Get Like Me | Ailee & Baekhyun
“You really think so?” Baekhyun looked up at her with hopeful eyes. It was one of the many little times that people actually praised his work, which made him feel happiness build up in his stomach. He usually never got compliments, but hearing it from a fellow member of the photography club made it all that special. He’s heard of Ailee a few times, and he had to admit, her work was amazing. He’d always been admiring her work, and wondered how she could take such great photos without having to try so hard, unlike him.
It was a first for one of the members to actually approach him, but he didn’t mind. Having someone that he acknowledge and admired their work come up to him and compliment was a huge success to him. Usually he’d cut the person off and just leave, but since Ailee had such great passion for photography, and never fooled around when it came to serious work, he’d take her into consideration for a friend, or atleast an acquaintance.
“Nothing really, I was just gonna head back to my dorm or something.” He started, but stared blankly at her. “Nope, I don’t suppose I have any plans. What about you?” He asked. She seemed like the type to always be busy and never have time for other things, since she had the aura of someone that focuses in school yet is involved in many school extra-curriculars.
"I was just gonna head back to my dorm, too," Ailee said, making sure she didn't sound busy just in case he was one of those people who hated to impose on others' schedules. While it wasn't entirely a lie that she was going back to her dorm, the lackadaisical tone with which she spoke wasn't exactly truthful either. She had a large workload to work through before she could go to bed, but the opportunity to get to know Baekhyun was one she didn't want to pass by now that she'd already approached him.
"Do you want to do something for a couple hours?" Ailee asked him, sending him a warm smile afterward. "We can go grab something to eat or just take a couple pictures and exchange techniques."
Ailee was fine with either suggestion. In her original plan on going back to her dorm, she had intended to throw some ramen on the stove to eat before she tackled her mountain of schoolwork and editing, so grabbing a bite to eat would not bother her at all, though her hunger wasn't so urgent that she needed food right at that moment. She was also interested in learning about how he took his photos and what he did to get them to turn out the way they did. Everyone had different tips and secrets to share, and because he hardly ever spoke up during meetings, she wondered what his were.
But she didn't want to pressure him into anything if he wasn't willing. "Feel free to shoot me down," she said with a light laugh. "I've got a tough heart; I can take rejection."
Set, Go :: Ailee & Seunghyun
“Aaaahhh,” Seunghyun nods in understanding as he listens to Ailee talk. While he didn’t become a good guitarist overnight, he never really did have any problems when he first tried teaching himself how to play the guitar. Ailee has just somehow always seemed so capable that it surprises him that something had actually not worked out for her.
Absentmindedly, Seunghyun picks up a pair of straws, tapping the edge of the table with them as Ailee continues to talk about shooting photos and videos. He’s never been much of an intuitive guy, or the type to take note of subtle inflections when people talk, but even Seunghyun can tell how much she loves what she’s talking about.
He watches Ailee start playing with the sugar packets again, laughing when she asks him to tell her something about him. “Well you should probably know I’m getting very hungry,” he says, laughing sheepishly and looking around the diner, trying to see if their food is ready. He taps his stomach, feeling the soft rumble starting to worsen.
“But ah, apart from that…” he trails off, trying to think of something. “I… don’t like expensive clothes, he volunteers randomly with a bright smile.
Replacing the single sugar packet back to its proper spot, Ailee gave Seunghyun a curious look at the random fact he decided to bestow upon her, and as soon as he gave her a smile, she sent one right back. "Not exactly what I was expecting," she said with a light laugh. "Though, to be fair, I don't really know what I was expecting anyway. But expensive clothing can be a bit of a bother, especially when you've got other things you need to pay for."
As another giggle left her lips, the doors to the kitchen opened and a waitress emerged, holding a tray of food. Ailee's eyes immediately wento to her and scrutinized the food atop the tray until she was absolutely sure the food was theirs. She glanced back at Seunghyun and gave him two thumbs up. "I think the food gods heard you," she said as the waitress sat the tray down on an expandable stand. "Or maybe just the chef."
As the food was set out before them, Ailee bounced a bit in her seat, excited to eat. The food looked delicious, and before the waitress could even set the plate down on the table in front of her, Ailee's hand had reached out and plucked an onion ring from the stack. She took a bite and the flavor filled her mouth immediately, leading her to decide that, yes, this place had awesome food. Finally, the waitress departed, wishing them a good meal.
