the only thing i will say regarding the sudden "black vs palestinian" debate happening is that black activists in the US (and the UK) have been the ones who put their livelihoods and jobs on the line for standing up for palestinian rights and they have also been the ones who paid for it first and foremost. like for the past ten months i've seen black people get fired, doxxed, harassed and scapegoated for speaking up about palestine with almost as much frequency as palestinians specifically because they were trying to drive a wedge between these communities and solidarities (if you recall, there was a leaked adl call about their worry about this on tiktok, later made explicit by aipac)

not to repeat ourselves on this history but it was black civil rights activists who made palestine a central cultural and political issue in the US before arab-americans had enough visibility and organizing power to do so. most the protests you see people carrying malcolm x and june jordan quotes on their signs. so like. of course zionists (and that includes democrats) are intimidated by this.

i think it's... ignoring the facts on the ground in favor of terminally online discourse for people to act as though black people haven't been targeted under the biden admin for pro-palestine stances when days into the genocide it was black columnist jazmine hughes who was forced to resign from nyt because of signing a letter in solidarity with palestine, it was black nyu law student ryna workman who was doxxed for writing a statement, years ago it was marc lamont hill who was fired from cnn for his pro-palestine stance, during the encampments it was black professors who were standing by their students (notably ruha benjamin at princeton, where the entire african american studies department was targeted afterwards) i can think of dozens of examples

but the point i'm trying to make is that black people were heavily targeted for speaking up about palestine the past ten months, both for their increased visibility and specifically because this solidarity in particular was troubling to zionists. it is genuinely weird that the current discourse adopts the zionist line that it's merely an online trend where black people are being peer-pressured to be sympathetic to palestine, when black people in the US are at the forefront of this and a driving force behind this organizing. ok well i don't think it's weird i think it's deliberate.
