Evil Pegasus rules this here pasture.
One of the rare instances where the American redeco outclasses the original. You know, when I first saw it... on clearance!!!... I passed it by, thinking it was silly, chrome didn't belong on a zoid, it looked stupid, yadda yadda. Times change, tastes change.
Why Zoids?
I'm back into Zoids after a decade-ish break... since Zoids Original, a vague stab at a 30th anniversary line, in 2013.
Why now?
I blame Zoids Wild for bringing me back in. Scorpear. Then Kuwaganos, then Spideath, then,... then I'm back digging old friends out of storage.
I'm OGZ; first American release, almost back to Mechabonica, baybee! Zoids were my "first love" of Japanese toys; before even Macross and Transformers. Shogun Warriors and Micronauts never grabbed me the way Zoids did. Perhaps it was that they looked more realistic. Perhaps it was customizability, the way you could swap weapons and accessories. Perhaps it was the right time. I was twelve, and big into war gaming.
What draws me to Zoids?
Movement. Engineering. The aforementioned customizability. The fact that you can build them like a model and play with them like a toy. The challenge of darthing a Zoid all to shit and back and still getting it to move as well or better than before. For me, Zoids move. A highly poseable static model is an action figure, not a Zoid. Zoids are 1/72 scale, except for the 1/24th Imperial Zoids, which are cool as fuck. The best Zoids have interchangeable parts and accessories, and feature the serpent and dagger crest.
Day 3. Gojulas came to visit.
Day 2. Everybody talks to me like I'm an idiot.
Day 1. Still tired from the move.
