Whenever I think about Miraculous and want to try a rewrite because I feel like the power is imbalance... It feels like I need to rewrite the whole miraculous/magic lore for creation and destruction.
That's why I need to invent the "ladybug miraculous is bugged" (no pun intended), whenever I write something... Which end up become AU.
Things that make me pulling my hair whenever I think about ladybug wonky power :
CREATION IS NOT SUPPOSED TO REVIVE PEOPLE!
Yes, creation is tied to "life" but in the essence of "creating life", give birth! Not restoring what already claimed by death! If anything if the creation tried to "steal" something from death and try to restore it, it should end up being a zombie.
Because yes, restoring death people = zombie. There's just no another way possible.
"But Yue, it's a cartoon, it's a fiction" even a fiction still need to make senses in any way you know... There's still a rule that must be followed. You can't just create a character that can create a tree nilly willy out of thin air, unless your character is a God, and Ladybug isn't a Goddess. However...
CREATION CAN RESTORE A BODY (and building)! ...not the soul though.
That's why it become a zombie guuuuuyyss, it can recreate the body if it's destroyed, dismantled, etc. But once someone's dead, it's not just a matter of restoring their damaged body, but also a soul! If anything, ladybug power can probably recreating a body and create a new soul... But is that still the same person if that's the case? (Hmm... Why is this power sounds so familiar... :thonkang:)
CREATION SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO PURIFICATION
This is like... My second biggest "WHY???" since when creation can do purification? If anything creation just create... A bigger chaos????
Think of it like antibiotics. Antibiotics works by destroying the virus in order to cure you, that how it works in purification as well. But...
CREATION CAN HEAL!
By creating new cells! Human body is an aggregate of cells after all. Say you lost your arm in a battle, ladybug creation power can recreate your arm by creating new bones, muscle, nerves, blood vessels, etc, following the pattern of whatever your arm left. Healing wounds also works similarly by accelerating your body's natural regeneration by creating more cells.

Reviving people should only possible if :
Destruction is included in the process. Because creation and destruction combined can create a cycle of rebirth/resurrection.
Like, I know she's a creator's pet, so of course the creator want her to have awesome power but that power seems to be "stealing" from the other user without any reason and that's what make me irked. It's odd that the beta/concept version has more balanced power than the current one.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.
apparently according to people in x, if you don't support/disagree with something irl but don't mind it when it's fiction then you're fetishizing it. so by that logic if you hate abuse but you don't mind or even like adrienette then you're fetishizing abuse? if you hate rapist but don't mind or like reading story about it then you're fetishizing rape? how's that logic work actually? genuinely asking. idk if the math isn't mathing in my brain because english isn't my first language or because my brain keep saying fiction and reality are two different dimension and you shouldn't mixes it up.

Okay, so, like, what you're decribing is the result of people not understanding where the line between "fiction can influence reality" and "fiction doesn't change reality" goes. Like, media can reinforce existing biases if the one writing it has the same biases as you do. You believe something and watch a piece of media that depicts that thing as being the way you believe, so your belief is reinforced. Fiction can also invoke a sense of sympathy towards different groups by depicting them sympathetically.
But, like, that's not actually a HUGE impact. Not so that a single piece of media can be held under a microscope and claimed to have caused attitude X to be so prevalent. Or, god forbid, the dreaded "playing violent video games causes violent behavior" nonsense.
Like, when it comes to writing media, accidents happen more often than something being purposeful. That's why we need to look at patterns to clarify if something is part of a larger problem. Like, Miraculous repeatedly showcases the "violent urban thug" group as young people of color, so that's something that should be questioned. As should Miraculous repeatedly asking us to sympathize with child abusers over their child victims. Like, the writers don't realize they're including these things, which is why they deny it when it's pointed out, but it still HAPPENS, and the opposite happens never.
In addition, we need to take target audience into account. More questionable depictions of topics like rape and abuse are fully common and TO BE EXPECTED in media aimed at older audiences, because those pieces of works can expect their target audience to read the text with a degree of ANALYSIS. But, a piece of children's media like Miraculous always siding with child abusers, WHILE BEING AIMED AT CHILDREN, should raise eyebrows. Child audiences are not expected to analyze the pieces of work they read, because they often lack the experience to do so effectively.
That also plays a part in the whole "all media should be completely unquestionable and pure" discourse, the experience, or lack of, required to analyze a piece of media. A lot of audience members these days simply lack the ability to do so. Either they've always consumed pre-chewed media or they spend too much time asking ChatGPT what to think, but the end result is that they can't think critically, so we get people reading horror novels and then complaining on Twitter that it had incest in it.
TLDR; This kind of moralizing over media is slightly more appropriate when discussing media aimed at children. With media aimed at adults, we should expect the reader/viewer to be able to implement some critical thinking. Even so, blaming one piece of media for all of society's ills is not how this discourse works period.
Tbh I don't think I'll ever /not/ salty whenever I see someone said "Shinn only defeated Kira because of Minerva support" like, duh! It's a war, of course he would use any resource he can use to defeat his enemies, that's literally his job as a soldier??? He uses Impulse unique capability to the fullest and study his opponent before he fight him, that's him using his head.
Also it is noted that Freedom, despite being older MS generation, is still superior unit than Impulse. Shinn (also Rei) knows that, that's why Rei told Shinn to study Freedom's movement and habit, so he can make a strategy and plans to defeat him.
I thought people hate him because he's dumb dumb, but the moment he uses his head they call him cheating?? MAKE IT MAKE SENSES!! 😭😭
That also one of the reason why I hate athrun's post epilogue dialogue about how it's too early for Shinn to use Justice like... Dude!!!! Justice is literally calibrated for you, it's designed for you!! You can't just expect someone else to be instantly pro at using something that created for someone else!! Not everyone is born prodigy, not even a coordinator.