"Oh~ yours looks really good, too, Seunghyun ah," Ailee commented, looking at the double layered cheeseburger surrounded by fries on his plate. "I don't think I've ever tried that. Maybe next time." As the words left her lips, Ailee picked up the steak knife and began cutting her burger in two. "So what are your plans after graduating?" she asked absentmindedly as she attempted to keep the pieces of her burger together. "Or are you not decided yet?"
relaxation || jjong&ailee
Jonghyun decided it was time for a ‘me’ day. Things were getting better with his father, but it didn’t mean things were still perfect. His grades needed a big boost, he had to write two new songs for Music Appreciation since he left, not to mention he had to catch up in Glee, Choir and Guitar Club. There was also fixing things with Donghae, getting over how much he hated Minho and figuring out what was going on with him and Jinki. He needed a day to just relax. Perfect way to relax was a spa day.
He had went on a few spa days with his sister since his sister decided Jonghyun was her gay best friend despite her secretary also being gay (and who hit on Jonghyun whenever he saw him). But he didn’t want to take his sister. He was going to take the person who gave him the tickets.
Ailee and him had gotten oddly close. He trusted her with all of his secrets. It was weird, but he didn’t mind it. He had called her that morning telling her to get ready for a day away to relax.
Now he was outside the Gangjeon complex, leaning against his car. He sent a quick text to the girl, telling her to get her butt downstairs so they could go.
Honestly speaking, even though Ailee had thrown the suggestion Jonghyun's way about taking her to the spa with him, she never figured that he'd actually call her up and ask her. The two hadn't been particularly close before he'd left, but when he came back, he had confided in her all the things that were bothering him. It was a rather sudden thing, a big change in the dynamic of their relationship, but Ailee didn't mind it--a friend was a friend, after all. (Still, Ailee found it difficult to spill any of her own secrets, and she didn't know if she would have the guts to do it anytime soon.)
As soon as she'd gotten the call from Jonghyun, Ailee immediately threw all her plans for the day out the window, because who, in their right mind, would refuse a spa day? Never mind that she'd planned the day to work on a big paper that was due in three days and to edit photos for one of her clients. Facial masks and massages were calling her name! There was no time to do actual work!
Ailee was sitting in front of her vanity mirror, putting her hair up into a messy bun when she received the text. With her hands still entangled in her hair, Ailee read the message across the top of her notification bar and, once she had secured her hair in a scrunchie, she picked up the phone and texted him that she'd be right down.
Taking her phone with her, Ailee left her place and headed downstairs to the front of the complex where she immediately spotted Jonghyun. She waved her hands before going over and pulling him into a hug. "I'm excited!" she said with a grin. It had been a while since she'd allowed herself to relax like this.
Gray Matter || Ailee & Lay
Lay was expecting a reaction from Ailee over his finger, a “wound” barely visible enough to be considered an injury placed upon the skin, but what he wasn’t expecting was the reaction to seem even the slightest bit serious. He wasn’t really hurt and he besides some minor stinging, it didn’t bother him. She would know that, right? “It’s not even that big of a deal,” he laughed, following after her. How were they supposed to take care of if anyway?
As silly as he thought it all was, he still couldn’t help but to smile and allow himself to be dragged along behind her, carefully sliding his blades against the ice and only half focusing on not falling or tripping over the skates. Despite their environment, Ailee’s hand was warm and that was the only thing Lay could bring himself to remember about the entire situation, completely oblivious to anyone that he passed or almost ran into (because there were definitely a few).
Once they were off the ice, Lay almost stumbled as he got used to the switch in ground but he adjusted quickly and followed Ailee over to the lockers. “Are you really that concerned over my finger?” He raised an eyebrow, putting his full attention on her instead of the locker they had stopped before. He noticed that she seemed a little anxious about the entire ordeal as he carefully looked over the expression washed upon her face and without much thinking into the action, he grabbed her hand and pulled her over to a nearby bench and guided her into having a seat, squatting down and placing his hands on each side of her before she could do much protesting.
“Listen,” he said, a smile tugging at his lips as he looked up at the girl, “I’ll open the locker, only because I have a hard time saying no to your face for some reason, but first you should take a deep breath and remind yourself you shouldn’t be worrying, okay?” He closed his eyes, smile still on his face, before breathing in deep and exhaling slowly to show Ailee just what to do.
Lightly laughing, he pushed himself up from his position and walked back over to the locker, opening it fairly quickly and glancing back over his shoulder. “What do you need? Your purse? Is that right?” His eyes waited for confirmation before he reached his hand inside and grabbed the bag, handing it over to Ailee as he squatted back down into his previous position. Holding his finger up for her to see, he looked at the tear across it carefully. “You shouldn’t be around me when I’m skateboarding.”
