Q: Are there any character parts that make you think, “this is hard to draw”?
A: When it comes to parts, large breasts are all difficult. Also, during the week where Szayelaporro’s release state came up I complained the whole time whilst drawing it.
Q: I’d like to see the design proposal for volume 31 with Szayelaporro on the cover sometime, the one which Kubo-sensei previously mentioned on Twitter…!
A: Hasn’t this been published anywhere? I’ll try and see if I have it at hand.
Q: Do Szayelaporro’s glasses have lenses? Since it’s a mask, there should be no lenses so I assumed it was the frame alone. However in the anime, there were depictions of lenses reflecting the light and gleaming so I was confused!
Q: The Granz brothers share the same birthday, height and weight, but are they considered twins?
Q: Were Szayelaporro and Yylfordt actually brothers during their time as humans? I think it’s an exceedingly rare occurrence for both brothers to Hollowfy after death and also become an Arrancar, but I wonder if there was some common trigger? I have been curious about the pair for a long time, so I would like it if you could tell me.
A: The two of them were too similar at their core, so they were met with the same fate.
Q: I believe that the Loyd & Granz brothers are identical twins while Karin & Yuzu are fraternal twins. Is that correct?
Q: Are Aaroniero and Szayel doing well in hell?
Q: Is there any male character from Bleach media out of the Living World, Soul Society, Hueco Mundo or among Quincies that you think is the most handsome (or that you consciously draw in a way that would be considered handsome)?
A: Hitsugaya, Byakuya, Szayelaporro and Haschwalth. All of them fit the “beautiful character” archetype so I draw them accordingly.
Q: Even among all the defeated characters, I feel like Szayelaporro is the one character that has returns the most. Is he one of your favorite characters?
A: Szayelaporro is a very eccentric man so even for short lived scenes he stirs things up, which is why I end up using him.
Q: The “Espada” group underwent several fundamental changes during the events of the story, but were the Espada numbers 1, 4, 8, and 9 really never replaced?
A: The first generation of the “Espada” consisted of only 7 members. As for the “Espada” who bear the names of the 7 deadly sins, they are the ones who were never replaced.

Question: Do you decide things like a character’s image from the character’s outward appearance?
Answer: Starting from the appearance, I think about things like what kind of personality would become more appealing with that look. Also, there are things I take from the Seven Deadly Sins. Among the current Espada, let’s see... Barragan, Aaroniero’s “Glotoneria,” Szayelaporro’s “Fornicarás,” and Yammy too. Those are the ones who were there from the beginning, the seven-member early Espada. It was an Espada tied to the seven sins, but from there it gradually increased and became the current ten Espada. So there are still some of the Seven Deadly Sins that I haven’t used. When I drew Aaroniero, since he had the ability to eat, I took gluttony from the Seven Deadly Sins, but I didn’t want to limit myself only to the Seven Deadly Sins. There are some I intentionally left unused. In fact, along with the early Espada who survived (laugh)
Q: Dordonii Cirucci, Luppi and Chuhlhourne have reappeared as members of the Zombie Corps, but have other Arrancar who were defeated in past battles also been collected by Mayuri and assigned to the Zombie Corps?
A: Everything that Szayelaporro collected using Exequias is being stored by Mayuri. How he uses them is up to Mayuri, though.
Q: I like left-handed characters, are there any in BLEACH besides Uryū and Szayelaporro?
A: Szayelaporro is left-handed!? Ah, now that I think about it, he did draw his sword with his left hand. Among Shinigami, since Zanpakutō is worn on the left side of the hip, there generally aren’t any left-handed ones.
