It was predicted to be a warm Christmas in LA, which would have made for a lovely holiday for many, but this wasn't the case for one couple. The Why Don't We boys had just finished their holiday tour, given a break to spend Christmas with the families, with Corbyn heading up to the mountains of California with his family and girlfriend, Erika. He was thrilled to take her with him, as well as eager to go snowboarding.
But before that could happen, he had to arrive back in L.A., with Erika waiting at the airport for him, along with some of the other girlfriends, such as Gabbie and Kay. They were all waiting patiently for the boys to arrive, a small crowd of girls nearby knowing who they were and easily piecing together what they were waiting on, eagerly peering in the same direction the girlfriends were. Once the boys finally made it off their plane and had headed towards where the girls were, Corbyn searched the crowds for Erika, catching her eyes and letting his lips break into a wide grin.
Once Erika finally spotted Corbyn, her own smile grew wider as well, the 18-year-old pushing past people to make her way into her boyfriend's arms, being practically pulled tight against him and spun in a circle, with the older of the pair pressing his lips to her black hair, murmuring about how much he had missed her. Upon pulling away, she looked up at him, both leaning in for a quick kiss, his hands reaching up to cup her cheeks and hers wrapped around his neck. They parted the embrace not too long after, everybody grabbing their stuff and making their way to the cars, then to the house, where they would be able to have a few days to relax before they headed off to see their families.
"You know, it's going to be cold where we're going," Corbyn told his girlfriend, his arms wrapping around her waist from behind as she packed some clothes for their trip with his family, her suitcase open on the floor next to his bed. "You might just have to bundle up in a sweatshirt of mine." He teased her, tugging at the sweatshirt of his that she was already wearing, his chin coming to rest on her shoulder as he pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Are you almost done packing?"
"Yeah, I just have to finish with this last bag and then I'm ready to head out." Erika glanced up at her boyfriend, almost mockingly rolling her eyes at the playful look on his face before squealing as he tackled her onto the bed, practically pinning her down underneath him and planting kisses all over her face.
"Good, because I'm in need of some cuddles," Corbyn whined as he buried his face in her neck, arms on both sides of her head, keeping her beneath him and holding her attention on him. "You've taken forever to pack."
Erika's laughter was muffled as she tilted her head, trying to shift and get in a somewhat comfortable position with her large boyfriend hovering over her, him shifting to give her some room as she did so. They were glad for the alone time together, knowing that they'd have plenty of time to relax while he was on break, but also that the holidays could get a little chaotic. It was Erika's first Christmas with the Besson's, and Corbyn had given her fair warning that his family was quite thrilled with the idea that she was coming along. Ashley Besson had already met her and seemed to adore the girl, complimenting her on how well Corbyn and she went together, also being glad she could go to the girl for advice and gossip. Regardless, they wouldn't be having an awful lot of alone time on the ski trip, but they would try their best.
The drive to where they were staying, Big Bear Lake, wasn't awfully long, only a short two hours. Not even that, it was probably shorter the way Corbyn drove, with the couple singing along loudly to the radio and simply enjoying their time together. When they got there, they were quick to get to the rented out cabin the family was at, happily reuniting and settling in the living room for a few hours. Erika fit right in with the Besson's, his mother adoring her and his father teasing his son about how in love he looked, with both his siblings wanting to sit and talk with her about various topics, ranging from how she was doing studying Astrobiology, which had clearly fascinated her blonde boyfriend as well, to how she liked LA.
"Hey, Corbs," Erika spoke softly as she approached from his side, a hand landing gently on his arm before he wrapped it around her waist, pulling her close to him.
"Hm?" He responded, his mom smiling at them and moving to go talk to her daughter.
"When will we be out in the snow?" She asked him, leaning against him and letting her gaze drift to the window.
He looked that way as well, the sky darkening as stars started to appear, the sun setting and leaving the world awash in a dusky haze. "Tomorrow, I know Mom and Dad want to spend the evening inside watching movies and relaxing. We could sit outside for a bit and look at the stars once it's dark enough," Corbyn suggested, pressing a soft kiss to her temple as he continued to hold her, feeling her arm wrap around him as well. He swayed the two, comfortable in the embrace, and calm with his love by his side.
Erika nodded, "I'd like that."
A little later, once everybody had drifted off to do their own thing, Corbyn and Erika had bundled up and slipped outside to look at the stars, sitting on a swinging bench and staring up at the evening sky. The older man had his arms once more secured around his girlfriend, Erika snuggled into his side with her head on his shoulder.
"Do you see Orion?" Her boyfriend asked, motioning up towards the sky as she nodded. "Well trailing behind it is a constellation called Canis Major. It was supposed to be one of Orion's hunting dogs, Laelaps. It's said he's in pursuit of Taurus, the bull." As he spoke, he pointed out the constellations with his free hand, glancing down at her to see that she was seeing them too. "That bright star is called Sirius."
As he glanced down, his smaller girlfriend was looking up at him with a face of adoration, her bright green eyes filled with love, and he gave her an almost confused smile in response. "What?"
"Nothing. I just absolutely love you, Corbyn Matthew Besson." The girl answered, smiling up at him and keeping her arms tightly secured around his middle.
"I love you too, Erika future Besson." He grinned cheekily back, before his free hand came down to gently rest on her cheek and tilt her head as he leaned closer, her meeting him halfway in a loving kiss to end the night, the two soon heading inside to change and snuggle up for bed.
