❘ T U N N E L V I S I O N - 6❘ More explorations deep underground, guided by spectacular lights... follow the light, always follow the light I guess it leads you to the most unexpected places.
❘ T U N N E L V I S I O N - 5 ❘ There's light everywhere in this tunnel, spectacular lights everywhere, not just at the end of the tunnel... my kind of tunnel lol. Another shot from my premetro tunnel explorations. It was suite a while ago and I simply can't understand why I never posted them before. Anyway have a wonderful night/day my dear friends
PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #5: RED I struggled somewhat with this assignment I must admit, even though the subject 'RED' left a lot of room to improvise. I set myself the goal of photographing 'RED' without using color, let a B&W image communicate the feeling but my experiments failed, not because of a lack of imagination or inspiration but rather because my experiments needed more time to grow and blossom. In their current state these ideas are just that, ideas to work on and build on. Work has been beyond crazy so there was no more time to work on them further so instead I'm posting these I shot as a backup in case my experiments failed. I like the feeling of emptiness in the first 2 photos, the loneliness that they convey to me. Then there are the balloons, freedom interrupted before it even begun.... I'm not too sure about the edit though. Anyway, tell me what you think... i look forward to hearing from you... have a wonderful night my dear friends, time for me to get some sleep. www.instagram.com/yves_broeckx All photos by me... © Yves Broeckx @tedforbes
PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #4: HIGH ANGLE PHOTOGRAPHY ❘ A ROOM WITH A VIEW -1 ❘ - Antwerp, MAS Museum - As I said in my previous post, I have one more entry for the high angle photography assignment of The Art of Photography but it didn't quite fit in with the previous series of photos so it get's it's own little post... As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts and for now: have a wonderful night/day wherever you are on our beautiful planet. PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #4: HIGH ANGLE PHOTOGRAPHY ❘ I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD!!! ❘ - Antwerp, MAS Museum - I love this building, I love the windows and the way they 'distort' the view outside with their waves, I love the feeling and soul of this building. So... I thought it would be perfect to try some high angle photography. When I saw this couple cuddling in one of the windowcorners that always remind me of the bow of a ship, I couldn't help but whisper ...I'm the king of the world... and think of Titanic... So I guess my little series of them is my entry for the high angle photography assignment for The Art of Photography. Part 1 anyway because I have one more that didn't quite fit my Titanic series... www.instagram.com/yves_broeckx All photos by me... © Yves Broeckx @tedforbes
❘ T U N N E L V I S I O N - 2 ❘ A view down the St Anna's tunnel, or more commonly known as the 'voetgangerstunnel', a fascinating, tiled cilinder, a 572 m long pedestrian and bycicle tunnel which crosses the river Schelde at a depth of 32m and connects the 'old' city center of Antwerp with the leftbank. It was constructed in 1931 - 1933 and the authentic wooden escalators which were considered an engineering marvel at the time of construction still service the tunnels today. Those are definately worth a post of their own so... coming soon... maybe one more fun fact? The official speed limit posted is 5km/h so no speedwalking! If you would like to know more about this fascinating Belgian structure, here's a good to start: http://www.visitantwerpen.be/en/detail/pedestrian-and-cyclists-tunnel For now, have a wonderful day/night wherever you are my friends.... www.instagram.com/yves_broeckx All photos by me... © Yves Broeckx
PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #3: EYE-LEVEL PHOTOGRAPHY ❘ ABOUT A BOY ❘ I guess this one is about the boys. People told me that the edit of the last portrait was too dark, but I sort of love the light, so tell me what you think?@ These are my entries for photo assignment 3 from The Art of Photography... If you have some time you should check out the accompanying instructional video... I loved it, such inspirational photos and words. I never thought about it that way but the 2 guidelines, simple and obvious they might be and they really do make sense, I just never thought of it. Anyway if you have a minute check out the video, and while you're there: there are so many gems there... enjoy and for now: Have a wonderful night/day wherever you are on our beautiful planet... ❘ I S E E Y O U ❘
Jolientje, my brother’s daughter and the light of my life, studying me through these antique binoculars while I’m photographing her. That’s our thing, she puts on a performance while I photograph her. I cannot even begin to count the photos I shot of her over the years and she always delivers, always puts on her gameface. I think she finds it fascinating, this uncle with this thing ‘glued’ to his face, photographing her while she puts on an act… and well, let’s be honest, she loves the attention… and well… so does uncle Yves 😊

PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #2: LOW ANGLE PHOTOGRAPHY ❘Jeanne❘ - the statue of Jeanne d'Arc at the Place Des Pyramides in beautiful Paris - I love Paris, I feel at home in Paris... So I guess I'm pretty fortunate to be only a 2h trainride away, though I don't get to go nearly enough. There's something in the air, there's beauty around every corner, history in every nook and cranny. I love wandering the streets with my camera, watching the people go by, strolling the parks or admiring the incredible architecture, art and fashion... sipping a coffee on a terasse while the world passes you by... yes... I feel at home in Paris, maybe one day it will be more than a feeling. I know, the assignement is finished and I already posted some photos but I couldn't resist Jeanne for this low angle assignment, the low angle creates a perspective perfect for her larger than life legacy I think, but as always, tell me your thoughts. Have a wonderful day/night wherever you are on our beautiful planet of ours. Yves www.instagram.com/yves_broeckx All photos by me... © Yves Broeckx @tedforbes
❘ NIGHT ALLOWS THE STARS TO SHINE ❘
…or in this case: night allows the diamonds to shine, Antwerps biggest diamond that is: The havenhuis, designed by the wildly talented but sadly departed Zaha Hadid. I love this building, I love the structure but also the symbolism behind it’s placement and the design.
So what do you do on Christmas Eve when you have nothing better to do? You get out the tripod and try to capture this beauty. My timing wasn’t perfect though, it was too windy for the tripod to serve a real purpose but I did manage to get this one…
Let me know what you think and as always, have a wonderful day/night wherever you are

Watch this space... there's much more to come! For now I wanted to wish you all a wonderful weekend, filled with beauty, warmth, fun, laughter, love and some good photographs... Have fun! Yves Note: this is not an image created by me but I cannot seem to find who did. If you know, let me know, I will gladly give credit where credit is due...
PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #2: LOW ANGLE PHOTOGRAPHY
The Wanderer
It was a dreary day, a misty day in the woods. I was just about to head home to a nice cup of coffee when I saw this man walking his dog. It sort of felt gothic, Victorian gothic in my imagination (and I like that lol). That’s why I tried to emphasize that in the edit. I love it but what do you think? I like this dark, moody feel but what about you? Is it too dark? Yes, I admit, looking back at it, seeing it printed out (such a great tip Tedd, i will do this always now), the dog could have used a bit more definition.
So my opinion Good: the atmosphere Bad: too dark? Dog needs more definition
Tell me what you think, and for now, have a wonderful day/night wherever you are on this beautiful planet of ours

PHOTO ASSIGNMENT #1: VARIATIONS part 1
The view from my bathroom window, shot intentionally through the glass and the gauze because it’s my ‘protective box’ sort of, the way I see the world, through the gauze…
I’m not entirely happy with all of these I must say, but that’s the purpose I guess… to learn…
There is a second post coming since I can only upload 10 images at a time it seems. Tell me your thoughts or just say hi!
For now, have a wonderful day/night wherever you are on this beautiful planet of ours…
The low angle assignment is coming asap…

❘ 10 things I love ❘
Prelude to the variations challlenge for the photo challenges of The Art of Photography
My Anti-Selfie Selfportrait Series
Ted asked us to “shoot 10 photos of something or someone you love” as sort of a prelude to the first photo assignment.
Well, my New Year’s resolution for 2017 is to love myself a bit more so I guess no better way to start than to pick me.
These are not new shots as in made for this ‘prelude’ (yes I know, they should be) but I’m trying to catch up and most are only a few weeks old. I just discovered the photo assignments, so I want to catch up to where you all are asap since one of the things I love about this is the social part. I’m looking forward to interacting with other photo-addicts, share opinions, discuss photos…
Therefore, for this prelude I will go with a series I’ve been working on for a while, my Anti-Selfie Selfportraits. Everywhere I go I shoot a reflection of me, but always with the camera ‘protecting’ me. These are a few of those. My overture to me I guess
The real variations entry is coming right up, for now: Tell me your thoughts, what you think (good or bad) or just say hi!
Have a wonderful day/night wherever you are on this beautiful planet of ours
