mvnalx:
just a couple more steps, and he’d finally be at the bottom. he could get his shit done and be rid of this heavy armload of— fuck.
one misstep made his elbow catch on the railing, and aléx lost control of his giant overstuffed laundry basket. closing his eyes, he took a deep breath as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “of course.”
finally, after composing himself, he began to pick his shit up and stick it back in its basket from where it was spread all over the laundromat floor. one more pair of jeans in the basket, and he looked up to find a sight he never expected; apparently everyone decided today was laundry day, because every machine was full. every. single. one. however, though this was his luck today, this would not be aléx’s fate. fuck it.
immediately, he clicked stop on the washing machine he saw with the longest wash time, and began unloading it to replace the wet clothes with his own dirty ones. getting every last garment in, he clicked start again, and stepped back, satisfied with himself. and he was very convinced he’d get away with it— that was, until he heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
Doing laundry was definitely one of Jasper’s least favourite chores. Cooking was great because you got to eat afterwards and with cleaning there was the satisfaction of seeing a clean space. But laundry? You have to wash your clothes, dry them, put them away and then it might take weeks or even months to wear that particular item of clothing again. Still you should wash it because you don’t know when you’re going to need it again. And there was the smell too, of course.
Admittedly it was also one of the times he missed the comfortableness of living with his parents. It’s a fact that clothes get dirtier way quicker when you have to do your own laundry and it suddenly doesn’t appear like you have infinite pairs of underwear when they don’t magically reappear in the closet.
The noise coming from his phone reminded Jasper that it was time to get his clothes out of the washing machine. When he saw that they weren’t in there anymore he was going to say thank you for taking some work off his shoulders. Except they were still wet.
“Uh, what were you planning on doing with my clothes?”