The anxiety was still running through her veins even as Lay sat her down and tried to calm her. She said nothing to his words and instead involuntarily let a small whining sound echo within the empty locker room as she continued to shake her legs, only watching as he demonstrated deep breathing, wanting to somehow retrieve the keys herself and open the locker on her own. Still, with his words and actions, Ailee did realize that she was being a bit over dramatic over his almost nonexistent cut, so she willed her legs to stop shaking up and down and took one big breath to try and calm herself.
"Yes, my purse," Ailee said as Lay went over to the locker and finally opened it. She took the large bag from him and shuffled through all its contents. "Don't skateboard around me," she said absentmindedly as she moved her camera aside to get to the items underneath it. Finally, she found what she was looking for, pulling out some Neosporin and a small box of band-aids. She never went anywhere without them; she was always worried about cuts and infections, information ingrained in her mind from her parents.
"Now, let's take a look at this," she said, her voice light and happy at having found her 'tools.' She took a hold of his hand, hand brushing lightly over the cut that he had recently acquired. It really didn't look serious at all, but she'd heard way too many horror stories from her mother and father to even think that the cut didn't need any attention. She never really understood why her parents always told her such gruesome stories, but she was glad they did. At least now she would always be prepared for moments like this.
Daintily, Ailee placed Lay's hand onto her lap while she removed the tube of Neosporin from its box and uncapped it. She shook it a bit so that the contents would travel toward the tip, then took Lay's hand in hers again and applied a small layer of Neosporin to his cut. Once again, his hand was placed in her lap as she reached for the box of band-aids, on the front of which were the various starter Pokemon and Pikachu. She grinned sheepishly after realizing this.
"I have a nephew who's always running around, gathering scrapes and bruises," she explained. She had no idea why she thought she needed to lie about getting those band-aids for herself. Sure, she had a nephew, but she barely ever saw him, and he was only a few months old, hardly the age to be 'running around.' As she looked through her bandages, a question left her lips. "Who's your favorite Pokemon " she asked. "I have a few, but one of my favorites is Eevee." She pulled out a bandage and unwrapped it, revealing the aforementioned Pokemon. "So you get an Eevee band-aid." She removed the plastic covering and delicately placed the bandage on Lay's finger. "There. All better!"
Lights, Camera, Action! || Ailee x Taemin
Taemin felt quite at ease during the shoot, having his noona as the photographer made it easier and simpler, he was comfortable with her as a photographer and simply because she was a fantastic at her line of work. He wasn’t going to tell her that of course, but he was sure she already knew anyways.
By the time they had finished Taemin needed a recharge, he had managed to stay happy and chipper in front of the cameras but as soon as the wrap was called out and he changed back to his normal clothes he needed to grab something to eat before he passed out.
“Yes.. please I am starving.” He complained slightly wrapping his arms around the girls arm, leaning on her slender shoulder. The younger mirrored Ailee’s respectfulness, his own lips spilling out the simple phrase in both gratitude and congratulations to everyone that had worked to make their shoot a piece of cake. ” I would say rilakkuma first but I don’t think I could walk for too long before I passed out from lack of nutrients.” He teased lightly, hoping into the passenger side of the car. “What are we eating.” he smiled at the elder, playing with the fray on his t-shirt.
” Meat… samgyupsal.” He smiled getting a little excited and expectant. “Dubu stew with some grilled samgyupsal sounds good doesn’t it noona?” The younger smiled cutely at the elder, hoping to get his ideal meal.
"Child, that does not sound like a sandwich," Ailee said, laughing afterward as she started the car. She placed her hand behind the headrest of the front passenger seat and backed out of the parking lot before taking off. "I know this little shopping center that sells all that cute stuff. It also has a couple of restaurants so that we don't have to eat at the same place. We can just meet up somewhere at one of the outdoor seating areas. Plus it's much less crowded than the mall."
The drive to the said shopping center wasn't too long, and within a five song travel, Ailee pulled into an average sized parking lot. Shops littered the small shopping center. There was only one corporate chain there--just a bank--most of the stores and restaurants were family owned and operated, which Ailee enjoyed. She often thought that family-owned places were more friendly and more quality since they had a lot more to lose if bad word of mouth got out about them and she found that most of the time this thought held true. After finding a parking spot in front of the bank, Ailee unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.
