Comic Life and Comic Life 2
Comic Life is for making home made comics out of pictures you took with your camera. You add your photos to the page templates and then add speech bubbles and text to give it a comic book like feel. There are 12+ different types of speech bubbles to give some dialog. You can customize almost any thing in your comic, by the time your done with your photos, it will look like a professional comic book.
The interface is a bit quirky, but it doesn't stop you from making your photos look great. Highly recommended.

Why would you want a mac?
Non Mac Person: why would I need a mac? They cost so much.
Tech Savvy Guy: Why would you want a mac? WHY WOULD YOU WANT A MAC? Mac's are the best computers on the planet.
Non Mac Person: Give me 3 good reasons.
Tech Savvy Guy: Well Mr. Smarty Pants, Macs are easy to use. Using a mac will save you trips to an IT. The interfacce is streamlined to make it easy to do things. Your problems will be resolved more easily, and your experience is all around more enjoyable. If you do encounter a problem, the phone support crew and in store employees are friendly and helpful. Ha! Top that! You don't get that from Microsoft!
Non Mac Person: So what? I'm an expert with my PC. I don't need a "streamlined interface"
Tech Savvy Guy: I wasn't done, thank you very much. In fact I was just getting started. See if you can counter this: The mac is faster and less buggy than your PC. Basically, macs are made to perform They come with a great amount of RAM and storage, along with a great processor. Most PCs are slower than slow! To get awesome performance like a mac, you've got to spend as much!
Non Mac Person: And your point? I don't need blazing fast performance from my machine.
Tech Savvy Guy: Macs are for everyone! While you are out buying another PC 'cause your old one broke, I'm at home enjoying my older mac. Macs are still reliable, fast, and up to date 5 years after their release. Unlike a cheap PC, your mac will stay with you, with out becoming unusably slow. So even if it does cost more, it will out live you without other one. See my point?
Non Mac Person: Nope. I haven't been listening.
Tech Savvy Guy: AHHHHHHH! You're hopeless!
A Rare Find
Yesterday I had a unique experience. I got my hands on a hp Touchpad running Android 4.0. For those of you who don't know the touch pad, it is hp's failed attempt to make a tablet. It's operating system was web os. The owner of the divice had unlocked the tablet and immediately installed an alpha version of android. What was wrong with Web Os? It wasn't polished, it lacked enough apps, and it had a rushed feel. When I tried out the Web Os side, I couldn't agree more.

If you've ever watched Downton Abbey and enjoyed it, you'll probably want to catch up on past episodes. Or maybe you enjoy NOVA programs, but never find the time to get the schedule. Well, good news: the PBS ios app is here to help. The app offers showtimes and full length episodes for all your favorite episodes. Titles include Antiques Roadshow, Masterpiece Classic, NOVA, PBS NewsHour, and many more. There are a total of 39 shows, with many of them offering full length episodes. Most also have shorts and previews. After entering your PBS station, you can see show times for your favorite shows. So next time you miss an episode of Downton, you can watch it the day after. Also available on iphone and ipod touch.
Macrumors gets a lot of apple reports, and if a fly moves on apple's website, they know. But heed my warning:
There is one thing you must learn about the Apple world: don't listen to the rumors. I've seen a lot of rummors, and you want to know about how may come into fruition? About 20%. It seems every day there's new speculation because someone thought they that apple was ordering this or researching that. Around this time there are even more because this time last year an iPad came out. That always happens when ever an apple product was released last year. If an apple event is announced, then you might start reading the rumors, not that any of them are true. Just never get your hopes up.
Make a Website Part 1
You may want to make a website, and may have tried all the free services out there.(I have too!) They are either too limiting, tiring, full of ads, or what ever, but you may be dissatisfied. Well, this tutorial is for you! Even you don't have a bee in your bonnet to have a site, it's a cool skill to have. So how are you going to make a site? The answer is simple! You'll learn Html! What's Html, you might ask. It stands for hyper text markup language. Sounds daunting, eh? Nope. In just a few short posts you'll be making great websites! So lets get started.
Step one: Set up.
The first thing you'll need is a simple text editor. For mac users, Text edit will work. On windows, Notepad is your man. If you are on mac, please read: you'll need to change your settings. In tet edit, click on the text edit part of your top bar, and select preferences. Next, under new document, make sure that Plain Text is selected under format. Then, under open and save, check off ignore rich text commands in html and Add .txt extension to plain text files. Now you are good to go!
Step two: Your first page
Open a new document. In it, We are going to type:

