her eyes drift to him, blinking carefully at his words. “why?” she laughed, the words filtering out through a chuckle, not entirely understanding why he would be nervous. “mm?” mina was busily tapping a few things into her phone as she listened to her boyfriend beside her, eyebrow rising at his sudden anxiety. “don’t be nervous, you have nothing to worry about. it’s not like you’re going to say anything bad that’ll make my uncles want to shoot you down.” the brunette pauses right after she had said it, that was probably not the best thing to smooth down the situation. “just be yourself, i honestly assure you that there shouldn’t be anything you need to prepare yourself for. well, maybe prepare yourself for how many people you’ll be meeting but other than that, you should be fine.” slim shoulders rose and fell in a definite shrug as she nodded. “my old boyfriends?” lips purse as she fell into a silent thought, “i … honestly don’t remember. it probably wasn’t too bad or it could have been bad — i don’t know, and you shouldn’t compare yourself to them, anyways. you’re nothing like them.”
"oh, okay." she nods, holding onto the wallet that’s handed to her as she unbuckles her seatbelt in suit to him. opening the door only to turn around to duck her head back into the car, "did you want anything specific, i’m not sure what to buy." mina blinks as she looks from him to the store before she moves to sit back down. "you know what, i’ll just wait for you — i don’t want to go alone. i don’t want to buy the wrong thing." she says as she places the wallet back in her lap and she waits for him to put gas into the car.
"I don't know," he honestly admits with a shrug. "Parents make me nervous. Don't parents make he nervous?" The sound that comes from his throat sound slike a laugh, but it seems kind of tense and forced. His own parents made him nervous these days, what more the parents of the girl he was seeing, never mind that they've seemed nothing but friendly and welcoming whenever he'd spoken with them through Skype. "Shoot me down?!" He laughs even more, head shaking from side to side. "That's not very encouraging, Mina," he tells her, his tone teasing, knowing that there's no way he can make so bad an impression that guns would be involved. Or, well, at least he hopes he won't--suddenly he's feeling a little bit too worked up again.
Despite all that, however, he does manage to relax a little upon her assurance, and he gives her a tiny smile, thankful for her words. "That's true," he admits finally with a small nod. He wasn't her old boyfriends--they all managed to get broken up with, after all. Their loss.
"Well, pick out the things you want and I'l be right there after you?" He suggests as he steps out of the car. "Oh, wait--" He grins at her, reaching back for his wallet to briefly take the gas card out before returning it to her. "Maybe get me a can of iced coffee for the road as a start, I guess?"
It doesn't take him long to refill the tank of the car and for him to follow her inside the store. It does take him a shot while for his eyes to look around and spot her tiny frame, lost within the aisles of the store. "Mina--?"
