’s life on the line, and now he’s gone.” Jake said.

“You like her don’t you?” Sunghoon said teasingly. 

“Shut up.” Jake retorted, making Sunghoon chuckle.

“Remember when you told me a lot of stories about her when we met in the academy and years later you met her brother again,” Sunghoon reminded him.

“I did talk a lot about her.” Jake responded. “I can’t be with her, her brother will haunt me if I try dating her.” He added, making Sunghoon laugh who groaned in pain right after.

“You know you can’t keep her here, you should get her an apartment or something or maybe a car if she drives so she doesn’t die of boredness here, she can’t be reading files 24/7,” Sunghoon said.

“I’ll talk to her about it.” Jake said as he continued to treat his friend’s wound that just stopped bleeding.

Y/n continued reading the files for the next hour but her mind kept drifting to injured Sunghoon. Sighing, she decided to leave Jake’s office. 

She saw Jake cleaning the blood off the floor and Sunghoon sleeping on the couch. 

“He’s fine.” Jake announced, making Y/n sigh in relief.

“What happened to him?” Y/n asked as she sat on the floor to check on Sunghoon’s wound. 

“I don’t know little one, ask him tomorrow.” Jake replied. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.” Jake added, trying to lift her. 

“I can walk.” Y/n mumbled. 

“I’ll carry you.” Jake said as he successfully lifted her up, carrying her to his bedroom. 

Jake dropped Y/n on his bed before going inside his bathroom to clean himself up. Getting up from the bed, Y/n knocked on the bathroom’s door. 

“You need something?” Jake asked from the other side. 

“I also need to wash up.” Y/n replied, the door unlocking, revealing a topless Jake.

“Wash up here, I’ll wash up in the other bathroom.” Jake stated as he came out of the bathroom to let her wash up.

After washing up, Y/n flopped down on the bed to get some sleep. And after 10 minutes Jake opened his bedroom door to find Y/n fast asleep, making him chuckle.

“No wonder your brother loves you too much. Jay don’t worry, I’ll protect her no matter what.” Jake said quietly, pulling the blankets over Y/n’s body before he flopped himself beside her.

CHAPTER 1

“Why did you do it?” The judge asked, as he stared into them, rage filling his eyes as he remembered everything that had happened. It wouldn’t have happened if they convicted the right person but instead, they let him get away with it. 

“Wanna know why?” He asked, rage filling him from the inside, as everyone looked at him, waiting for him to answer. “The fucking justice system is fucked up.” He uttered, as his voice shook, her face popped up in his mind.

“Good morning everyone!” The chief greeted, as he entered the office with a cup of coffee in his right hand. 

“Chief, the rookies have arrived.” One of the police officers announced, approaching him. 

“We only have 5 rookies?” The chief asked, as he looked at his assistant chief in disbelief. 

“Apparently the accident a few years ago affected our unit, the police academy decided to send us only five of them.” His assistant replied to him, making the chief sighed, putting down his coffee on his desk. 

“That’s not our problem, chief.” The police officer whispered, loud enough for the chief to hear as he sighed for the second time. 

“What is it?” The chief asked. 

“That rookie over there, she’s assigned to Sim Jaeyun.” He responded. 

“Sim, he doesn’t take any rookies.” The chief uttered. 

“That’s the problem, no one wants to take her, because she’s a female and she’s very young.” He explained as the chief rubbed his temple, not expecting a problem first thing in the morning. 

“Send her inside my office.” The chief said, turning around as he grabbed his coffee from the desk.

“Goodmorning,” The female rookie greeted as she entered the chief’s office. 

“Goodmorning have a seat.” The chief instructed her. 

Taking a seat in front of him, she watched him carefully as he typed on his computer, waiting for him to ask her something. 

“I’m chief Lee, the chief of this police department,” Lee announced as she just looked at him, like he had said something wrong to her. He looked at her and asked, “what’s your name? And your age?”

“Y/n, Park Y/n, 21.” She replied, still looking at him. 

“You’re the youngest, and your name sounds very familiar.” Lee said as he continued typing on his computer. 

“Park Jongseong.” She uttered, as he stopped typing on his computer. “Now you’re interested, finally looking at me.” She added as she looked coldly into his eyes.

“How’d you know him?” Lee asked.

“Sim will take me, you don’t have to worry about him not taking me,” Y/n said, standing up from her seat. 

“How’d you know officer Park?” Lee asked again, as he held her arm, stopping her from leaving.

“That’s none of your concern Chief, your only concern here is if someone is taking me as a rookie to be trained.” Y/n retorted as she pulled her arm away from his grip, making him stare at her shock.

“I can’t believe you requested Mr. Detective to be your trainer.” Jungwon said, staring at her proudly. 

“But he doesn’t take rookies, if he says no, it’s gonna be your problem.” Officer Kim said. 

“He’s gonna take me.” Y/n uttered under her breaths, as they shook their heads. Just then yellings could be heard from outside their office unit. 

