Not every time Jack and Robby have sex goes off without a hitch.
Sometimes, Jack will be kissing him, touching him just as Robby does the same, and Robby's head will start to drown out with noise: don't deserve this, you don't deserve for him to touch you that way, get away, don't let him see, not worth this, only worth something when you're pleasuring him, him, him, pleasure him instead--
Robby pulls out of the kiss and slides quickly down to his knees, avoiding eye contact as the heavy sting of emotion fills his eyes. He blinks rapidly, trying to keep the tears from streaking out, because then Jack will know something is up. Robby doesn't speak, choking too hard on shame and guilt for thinking he deserves this or having a fleeting moment of worthiness.
He'll never be what Jack deserves, but Robby can do his best to absolve himself of this horrible desire for Jack's attention, his praise, his everything, Robby wants it all but he's not allowed to have it, not in his own mind. His shaky fingers work down Jack's zipper. The only thing that will make Robby feel better, soothe the bottomless pit in his soul, is by serving Jack, by making sure he has a good time and he's comfortable and he's enjoying this.
"Robby," Jack pants, fingers gripping Robby's hair; good, so he hasn't noticed. "Wait, man, hold on. Look at me."
Robby doesn't look at him, but doesn't continue, of course, just stays there on his knees between Jack's splayed knees, hoping and waiting for Jack to lose the scent. Robby's fingers twitch with the urge to pull his jeans the rest of the way down, help get his leg off, make sure Jack doesn't have to lift a finger because he deserves that. Robby needs to give him that and do that for him, he needs it in order to feel okay about what Jack is letting him have, do, see.
"Are you okay, man? You went awful quiet." Jack's voice has calmed from that lustful panting. He gently tilts Robby's chin up, and Robby closes his eyes. He realizes now that the fist in his hair was to guide him away from Jack's dick, make sure Robby didn't just carry on.
"Look at me, please," Jack whispers softly, so warm and loving, and that only makes it worse, the tears stinging as they burst out, as Robby's eyes screw shut and he leans his forehead into Jack's thigh. He hides there as he sobs, as Jack's fingers tighten in his hair. "Whoa, hey, brother, are you- no, of course you're not okay, that's stupid. Hey, shh, I'm here. Not going anywhere. Just let it out, no good bottling it up."
He pets Robby's hair as he cries into Jack's jeans, and part of Robby wants to wrench himself away and continue to cry on his own, without the loving embrace of Jack's hands because he doesn't deserve that kind of comfort--but the rest of him simply isn't strong enough to do so.
"Talk to me," Jack murmurs after a minute, when Robby has calmed down a little bit. "What set you off, sweetheart?" He reserves that name only for the tenderest, most vulnerable moments between them, when Robby is raw like this, when Jack knows exactly what to say to comfort him. Robby doesn't deserve him, and he wishes he didn't need Jack so badly, but he knows he couldn't survive without him.
"Just want to please you," Robby whispers, because the aching hole in his soul just wants to get back to that, to pleasing Jack as a way to absolve himself. The only thing that will make him feel better. "Please, let me." He starts fumbling with the zipper again, but Jack gently takes his hand and threads their fingers together.
"That can wait," Jack says, eyes concerned now, and of course he doesn't understand, why would he if Robby didn't explain? "I would much rather lie down with you, just--let me hold you for a minute. We'll talk about this when you're up for it."
"No," Robby can't help but say, squeezing Jack's hand. "Don't deserve that."
Jack is silent for a moment, almost speechless, and then says, "You do, brother, you do. That's--god, that's fucking nothing from me. You really don't know how much I love you, do you? How I'd do anything for you, and holding you tight while you tell me what made you start sobbing during sex is not a chore? It's not, Robby, it's not."
He takes Robby's face in his hands and tilts it up to look at him again with a soft, reassuring smile. "I swear, brother. Now come here. I'm not going anywhere until we talk this out."
He pulls Robby up into bed with him, and that dangerous sound of hope appears in Robby's mind yet again. The hope that he might, someday, somehow, be worthy of this man.
