its almost as if punk was never truly a counterculture and has been completely whitewashed as a movement ever since it stood shoulder to shoulder with Journey fans to shout “disco sucks” all the time, it’s almost as if punk isn’t counterculture but subculture, not challenging any of the norms of white western society that need to be demolished and only challenging the easy targets such as “well i wanna dye my hair green and still get an office job” “i want tattoos and i dont want my sister Mackenzie looking at me funny from across the dinner table” “i wanna go shop at hot topic but mom won’t let me” and my favorite “i wanna be a famous musician but i don’t wanna be any good at playing instruments” its almost as if punk has been declawed by middle class white kids who are bored with suburbia and think the sex pistols count as rebellious