“I told you I don’t take rookies!” Jaeyun yelled as he slammed the door open of the department, startling everyone inside. He looked at everyone and said “whoever requested me to be their trainer, I won’t take you,” 

“Why won’t you take me?” Y/n asked as she stood up from her seat, everyone staring at her boldness. 

“Y/n,” he whispered, as he stared at her shock. He sighed and declared, “Fine, I’m taking her.”

“Told you he’s taking me.” Y/n said, as she continued eating her lunch. 

“He knows you.” Jungwon uttered, staring at her. 

“He’s been friends with my brother since childhood that’s why he knows me, he can’t resist me,” Y/n explained to Jungwon, who has been her friend since she went inside the academy. 

“That’s right,” Jaeyun said, taking a seat beside Y/n as Jungwon stared at him in shock. 

“Should I leave you two alone, so you both can have a conversation?” Jungwon asked Jaeyun, as he saw how he stared at her. 

“No, I’m just looking at her, making sure it’s really her.” Jaeyun replied, looking at Jungwon who avoided eye contact, making him chuckle at his cuteness. 

“Don’t look at him, he gets shy very easily.” Y/n said, taking a sip of his coffee.

“Hey, that’s mine.” Jaeyun said, as he tried taking his coffee from Y/n. 

“It’s mine now.” Y/n said, turning away from him, stopping him from taking the coffee away from her. “Oh, you’ll have to deal with the chief later.” Y/n added. 

“Why? What did you do?” He asked her, as she shrugged her shoulders as a response.

“She disrespected the chief.” Jungwon informed him, as he looked at Y/n in disbelief.

“So you decided to take her.” The chief said, as they entered his office. 

“Yeah.” He replied as he took a seat in front of him.

“She knows about officer Park.” Lee informed him, that didn’t even shock him. 

“Yeah so?” He responded.

“She’s a threat to our department if she knows about Jongseong.” Lee retorted to him. 

“Heeseung, she knows about him because that’s her brother,” Jaeyun informed him as he looked at him in shock. 

“What?” He asked, not believing what he’s hearing. 

“I’m taking her because I promised to take care of her before Jay accepted the job he was offered,” Jaeyun said. 

“So you’re taking her as a rookie to take care of her?” Heeseung asked him, not understanding anything.

“Jay and I had been friends since we were children and I’ve known Y/n since she was a little kid, she would do anything to find me, she’s an angel, Jay’s job was unsuccessful, she was mad, and she knows you were the one who offered him that job, so understand that she’s gonna be like that to you.” Jaeyun explained. “I need permission, permission to take her with me, I don’t want her to stay in any dorms here.” He added.

“Do whatever you want.” Heeseung replied.

“So you’re really taking me?” Y/n asked as she watched him pack her clothes in her luggage. “There’s only one room in your apartment.” Y/n uttered, laying down on her bed that made a squeaky sound. 

Jaeyun didn’t reply to her. Grabbing all her belongings, he helped him carry all her heavy stuff all the way to his car. 

“You have a nice car.” Y/n uttered quietly, as she watched him drive carefully. “I can call you Jake right?” Y/n asked. 

“Call me anything you want, little one.” Jake replied as he continued to focus his visions on the road. 

“I’m not a little one anymore.” Y/n said. 

“You do look like one.” Jake said, chuckling as he saw her pouting her lips like a little kid that didn’t get the toy they wanted from their parents. 

“Shut up.” Y/n replied as Jake just chuckled at her.

Arriving at his place, he showed her around his apartment. It has one big bedroom with a big mattress. Two bathrooms, one inside the bedroom and another one on the hallway near the kitchen. It has a dining area and kitchen and also a living room.

The whole apartment is painted with light gray paint except his bedroom that is painted with black paint. 

“Where am I sleeping?” Y/n asked.

“You can take the bed. I’ll take the living room.” Jake replied as he helped her unpacked her belongings.

“Or we can share the bed.” Y/n suggested, as she looked at Jake smiling widely.

“Whatever you want, little one.” Jake replied.

“Stop calling me that.” Y/n said.

“That’s your nickname, nickname I made for you.” Jake said.

They both lay down on the mattress, as they decided to sleep beside each other, like before. Staring at the ceiling, Y/n sighed. 

“I heard we’re taking the serial killer case.” Y/n said.

“Yeah, I’ll be in charge of it, and since you’re my rookie, you’ll have to work with me.” Jake responded.

“Jake.” Y/n called him, turning on his side as she stared at his perfect visuals.

“Hmmm” Jake hummed.

“Did you know that Jay used to call me princess?” Y/n asked.

“Everyone knows he calls his little sister his princess, Jay loves you very much and everyone knows that too, Heeseung knows that too.” Jake said, turning around to face Y/n.

“He left. Didn’t come back.” Y/n uttered quietly as she stared at him, waiting for an answer.

“You miss him?” He asked her.

“I miss my brother everyday,” Y/n replied, sighing. 

“I miss him too, he’s my best friend after all,” Jake said. “Don’t hate Heeseung, he didn’t mean to offer him the job.” Jake added.

“I hate no one, but I’m mad that he didn’t do anything nor anyone in that department to help him.” Y/n said, turning around, her back facing him.