*Please note: Html in this tutorial will apear in bold italics. In your text editor, it shouldn't apear like this.
You see those lines? Those tell your computer "in between those two tags is html". Notice I said Tags. Tags are the building blocks of html. There are many different types of tags for signifying content. Do you also see the last tag has a / before it? That means it's the end of the tags. You got all that? Now lets add some content in there! Now make your document look like this:

<body>
</body>
</html>
Now notice the head and body tags. For you, the body is the most important. It's where every thing that's going to appear on your webpage goes. In the head, that's where meta and javascript go. (We'll get to that later.) Now why don't we put some words on your webpage. Now type this:

<p>This is normal paragraph text</p>
</body>
</html>
You are putting the paragraph tag in between the body tags so it will apear on our site. See how the text that you want to be displayed on the pages is in between its own set of tags signifying its type.(In this case, its paragraph text.) Any text that you want to apear must go in between some type of tag.
To display your masterpiece to the world, first you need to save it as a html document. To do this, go file → save as. Name it what you want, but the file extension must be html!
Example: name.html.
After saving, open it up in a web browser. You should see the text "This is normal paragraph text."

The Tablet Wars Newbie
If you are like me, you shop on amazon a lot. You buy other company's products through this site. So does it surprise you that it has started making computers? Yep, the newbie I'm talking about is the Kindle Fire. Kindle Fire is a lower class tablet, costing $200. Many technology blogs and websites have given it bad reviews, but I beg to differ. Sure it's not as cool or as powerful as an iPad, but it preforms basic tablet work: playing games, watching videos, reading books. Oh ya, it does that especially well. It doesn't look much different than any other tablet reading, but it has Amazon's great library to back it. The video isn't great quality, but it works. To bad there aren't many in the add store. Over all, for the short time I used it, I generally enjoyed my experience. It most certainly isn't as great as the iPad, but hey: it's a first attempt. Link to Amazon product page.
Indispensable Web Tools
If you are interested in making websites or other web content, or you already do, you might not be aware with all the great tools that can boost your experience. It can be incredibly easy (and inexpensive) to make great content. In my searches, I've found more than I can count. A series of posts will reveal these great tools to you.
GoogleDocs : you probably know GoogleDocs, but what you might not know about is the ability to create forums. There's a whole slew of question types and themes to make your forums really cool. You won't even need to know javascript to validate it! The results are automatically added to a spred sheet on your account.
TextWrangler : a free text editor for mac. It's great for developers looking for a simple way to edit simple code. It has support for many different languages(including plain english), and identifies the different elements of your code.
Codecademy.com : a cool new way to learn how to code. Some people (like yours truly) have always wanted to learn how to code, but have found videos and text dissatisfying. That's where Codecademy comes in. It's a free service to teach you how to code interactively. The exercises are friendly and fun, teaching you important fundamentals. Right now it only teaches javascript, but its horizons are broadening

iMovie '11
iMovie is just about the coolest consumer application apple has ever made. iMovie is a home-video editing application. It has a simple user interface that makes it easy to turn your baby videos into a Hollywood-like masterpiece. You may ask yourself, “Why would I need an application like this? I don’t edit videos.” Well, you’d be surprised. When I got this application, I did not know how to edit videos and no interest in learning how. But the minute I fired up the application, I was ready to leap out the door and make movies when I saw all of the cool transitions, effects, and titles one could use. The multitude of features will blow your mind. To give your movie a theme, just chose from one of the 7 built in themes. They are Photo Album, Bulletin Board, Comic Book, Scrapbook, Filmstrip, Newscast, and Sports. A theme has it’s own special titles and effects to make it look like a news broadcast or a sports game. Even if you don’t chose a theme, there are still a lot of other enhancements. There are four major enhancements, but the coolest in my mind are the titles. There are 32 basic titles, raging from lower bars to center titles with effects added on. The themes have other titles that aren’t on the basic menu. Another feature is a bit more nifty. Digital maps can make a world of a difference in a travel video. It adds a Indiana Jones-like map where a line traces between two chosen locations. There are 4 different types of maps to chose form, and you can use a map or a globe. There are also a lot of transitions, such as zoom and pan or fade. There are the old school photo like effects like septa and comic book, too. You can edit audio as well. The only thing that I don’t like about iMovie is that there isn’t too much customization with the titles. If you have a newer computer, iMovie will be bundled with your mac. Its available on the Mac App Store or at http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/ for $15.