"Did you see any place you liked?" Ailee asked as she stretched a bit before locking the car as the two of them walked away. She'd been to this particular shopping center a few times, but only to get some bubble tea. She had never actually tried any of the restaurants there, and she was glad that she was finally going to be able to try it.
"I think I want to get some boba first," Ailee admitted with a cheeky grin, eyeing the tea shop next door to the bank. "I think a milk tea sound lovely right now." Her eyes scanned the rest of the plaza, eyes reading over the various names of the restaurants nearby. She saw a fried curry place and her eyes lit up, immediately pushing the idea of a sandwich out of her mind. "And then I could go for some chicken curry!"
It wasn't Fate || Ailee & Sunggyu
He could only look up to the ceiling preventing the tears from falling. It only made it more difficult to leave, hearing her also confess. After such a long time, all these times they had alone time together. Sunggyu had the chance to say it to her, and show how he much he meant it. He felt a cold shiver along his back just hearing the same three words he said Ailee. The same three words that mocked him after such a long time. Everywhere he went, he felt shame all over him. Not being able to say it to her, not until now. Alone in this gym, as emptiness surround, only their voices were heard.
Sunggyu’s face fell, he did knew she loved him back. But he wasn’t sure if she would say yes, maybe he was just afraid. Or perhaps, he just missed the chance. Just remembering the times where he would hug her tightly chuckling in the process, was all he could think. But it wasn’t the same. Their relationship faded away, just like their feelings for each other. Was love just only playing with his heart?
He turned around to face her, feeling uneasiness fall down on him. Sunggyu pulled her into a tight long hug, embracing her, protecting her, hugging her. Letting all these emotions that were bottled up inside him, spill out like a container full of water. Feeling her soft long hair against his skin, and letting their cheeks brush. “It’s been a while since I hugged you, huh?” he let out a small chuckle.
Ailee nearly lost it when he turned around but she held back from reacting too suddenly and too much to the look on his face. Instead, the corners of her lips quirked up ever so slightly as she concentrated on keeping her tear ducts from producing anything. She couldn't even move, thinking that once she tried, her knees would give out and she'd just collapse to the floor because even if she pretended to be stronger than she was when she first started attending the university four years ago, she was still someone who had trouble dealing with emotions. She was still broken.
Then Sunggyu pulled her into a hug and she could no longer pretend she was a strong person. The emotions she'd been holding back suddenly trickled out of her eyes and down her face as she held onto Sunggyu tightly, the feeling of his embrace all too familiar yet distressingly foreign. A small chuckle left her lips at his words and all she could do at the moment was nod her head. It really had been a while, and more. The feelings since the last time she was in his arms had faded, but the memories were still bittersweet.
And now that they'd said it, the feelings that they had been too scared, too insecure to say, they could both move on. But how to even begin? Were they supposed to walk away now, once again treating each other like nothing had happened? Or did they try to start all over, erasing the memories of things that could have been? Reluctantly, Ailee pulled away, wiping her face of the tears that had fallen before looking into Sunggyu's eyes as if they held the answer. "I'm sorry I never told you," she said, her voice hoarse from her cries.
Comfort in a Song | Ailee & Daeryong
Today was in an important day. Not for Daeryong himself but for his father who he tried his best and more for. It was another little - well not little more like huge in all shapes and forms - get together where all the companies that were partnered with his father would come together in collaboration and have a good time. Just another one of his father’s secret ideas to get more people on his side. Rich companies are invited and bring more rich companies as guests and that’s when his father would schmooze his way along the green paper drift and get more people to sponsor and donate to his own funds. Oh, not to mention that Daeryong and his brother would end up being the spotlight at some point for everyone to see,
It was as if the twins were the prize at the end of the money maze that everyone was trying to get to. Strangely enough, having them in the light helped a boat load considering how well mannered and spoken the two were due to vigorous training over the years that they also ended up being the life the party needed in the long run. Daeryong and Soryong would constantly be separated to speak with the older males or females about company business or get squashed together and joked about how similar they were or how lucky they were to be twins. At some points, Daeryong would also feel degraded and have to leave tso he wouldn’t punch some old cow in the face for saying a stupid twin joke that got old really fast.
Today wasn’t just any get together. Today was the day that Daeryong had someone he could show off as well. His own little personal prize that he was very proud of. Daeryong was never really prone to dating but when he did, showing off was one thing he enjoyed. He enjoyed the praise he got and the lovely compliments they would say about the girl he was with and now that he had Ailee, he would hear again. Except this time around, he was a lot happier than usual. He was able to actually spend time with her, talk to her, hold her, kiss her. His busy schedule would barely allow much conversation and he knew how much that didn’t settle well with her so this was his own secret idea to have her with him. In any case„ he also wanted her to see what it was that was keeping them from seeing each other as often as they wanted.
