“You’re not all that multi-dimensional, I hate to tell you,” she sneered, rolling her eyes at him. “All brawn and no brain, as they say.” The comment about making her squirm made her snap her head back in his direction, outraged and doing little to hide it at this point. His suggestion–something she didn’t think was a bluff–made her feel simultaneously aroused and humiliated, something he was good at doing. Something which always, without fail, managed to work, somehow. It was her reaction to Zane that let Annie know how truly screwed up she must have been. She didn’t answer the question, and at least the knowledge that calling him a loser had gotten to him made her feel somewhat better. “I’m sorry it hurts your feelings that I would rather sleep with a bunch of old men than you, but have you considered that it’s just because you’re no good?” It was a lie, of course–a lie designed specifically to make him angry, to get what she wanted out of him. “How does it feel to know all those grandpas are more satisfying than you?”
“C’mon, Annie, we all know by now that you fuck viagra-coaxed cock strictly for the money. I don’t pay you shit, and you still hop on my dick every time I offer it up. It wasn’t surprising anymore, Zane mellowing out when she talked to him. He was nice to her, and she didn’t know why. It made her uncomfortable, because she couldn’t wrap her brain around it, and she hated not understanding things. “Valentine’s Day isn’t about that, though,” she told him matter-of-factly. “Those girls only wanted to have sex with you. And you only wanted to have sex with them. Don’t you feel bad, making them think that’s all they deserve?” Being asked how her Valentine’s Day went caught her off guard, but she smiled a little and gave a shrug of her shoulders. “Well, daddy always takes me out for Valentine’s Day. “—What? Look, if they just wanna hook up, that’s their choice. I mean, there are girls out there who’re into that stuff too, y’know... But if they wanna get all pampered and use a guy for his money, they tend to go for one of the suckers around here.” Giving another weak shrug with his broad shoulders, his dark eyebrows remained pulled together slightly in confusion, which had initially been caused by Marchie’s blatant accusation. What Zane was confused over now was the fact that he felt he needed to justify his actions to her. There had always been something about the brunette that intrigued him. He was never going to admit that he harboured a crush for the girl, that just sounded all elementary school and pathetic. She was totally fucking weird, but in a cute way, so he found himself... drawn to her. That sounded pathetic too. "Oh,” he gave a couple small nods of his head, surprised to find himself relieved that the guy she’d been with was just her dad. They weren’t really supposed to leave school grounds for lunch, but Marchie had never been terribly good about following rules. During her free period, she’d decided she wanted to walk to Wendy’s for a frosty, and when she ran into Zane on her way out, she frowned. He carried bad vibes around with him, a terrible aura, and although he was strangely nice to her, Marchie saw him bullying other people. “I like Valentine’s Day,” she told him with a little shrug. “I think maybe you would like it more if you were nicer, because then someone might want to be your date, and you wouldn’t have to be alone.”
When the figure he’d openly been speaking to turned to look at him, and he realized that it was Marchie, of all people? His demeanour completely shifted, after a short pause, chiselled features softening a bit as hazel irises studied her expression for a brief moment. He then gave a weak shrug of his broad shoulders, and carried on. “I mean, I guess Valentine’s Day doesn’t totally suck..,” he spoke in a lower tone of voice, shoving his hands into his pockets. “And who says I didn’t have a line of hot chicks wanting to be my date? Just ‘cause I’m not a super sensitive loser, doesn’t mean I’m not good in other areas.” Clearing his throat awkwardly, Zane chewed gently on the side of his bottom lip, glancing over at her, before down at his feet as they walked. “But, uh..., how was yours? Valentine’s Day, I mean. Did’ya do anything?”
The nickname never failed to make Annie bristle, and she shot Zane a look of pure loathing even as her face filled with color. It was humiliating, and what made it even worse was that that was exactly why he did it. “I guess you’re a bad listener and an asshole,” she shot back, using every ounce of will power she possessed to remain composed. “Bored?” she scoffed. “Are you sure you aren’t talking about yourself? I can’t go anywhere without you leering. It makes my skin crawl. You make my skin crawl.” She knew that getting defensive was only proving his point, but she couldn’t help it. He made her so angry. “Now if you don’t mind, I can think of about a million things I’d rather be doing than standing here talking to you. Don’t you have some weights to bench press? Or maybe an I’ll-be-a-Pinedale-loser-the-rest-of-my-life convention to get to?”
“Wow, look at the fuckin’ therapist in training, eh? Totally got me all figured out.” Another chuckle tumbled from his lips, obviously amused by how quickly she was falling for all of his comments, and especially the pink hue that lifted across her cheeks. The tip of his tongue poked out to smooth over his bottom lip, hazel eyes sizing her up before he gave a small shake of his head. “Yeah, I know I can make you squirm,” Zane spoke with that cocky sense of confidence again, his lips tugging back in a smirk. “Would you rather be bent over the hood of my car? ‘Cause, I mean, that can be arranged in a quick second.” His egotistical reign faltered slightly at the last comment Annie made, but he quickly regained his composure and observed the lack of people surrounding them before locking his amused gaze back on the blonde, a more menacing stare clouding his hazel eyes. “That’s funny, real fuckin’ hilarious. But, hey, it’s cool— guess you probably gotta ‘nother old dick to hop on, to make bank, right? I won’t keep you from that.”
“Did someone do that to you? Or is that just a random thing that you’re assuming happened? I’m sad to announce that I was not the one who stole a date, and I also didn’t get a threesome.
