Pairings: Roronoa zoro x GN!reader (use of they/them and you)
Summary: the moment you’ve arrived in the crew Zoro automatically saw you as a rival, you too would lift a lot and your muscly figure somehow made him even more dedicated to be better. He had never considered that he may like you. Until the crew aided the both of you

Today was the day you would go on a date with Zoro. Oh wait. FORCED DATE WITH ZORO!! You don’t know how you got here. The crew started acting weird and Nami got a reservation at a restaurant for the both of you. What the hell. You hated that out all the guys in the world it HAD to be Zoro the guy you used to challenge yourself, the guy for competitions. Let’s just get this over with.
You got ready for the day like always. The Sunny finally got to an island. You stepped out wet haired since you had taken a shower, cute clothes and a grumpy attitude
“Look who woke up on the wrong side of the bed!”
It was Luffy. As energetic as ever somehow even though it’s 8AM he’s always got a mouth to run
“Ugh. Yeah whatever whatever”
You walked into the kitchen where everyone was having breakfast. You say next to Robin and handed her book back.
“Thanks for letting me lend it”
You grumbled softly, Robin almost didn’t hear it
“No problem.”
She said smiling.
You took a plate with pancakes and slapped Luffy’s reach hand away. You took a bite and you mood got better! And then you remembered you had a ‘date’ with moss-head. Ugh.
After breakfast the crew got ready to get on the island. You packed your things and got off the ship. Walking toward the small village you notice a cat looking at you with big eyes. A black cat. This village call black cats demonic so they mostly die of hunger. You frown and search through your bag for a piece of meat and feed it to the cat. Zoro, of course noticed this and scoffed. Though he let a small smile before walking forward and somehow immediately getting lost.
“Fuck.”
Anyway. As the day passed, it was another adventure for the Strawhat crew. Right. The date. As the crew slept with the ship still docked. You dressed up. A black dress with cold accents. Gold earrings and necklace. You walked out and found Zoro waiting with a tuxedo on.
“You’re dressed nicely… surprisingly.”
You say teasing.
“Eat shit.”
“Not until you eat it first.”
You catch a little smile from him. You raise an eyebrow.
“Found my joke funny huh? I’d like to say i’m a pretty funny guy”
“You look like a guy that’s for sure”
“Hey!”
“Alright, let’s just go and get this over with.”
You both made it to the restaurant. It looked fancy. And expensive. Nami’s gonna owe you both.
“Reservation for Zoro.”
He told the host that was standing outside of the restaurant for reservations.
“How do you know it’s for Zoro?”
“Nami told me.”
“Ugh, right.”
You both walked in and sat at the tables. Behind your table was an aquarium, the restaurant as you could see had a giant built in aquarium next to the tables. It was simply divine. You couldn’t stop looking. The blue shade illuminating in your eyes. Zoro couldn’t halo but notice the way your eyes shined looking at the scene before you. You caught him staring and blushed slightly.
“Uh- i like it.”
Zoro looked away, though you could see the faint shade of red from his ears.
The waiter came with the menu and walked away. You looked through the options and decided on a marinera pasta while Zoro decided on a medium rare steak. Of course he did.
The water came and took your orders taling the menu and walking away.
“So.. now what?”
“Aren’t we supposed to know more about each other on a date?”
“You’re taking this seriously huh?”
You could a see a faint blush on his cheeks and you couldn’t help but smile.
“Whatever, i already know enough about you. You like alcohol, you love your katana’s, you train a lot and you hate our cook.”
“I don’t know you well enough.”
He’s right, nobody in the crew knows much about you. Because you never even bothered to tell them.
“Fait point. What do you wanna know?”
“What’s your favorite color?”
“What are we? In kindergarten what kind of question is that? .. it’s (fav color)”
“Favorite food?”
“Well, i like all kinds but i guess (fav food)”
“Hobby?”
“(Your hobby)”
“That’s all i gotta know”
“Really?”
“Yep. I already know the rest. Asshole, Lazy, weak, dumb”
“Yeah, alright moss head, once this date is done i’m leaving you behind. Good luck finding your way back to the sunny.”
He’s laughed at the joke. You felt a heat spread through your chest. What was that? You’ve never felt it before? Pride? No too warm for that, Anger? No too soft for that.. maybe.. just maybe, love?
“You’re blushing.”
“What? No i’m not.”
You reach for your cheeks and it was indeed warm.
“It’s hot in here anyway.”
“It’s a cold island.”
“Oh. Well then it’s the heaters.”
“Right”
He doesn’t sound too convinced.
Finally the food came. Talk about saved by the bell. The food smelled great and it tasted great too. After enjoying a nice meal the check came. The waiter placed it in the middle of the table. You looked at Zoro and Zoro looked at you.
“I’m paying.”
“Fat chance.”
“Good. My chance is fat.”
“Shut up. I’m paying.”
“Like hell you are.”
You both started bickering and the waiter stood between you two awkwardly.
Before Zoro could do anything you slammed the berries on the table. Zoro and the waiter looked stunned. A great move, just enough to shut the other person up and to pay with no discussion. You had won.
Finally you both walked out the restaurant feeling satisfied.
“Ready to go?”
“I want to check one more thing.”
“Of course you do.”
You grabbed his wrist and ran out of the village. You ran up a a tall hill and sat down. The hill gave a beautiful view of the endless Ocean. Shimmering beneath the moons glow. The soft cold breeze made your hair look as stunning as ever. The scene was beautiful. The air was left with silence. Not an awkward one but.. oddly comfortable.
“You know.. i enjoyed it tonight.”
“You did?”
“Yeah. Thought you’d be a jerk but maybe you’re better than i expected.”

Silence. You look over at Zoro did you say something wrong? No. You said something unusual. You noticed the red ears again. But this time they’re a darker shade. You smile and pinch his ear.
“I know you’re blushing”
“Shut up, i’m not”
“Excuses excuses”
Zoro finally looked at you. The red shad on his cheeks looked cute on him. You’d like to see more of him like that. You caught yourself blushing and smiling.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh nothing”
You looked up at the moon and so did he. It was quiet. But not too quiet. The subtle rustle of the leaves and waves of the Ocean. The wind blowing like a paid actor. Everything was beautiful. But the most beautiful to Zoro.. was you. His hand inched towards yours. His pinky touching yours. And before he knew it, you placed your while hand on his. He was surprised he looked at you and found you blushing even harder still looking forward. He grinned. He grabbed your arm and pulled you closer. You yelped softly. You were closer to him. Your noses almost touching and your bodies sitting comfortably against each other like two pieces of a puzzle.
“Z-Zoro, what are you-“
You were caught off guard. His lips against yours. Gently moving in a rhythm. You couldn’t help but join in on it.
After a minute you both pulled away to breathe. You laughed and placed your head on his shoulder as you looked at the horizon.
“What a strange night this has been. But i’m glad to have spent it you.”