When Ailee had excused herself, he had nodded but his eyes never left her until she fully disappeared. Turning back to the men he was speaking to, they went on talking about Ailee before settling into the normal corporation talk and after what seemed like twenty minutes of going to the bathroom, Daeryong was getting kind of worried. There were men her that liked to get drunk more than anything and if one of them had gotten her he wouldn’t have been afraid to choke one out and commit murder. Ailee was his precious little keepsake and he wasn’t about to let anyone get their hands on her. He barely liked when the men in the party kissed her hand.
Daeryong asked around if they had seen her and some had pointed to the doors that led outside. Thank them, he loosed his tie and walked out the door to see her fish out some money and drop it in the fountain. Daeryong smiled and slowly walked up behind her, catching the wish and pursing his lips so he wouldn’t laugh. Instead, he slipped his arms around her waist and pressed her back against his chest. “That’s your wish? The least you could have wished for was for me to have a lot of free time so I can play with you.” He hummed in her ear with a laugh. “We don’t have to go back in there if you don’t want to. It’s better out here anyway. No more stuffy old men in suits asking me weird twin questions of what the percentage of blah blah blah is compared to blah blah blah is as well as the rates of blah blah corporate blah boring shit blah blah blah. I have the worst job in the world.”
Feeling Daeryong's arms around her waist suddenly and his voice in her ear nearly caused Ailee to react in her usual manner to sudden surprises--cursing loudly in English--but she was quick to remember the setting the two were in. Her anxiety kept the curse words mangled in her throat because she was still focused on making a good impression even if she was already out in the courtyard. Instead, she closed her eyes, willing herself to calm her heightened heartbeat. After a few moments of deep breaths, she got herself under control and finally processed what Daeryong had said to her.
Despite herself, a small chuckle escaped her lips as her fingers went to intertwine themselves with his. "I don't think I have enough coins to make such a wish," she answered, holding onto his hands tightly. Words like those usually caused Ailee to go off into a rant about how he was always away, but after going through every thing she did that night, she had neither the heart nor the strength to. She could barely handle one night trying to impress people she didn't even know; she could only imagine what it would be like doing something like this as often as Daeryong and his twin brother did. She was already mentally fatigued, and that exhaustion spread out to her physical being as well.
Daeryong's words should have comforted her, but with her fragile state, it only caused her to lose it. Suddenly, she was bawling, her hands that were once linked with Daeryong's now wiping desperately at her face. "I'm so sorry," she sobbed. "I just--I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm really not cut out for this. I'm not good enough for this or for you..." The words were pouring out of her mouth before she could even formulate a proper thought or sentence. Nothing that Daeryong had said had anything to do with why she was crying; she hardly had any idea herself why she had reacted that way to his suggestion.
"Can I just--can I go home?" she said between sobs, detaching herself from the warmth of Daeryong's body to lean onto the edge of the fountain, trying to steady herself due to the fact that she suddenly lost the strength to stand on her own. In doing so, she caught the reflection of herself in the water. She was an even bigger mess than when she'd first gone out. Whatever make-up that was left on her face after she'd splashed water on it was now smeared across her face and her carefully coiffed hair she had spent an hour in the salon for was becoming frayed and undone.
"You should go back in," Ailee said after taking a few breaths to try and calm herself. It had barely worked. Her shoulders still shook with sobs and her voice had come out so meek and quiet that she would have doubted Daeryong had heard her if not for the fact that it was dead quiet in the courtyard save for some crickets and the gentle sound of the water fountain. She reached into her purse again and began wiping at her face, trying to rid the smears she had wiped across her face, but every time she wiped away the remnants of her tears, a new set flooded onto her face again. The night was a disaster.
Early Dismissal | Ailee & Chansung
Judging my her reactions once they entered the store, Chansung could tell photography was something she really enjoyed. He blinked hearing she had been to the states. Like lived there? Sure he had been to America a few times, but all it was for social events and to form business deals. He had only experienced America as a passing tourist and nothing more.
