(@eldraziresearcher) “Another planeswalker?”
Looks over in surprise, warily adjusting their cloak. “Who are you?”
@eldraziresearcher
The young man approaches, showing he had brown hair and eyes, a greyish blue suit and a white coat.
“My name is Jovan Marlauu of the Order of the Blind Eternities.”
“How did you find me? What do you seek?”
“With the use of Eldrazi powers. I’m just locating planeswalkers and such.”
Zarra’s eyes widen in surprise. “Eldrazi?” A dangerous glint flashes in their eyes as they lower themself into a battle ready stance, though it seems clumsy and uncertain. They growl,“ What kind of monster works with the Eldrazi?”
Jovan is not phased. He answered calmly.
“One that sold his arm to Kozilek, earned his power and piece of his essence, and using it to take revenge. You’ll never understand.”
“No, I might not,” Zarra admits. “I lost my entire world—two worlds—to their mindless hunger to cause harm. I couldn’t work with them.” Zarra looks down at their feet a little ashamed as they think how they couldn’t work against them either.
Zarra loosens the aggressive stance and stands up straight, suspecting Jovan won’t attack even under light provocation. They bring out their journal and open it to the bookmark, beginning to take notes as they continue the conversation. “When you say revenge, do you mean for Zendikar?”
“Mirrodin….. but according to my sources and one of Bolas’s herald, it’s now New Phyrexia.”
Jovan remained calm.
“I lost my home, my master, my love, and my plane to whatever brought about that new world. If only Karn was there to push the resistance forward…”
“New Phyrexia? Never heard of it,” Zarra said, looking up from their journal briefly. “You say whatever came… Your plane didn’t fall to the Eldrazi?” They quickly scrawled all the names Jovan had mentioned before they could forget.
“No, it fell to the Phyrexians. As for the Eldrazis….. you can say I came to them when I first planeswalked to Zendikar.”
Jovan took this time to relax his left arm. Soon, an white blank eye and jagged plates appears on his shoulder and arm. A geometric blade of luster our black mineral appeared next to it. Four more of those projects appeared in around his hands.
“And I got to speak with one of the Titans.”
Zarra’s eyes snapped up incredulously. “You… spoke with it?” They snapped their journal closed, too captivated with the conversation to manage writing at the same time. Their pale grey eyes lowered to the mineral enigmas, and Zarra’s stomach turned. Zarra had to look away as memories resurfaced of bismuth like fields.
“Via telepathy. I sold my arm and offered servitude for his powers. I command most of his broods. Took a few of Memnarch’s abduction devices with modifications to get them from Zendikar to Fiora.”
Jovan took a few steps back.
“Even when Kozilek was destroyed By the Gatewatch, a piece of his essence remained with me. As for Ulamog, a friend of mine managed to get a piece of his essence from his broods. Emrakul….. Let’s say the Order of the Blind Eternities have a bounty on this Nahiri woman.”
“Their broods survive? You brought them somewhere new?” Zarra looked upon Jovan with horror. “Even if you could control them, they mutilate a plane with their sheer existence. How horrible are these Phyrexians that you would rely on Eldrazi horrors to fight back?”
“Have you ever seen a loved one get shredded to a pile of organs or consumed by glistening oil and end up becoming a machine made in the image of a horrid race?” Jovan’s voice is cruel. “They believe all will be none, but with the Eldrazis, all will be none.”
“I’ve seen the township I grew to need as much as they relied on me… merge. They ch-changed and sickly tendrils reached and grabbed for more madness as everything burned,” Zarra said softly, drawing in on themself as they began to feel numb. Their legs began to tremble, their knees threatening to buckle as the night the angels razed Quiet Willow seared through their mind.
“Phyrexia did far worse than what the Eldrazis did to a township. Before the Mending, they destroyed a plane full of angels that worshipped a goddess named Serra. A planeswalker name Urza tried to do all he can to evacuate angels there to Dominaria.”
Jovan can tell what Zara was referring to when she mentioned township, tendrils, merging, and madness.
“And That was on Innistrad and by Emrakul. The Titan I look up to is Kozilek.”
Zarra shook their head. "Kozilek took my home from me. He left it a field of intersecting crystal that could support no life. The two titans marred Zendikar beyond repair, and if the visions Emrakul gave me were true, this was just another conquest. They ate Zendikar and she turned Innistrad into a writhing monstrosity because they could." With a wave of nausea and lightheadedness, Zarra pulled themself a nearby wall and collapsed against its support.
