SnK Chief Animation Director Asano Kyoji Pays Tribute to the Passing of Seiyuu Fujiwara Keiji (Hannes)
Chief Animation Director Asano Kyoji shared an original illustration of Hannes gazing lovingly at young Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. In the 1st season of the SnK anime, Hannes was voiced by renowned seiyuu Fujiwara Keiji, who passed away on April 12th, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He was 55.
Due to Fujiwara’s cancer treatments, Hannes was voiced by Tsuda Kenjirou in SnK Season 2.
Fujiwara was one of Japan’s most respected seiyuu, with almost 40 years of experience in the industry and hundreds of roles in anime, video games, and Japanese dubbing. Some of his most well-known characters include Nohara Hiroshi in Crayon Shin-Chan, Maes Hughes in Full Metal Alchemist, Ladd Russo in Baccano!, Leorio in Hunter x Hunter, Zenzou Hattori in Gintama, Aizawa Shuichi in Death Note, Holland in Eureka Seven, Reno in Final Fantasy VII, and Axel in Kingdom Hearts. He was also the official Japanese dub actor for Robert Downey Jr./Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