“Different way? Photography captures life in the most realistic way since it’s a copy of what you see.” his words just flew off his tongue. If Ailee could better explain herself he was all ears. “Well besides the boring stuff of school and studying I play guitar, train in kumdo and … that’s it.” Chansung gave her a small smile, he could’ve mentioned all the fancy parties he goes to because of his background. However he had hide that truth for so long now it wouldn’t make sense to reveal it now. People were sure to want a piece of him knowing he was the “Lottery Kid”. Seongnam was haven away from everyone, save for Jinki and Min, who knew his past and the tragedy it entailed. “I take it you’re in the photography club. Do you shot any events?” he picked up a camera from the display and toyed with it pretending to take pictures with it.
Ailee nodded her head at Chansung's question. She often got it when she explained her reasons for loving photography. "Yes, it does capture those realistic moments in life," she said; it was a different aspect she also admired about the art. "But the right props, setting, models, even just a change in lighting and setting can portray a different story than what is actually happening. A single photograph, just like a painting, can be interpreted in many different ways. Those are the kind of photographs I like to take. As the person behind the lens, I can control what is portrayed." She looked up at Chansung with a grin before directing her attention back to the lenses.
"Guitar and kumdo?" Ailee asked as she pointed out the lens she'd been wanting for years to a clerk. it wasn't a terribly necessary lens--it just allowed her to zoom into small objects like ladybugs with crystal clarity--but she had wanted it to be a part of her collection ever since she'd learned of its existence. As the clerk opened up the display case to take it out, Ailee turned her attention back to him. "That's really it? Nothing else?"
Once again, her attention was on the lens as it was handed to her by the clerk. She rolled the object in her hands, her mind readily visualizing it attached to her trusty camera. She could already see the pictures she could and would take once that lens was hers. Once again, Chansung's questions nearly went unheard, but after a minute of processing that she'd been spoken to, she looked up at him again, an abashed smile on her face.
"Yeah, I'm in the photography club," she said, switching the lens from hand to hand, testing its weight. "I don't shoot any events for the school, if that's what your asking? But I do freelance photography for weddings and birthdays and stuff. There are a lot of rich people around here who are willing to pay a lot of money for quality photography to preserve their memories." Ailee gave the lens back to the clerk with an almost wistful expression. "Have you ever tried your hand at it? Photography, I mean."
Get Like Me | Ailee & Baekhyun
It was always the photography club meetings that made him feel like an outcase. Though he was one of the finest photographers, he found himself having absolutely, and literally, no friends in that club. Sure everyone was kind and all, but he never really talked to any of them. At meetings, he would always sit at the back of the room, taking notes and mentally reminding himself of the next few meetings and what they had to do after the discussions. After the meeting was over, Baekhyun finished writing down a few things before he glanced up, seeing the last few people walk out of the room in pairs. He sighed quietly, packing his things and slung his camera on his shoulder, before he felt a light tap.
Surprised, Baekhyun jolted up and furrowed his eyebrows, turning around to come face to face with a beautiful girl. He had to admit, she was gorgeous. He’s seen her before, performing with the choir and all that— and there was no doubt that she was an amazing singer. He really admired her voice. He blinked as she introduced himself, and stared at her, nodding.
“Y-Yes, that’s me… nice to meet you,” He said in a timid tone. What’s with people now a days? Was it pity? Now a days more people have been approaching him nicely, with no other intention but to befriend him. First, his encounter with that guy Jongjin at the library and now Ailee. It threw him off guard, but he sorta liked it.
Adjusting her camera's strap on her shoulder so that it didn't feel like it was about to slip right off her arm, Ailee smiled at him. "It's nice to meet you, too," she replied to him, a cheerful overtone sounding out over her voice to match her smile. "I've seen you at all the meetings. You don't talk much, do you? You should speak up sometimes. I've seen your work--it's pretty amazing."
And she wasn't just being nice. Even though he stayed quiet at the back of the room at every meeting, his photos stood out among the rest, and even better than some of the upperclassmen. She'd spent a few times discussing his photos with some of the other seniors, but even though they all thought his work was great and that he had potential to be even greater, none of them had ever reached out to him or tried to befriend him. And now, standing there and just chatting with him, remembering how invisible she'd felt while attending high school in the States, Ailee felt a strong urge to do just that. She'd have to do even more schedule rearranging, but she was determined to make it worth it.
"What are you doing right now, Baekhyun?" Ailee asked, hands grasping at her camera's shoulder strap again, this time just above where her straps turned into clasps to attach to the bag. "I mean, not what you're doing right now, because you're obviously sitting in a desk listening to me babble on forever, but what are you doing after you leave the classroom? She flashed him another smile, eyes forming crescents as it grew wide across her face, her cheeks pushed upward by the expression. "Got any plans?"
